I love how “it all ends up drivel one day” and “one day I am gonna grow wings” use the same “one day”; the nape of my neck bristles with gooseflesh every time 🥰
He has a lot of lyrics over the years from his various projects and bands where he talks about growing wings r having wings. It’s such a profound lyric in his songs and has such strong connotations that can be taken numerous ways. His song with Burial with the lyrics “touch on both our wings” (something like that) idk it gives me chills. Sorry if this is TMI but I was at this concert btw and me and the literal grown men next to me CRIED OUR HEARTS OUT to this song. (Any many others)
In 2012 I saw Radiohead and I was sitting next to a complete stranger. They told me before the show began that if they played Pyramid Song that they might start sobbing and to please be prepared. When they did play that song, this person began hugging me and sobbing. They said "I will never forget this moment!" I certainly haven't.
i get it. i was at the second sydney night when he played pyramid song and i just started crying. tears streaming down my face for no apparent reason. it was just such a beautiful and meaningful moment. radiohead and thoms art means so much to me.
@MachoBread ok you explain to me why it's underrated , it's not underrated, most people that hear this song love it, it's not underrated at all, that's just an over used term
Oh man I feel that girl. I made it official that this is my all time favourite song like 20 years ago and have already requested it be played at my funeral.
Saw Radiohead at Manchester in 2017. They opened with Let Down. (For the first time ever) I looked over to my right and saw a big burly, skin head bloke fully sobbing with a load of his friends consoling him and comforting him. To this day I’ve always wondered what had happened to him and what ‘Let Down’ had to do with it. Potentially the song was pivotal at a time he lost a relative or something like that. It was a beautiful moment to witness. Just makes me love the song even more.
She wasn't the only one. I was in the 1st Mel show. I knew i would definitely cry if i heard the live version of this song. I was praying for Thom to sing it, please just once in my life. He did, and i sobbed. Such a magical moment.
I watched him in Singapore too. I cried like that lady, reminiscing how poor I was and now that able to watch him felt like feeding my inner child🥹 girl we made it
Ive been off of Radiohead for a while, only listening to some of their songs in the shower. This video is slowly bringing me back, but maybe not for long. I'll just wait for another emotional breakdown in my life.
I'd probably be crying too. I've listened to this song so many times when I felt like I had a huge let down in my life. The second verse is particularly devastating. It's like I wrote those words.
Absolutely gorgeous! I haven't got a Let Down live. If I did, I'd cry too. Maybe not like THAT. But it's still super sweet. They've tattooed our hearts.
It’s weird that people says it is an underrated song. If you mean a song is underrated just because didn’t become a world wide hit, then I think your definition is wrong. This song has always been well appreciated since the album came out.
I cried when I finally saw the killers play smile like you mean it. Didn’t expect it it just hits you like a bus when you get to see the person who made the music perform songs that mean a lot to you
I was there on both nights and this was probably my favourite - I walked past him at Circular Quay on Friday lunchtime! He was with his Italian wife - I think he saw I was wearing a Radiohead T-shirt and made a detour to avoid being spotted!

This is more than just a version of a song. This is a statement. In an age of unabated technological advancement, Thom has just proved why human emotional intelligence will always trump artificial intelligence. Because it's just that - artificial. You can employ whatever whizzy production techniques you like or autotune someone until they're pitch perfect but completely devoid of emotion, but if you get one incredible human to write an incredible song which MEANS something to them and their audience, you need nothing more than an acoustic guitar and your own voice to bring people to tears. Chat GPT will NEVER do that.
