That is why this great battle ain't watched as much as the others, yet; this one is one of the greatest ones of ERB.

@thatcooldudeisawesome876 Mother Teresa was, after her death, accused of being an outright horrible person. She gave poor care to sick individuals, was harsh and cruel with fellow nuns, stole money from families and from the church, and a lot of other gross things.
Sigmund isn't so much so as evil, but definitely had a mega-ego. He developed a lot of theories based around sex and perverted ideologies, like wanting to bang your own mother, women being jealous of men having penises, etc. Plus, he was just an egomaniac who would only care about people and their feelings during sessions and otherwise couldn't care less, not to mention had extremely high charge rates.
Both of them were scummy people, but Mother Teresa was a different kind of scum.
I love the little "Oooo!" after Freud's opening line of round 2 at 1:57. He's admiring his own diss 🤣

Okay. I just would have usually expected a bar like that to carry a double meaning of some kind.
Also took me a while to figure out why it was D instead of P.
I love how Freud talked about his own death in his first turn. Usually someone's death is used as a burn by the opponent but Freud got it out of the way so Theresa couldn't use it and simultaneously turned it into a burn against her.
Also my favorite line is definitely "I can see right through you and you've got no flavor! ... I'm battling a communion wafer!"

It just struck me how brilliant this setup is. Not only is it a religious (and idealist?) character vs an sceptic and pragmatic one, it's also someone highly known for their humbleness vs a very narcissistic individual. Abstinence against hypersexuality, too. The mother of all against the guy who talks about fucking mothers. The amount of jokes you can get out of this are almost endless.
"You want a second coming? I'll bless the mic again." works in like 5 different levels.
The second coming of Jesus christ, sexually coming, blessing the mic in a literal sense, the mic being a sexual inuendo, while at the same time saying she's blessing the mic everytime she raps, this is absolute genius.
Also part of the humor to it as well is where Freud was narcissist he did try to help his patients where mother Teresa wanted her people to suffer to bring them closer to God and very rarely used the money her church earned or was given for herself which is why he brought up the fact he helps people live where she lets people die for a man in the sky
Both are also people who were highly esteemed at their time but have gotten a lot more flak for their questionable deeds after their death.
Mother Teresa was not humble. She was, by far, the greater monster than Freud

@@Talei2 That is incorrect. He was offered a peaceful death by his doctor (who was also his friend, he offered as a family friend not as a doctor) but Freud rejected at first. But then the pain became too much and it was the only thing on his mind at all times. And so his doctor and his youngest daughter Ana helped him pass away peacefully with 2-3 morphine shots over a couple days.

Some of Freud’s ideas were vaild and great for scientific understanding of the mind and health, some of his other ideas were not. It was a trail and error process for Freud in the greater scheme of things really!

I’ve thought long and hard about it and I think this might be the best ERB overall. The flows, the disses, the beat, the character choices, it’s just high quality from start to finish.
This has to be one of the best LOOKING epic rap battles they have ever done. The black and white of Freud that contrasted his background but also how almost identical NP looked like Freud and then the makeup and look they had for MT was spot on. This was one where style met substance and I’m here for it.
This is probably one of their most underrated recent raps. Every line's flow and wit is incredible.
Plus that beat is sick as hell.

“D-envy” after Sigmund’s whole thing about mom’s came out another dr theorized that women felt the same thing to their dads. Sigmund said nope and explained that women actually want to have a penis and are envious of men for having one, so d-envy.

@@thegeekno72 well I'm not sure if it could hold up in my top 10s there are so many more rap battles by now I would need to rewatch every single one of them.
(out of the top of my head some I would put before it are : stalin ect, Philosopher, newton, churchill, I'm sure I could make a top 10 without gates vs jobs included)
It just holds a special place for me cause it's one of the first I understood nearly every single line of and the first one which surprised with the density of referances + I've just started or would start with programming. So yeah it has a longer history for me ^^

This is among my favorites you guys have done. It has 0% fat! And having Freud fall down on the couch created a really cool sense of visual action that I haven't seen in most of the videos, and I loved it.
