I really like the idea and wish you a good luck with this series. Just one suggestion: Don't use all those quick camera movements and zoom-ins. It's nausiating and distracting. Fixed camera shots and slow movements would be better and more cinematic.
This is just like Pinwheel Arts and I agree on multiple series, black mesa doesn't really get community animations and fan-made stuff so this is a good example. Looks good!
A bit late here, but I really like the intro; It's really cool seeing Barney, Gordon, and Adrian (I think?) being surrounded by Xen creatures, then a scene showing scientists, Gordon, Adrian, Barney, Gman, some HECU marines, marching together.
thank you for coming up with such a good idea and following through on it! Half has such a nice narrative and dramaturgy that it would deserve a movie but the game, as it is played is as good, just with better camera angles and realistic character behaviors; a cinematic let's play if you will ;)
I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I have some criticism: 1) The camera movements are nauseating. You don't need to track the tram at all times. Use establishing shots and less cutting. 2) The whole thing just moves too fast. There's no tension building, no time for the audience to take in what's going on. 3) Why on Earth is Barney wearing shades in an underground facility? 4) It's obvious you used the original Half Life audio for Barney, which is very jarring. I'll watch your other episodes and see if you improve.
Thanks for the tips! Also, the reason Barney is wearing shades is because at the time, the eyes were messed up and didn't work, so I decided to just have him wearing sunglasses so it wouldn't look bad. As for the audio, I'm trying to use the Black Mesa audio as much as possible because it's higher quality, but sometimes I need the voice files from the original.
Ahhhh it make sense now, at first I was thinking the the guard knocking on the door didn't look like Barney, so you put Barney in Sector C instead.. I see
Uh, why does camera fly everywhere? It just keeps jiggling around everywhere. There are also some parts where the shading and dynamic lighting is kinda broken. Oof.
Evan [REDACTED] photography was my hobby when I was a kid, so yes, I do. Sometimes I run into technical difficulties (or a wall) and the camera work ends up being different than I originally planned.
I think he's talking about the extremely unnecessary and motion-sickness-inducing movements of the camera. Its great until you do non-linear motions, then its just "what the fuck is going on, is the camera caught in a quadratically-keyed tornado"
You mean the intro music? I believe that it's called "Diabolical Adrenaline Guitar" From HL1. It was used for the Lambda Core. downloads.khinsider.com/game-soundtracks/album/half-life-original-soundtrack/09.%2520Diabolical%2520Adrenaline%2520Guitar%2520%2528Lambda%2520Core%2529.mp3
Flamedwater I am going to make this a series actually. Season 1 covers Half-Life, with element of Blue Shift, Opposing Force, and a brief reference to Hunt Down the Freeman. Season 2 Covers Half-Life 2 and Lost Coast. 3 covers Episode 1. 4 Covers Episode 2 and (assuming it's been released) Lost Squad.
juses Well originally it was going to say blood/gore, but when I was looking at other movie ratings for research, I saw on AVP that it was rated PG-13 for slime and gore. I assumed that the slime part was alien blood, so that's what I went with. But yeah, I thought it was funny too.
Well he's just taking other people's work, sure he gives credit, but somply re-shooting what some people have already created is lazy and doesn't achieve anything new that hasn't been done already. The fact that it is all from black mesa doesn't justify anything other than my initial statment.
I love the fact that the automated voice says basically yeah you can die doing your job, don’t :)

I couldn't possibly disagree more. Static camera shots are boring and easy.
@@RemixedVoice Even the creator seemed to agree with him
The camera can be dynamic, but not too much. Else we become easily confused.
This is just like Pinwheel Arts and I agree on multiple series, black mesa doesn't really get community animations and fan-made stuff so this is a good example. Looks good!
I wanna see this guy and Pinwheel Arts team up.

This is so good, giving me the thrills, and great animation.
Camera movement strange :/

Love it, but the camera movement in some parts was
a bit weird. Made me feel uneasy.
Please keep a more steady camera :)
3:30 that guy operating the mech just bonked his head on the bottom of the tram and gave himself a concussion
then the tram went into free fall!
Camera's a bit twitchy.
This is really good animation guys nice work. 5:00 Barney hey catch me later I"II buy you a beer Gordon okay haha :D i"m waiting Episode 4.
Very good! I like those small humor acts! :D
*Inbound* For Disaster
Yeah, I agree with other people here. The camera movement is hilariously exaggerated.
The intro looks cool
3:40 did the tram just... fall?
No but it looks like it
Lassi Helin yea it is a way to go downstairs or downrail drumbeat
“We’re almost- AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH”
Great work
I love it and i bet this increases my MOITON SICKNESS DURABILITY
Barney Calhoun on 0:43.
Ahhhh it make sense now, at first I was thinking the the guard knocking on the door didn't look like Barney, so you put Barney in Sector C instead.. I see
makes me miss paper half life 3
Why did Gordon parkour onto the tram? Also it's really dark..
He was running late. If you look, the tram door starts closing just before he enters.
Nice workd❤❤❤
Thanks!
catch me later I'll buy you a beer...
*Turns back facing*
*Thumbs up*
*Runs backward*
About that beer I owe ya.
Aaah Barny with his beer🍺🍻
20 years later...
he was hitting on him
Did black mesa dont have any lights? Dude is to dark
Sigue subiendo las series half life
This is like a TV show
That's what I'm going for
Not bad but you made the camera move way too much
Uh, why does camera fly everywhere? It just keeps jiggling around everywhere.
There are also some parts where the shading and dynamic lighting is kinda broken. Oof.
Camera movement is nauseous.
So I've been told.
@@TCBStudios Still, not bad, i hope you are still going with the project.
@@GUnit2214 I am literally typing this reply while waiting for SFM to load. Don't worry, I'm not dropping the project any time soon.

Half Life 1 Map? 0:44
Anny Poh yeah, I had some trouble porting the Black Mesa maps for this one.
Disney Pixar should hire you
I appreciate the compliment, but I will NEVER work for Disney.
Awesome!!!! 👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😃
*Thumbs up*
What's the music at the beginning? It sounds so familiar...
It's the opening music from HL1.
@@TCBStudios No, I mean before that.

I saw gman at 4:21
This is cool but JESUS CHRIST WHY IS THE CAMERA SPINNING AND ZOOMING
Because I watched a Michael Bay film before making this
ZOOM
So are you gonna make this a series? like a season for each game? (Blue shift, Opposing Force, Decay, Half-Life 2, EP1,EP2, Lost coast)

most of this is just ripped from the black mesa intro.
That's the point.
What point is that trying to make?
Nearly everything here is from Black Mesa.
well, its trying to convey the same story so thats not surprising is it
