Preach. None of us are incapable of doing wrong, we’re all human at the end of the day and being a “saint” or an “idol” doesn’t erase that fact.
It’s all about whether you’re willing to admit and accept your wrongdoings in order to make a change for the better or sweep them under the rug to avoid accountability.

I remember reading in multiple arguments about the Christian religion were a lot of Christians said that Jesus/the Bible said not to worships idols
I remember I loved Mother Teresa, and was all for her becoming beatified, until I read about her history. When I read what her nuns said about her, about what she was really like- that she was a tyrant who, in a nutshell, abused patients and themselves, I felt betrayed, and I was so angry.
This woman sat there and kept medicine and necessities from desperate people because she claimed that pain and suffering made people closer to Jesus by sharing his own suffering, and yet, when she got sick, she got herself top-notch medical care. Guess she didn't want to share in Jesus' suffering. She was such a hypocrite.
I'm still angry about it.
Me, too. When you can relieve suffering, you should. Only an evil or perverse person would do otherwise. She was a despicable person.

This is a very interesting story. I was a teacher. One of my students was adopted and indicated she had been in a orphanage which was run by Sister Theresa. My student indicated she was not treated well, and did not speak highly of her.
I knew someone who followed one of your classes and indicated that he did not like your class and did not speak very highly of you.
I could recommend that you search for Christopher Hitchens work on Mother Theresa.

If you read the wikipedia article, it is mostly gossip. Mother teresa did not condem this dictator, nog did she take a stance in the abortion debate, and her hospital was not well run. To me it reads as gossip.
There’s a study by a university in Quebec about all this. It’s not in English, but you can read reviews of it. Unfortunately those authors concluded something along the lines of “well, people like heroes even if they’re a myth.”

I personally knew nuns who where in the same religious order as Mother Teresa and served with her. Every one of those nuns told me that she was a mean person. None of them wanted to serve with her. Your vlog is absolutely true!

I knew a volunteer who worked with her in Calcutta and said she was a hard taskmaster but was widely respected and loved cos she worked longer and with more dedication for the poorest of the poor than anyone else despite her age.
She saved many many who helped her with the people dying on the streets these women would have to marry to stay able to provide for themselves if they couldn’t pay dowery they would be locked up in prison for not paying husbands family the debt prisons are full of these unprotected women by serving this order they can save themselves from this practice of marriage theft arranged marriages still need money and has cost young women there lives. These are some thing to think about. The dignity in this culture has people in the filthy streets the sisters of charity bring the last moments to a quiet place away from the invisible state in which the whole country is accustomed to stepping over. Even the young women are also in need of protections. I Honor a women who would lift a lost soul and bring them so a safe place even to die.

You are right to be wary of missionaries and religions. If you arent, dont forget that creepy minister who a few decades ago entrapped and murdered disciples in South America--JIM JONES & JONESTOWN. He was a psychopath but even when not, I wouldnt go off to a place anywhere that ID HAVE to convert, and I AM CATHOLIC.
As a kid in the 80s our media hailed her as a hero and if you said anything bad about her you would be corrected and dismissed instantly.

I could think of a couple of people who still get praised and their bad deeds are completely overlooked.
I heard of her In jR high school and wondered where all the money went . When we saw a film, I asked Why those people still looked hungry and sick- very sad situation! She wasn’t impressive!
I saw a public service announcement on TV back in the 1990's. In a voice-over, Mother Teresa described how she found a man dying on the streets, and her order gave the man a bed to die in. She said something like, "He died with the most beatific smile on his face." At the time, I felt something was profoundly wrong with Mother Teresa. She ignored the man until he was ready to die, then she put him in a controlled environment where she could control his suffering and death...all for the glory of Jesus Christ. That's messed up.
The poor of Calcutta would just die in the gutter by the thousands. She saw this one man and gave him a bed. In the end she gave succor to thousands. It is an error to say that she ignored him before his situation became hopeless. Imagine the terrible plight of those desperately poor people. She did something to ease their suffering, give them dignity, and show them kindness and love.
No one ever said that saints were perfect in their lives. Did she handle this reality as you would have? Of course not. Did she make mistakes? Of course. Had you taken on this mission would you have made mistakes? Of course. How easy it is to criticize.

I remember reading an article that stated how she wouldn't help people who wouldn't convert to Christianity and how she refused to use the money given to her charity to actually be spent on the poor and instead made them suffer in poverty.
Catholic teaching from the saints is a)suffering is good, b)being poor is good. It's not so clearly apparent from official Catholic teaching but she would have got a lot of her grounding from saints writings. She wasn't badly intentioned, but Christopher Hitchens and this vid portray her that way.

@@lorrimang Luke 3:11 "If you have two shirts, give one to the poor. If you have food, share it with those who are hungry.” That's a far cry from steal their beds and force them to suffer. I feel that some confuse long suffering with agony, when in reality it translates to patience.
It's sad how people who can't love God wholly just try to descredit others. You can even walk for one hour in winter without shoes yet she did that her whole life all seasons

What do shoes have to do with the question of whether or not she needlessly caused harm to those she claimed to be helping? Self-harm and self-denial don't equal being a good person to others. In fact, if done for the wrong reasons, they can be part of the image someone wants to project

My sister went to volunteer in her Kalighat ashram and was horrified by the way those Missionaries of Charity treated the poor, even the food an absolute horror and my sister came back with an ambivalent view of these people

Thank you for these truths. It's nearly impossible to get people to listen. She must have had the BEST PR team. I knew of very rich people who hooked up with her, trying to buy their way out of the guilt of over-privilege. Much easier to throw money at her than to do anything substantial.
I’ve known a lot about her misdeeds. When she was canonized it actually maddened me . Baptizing Hindus on their death bed without their knowledge, not truly helping the poor and much much much more.
She used to encourage the pain among those whom she helped saying that the more pain they feel the closer they get to god :/

One thing infographics left out was when she herself fell ill, she got treatment from best hospitals in US or something while she denied even basic care for the poor while leeching off money in their name. There are so many ex volunteers coming out and speaking out. This isn't an attack on Christianity or white race, it's about the truth.

No offense, but pretty much any organization has something corrupt behind it. I mean every group has its bad apples, so religion is certainly not the only corrupt thing going on. So don’t act like it is.

People will often do almost anything to try and destroy a person’s reputation.
No one is perfect. But, people like Mother Theresa have done more for humanity than most of the people on these TH-cam comments sections and she certainly did more for humanity than the people making these videos.
I have seen with my own eyes how the Mother Teresa order works, having places for the elders, children with physical problems that were dropped on the street, and the homeless... I guess it needs the character to build such an organization. For those that dare, go and face such harmful reality as She did it... you will get traumatized to discover that side of the reality.

seems rather harsh to call her a fraud when the "mistake" was not to spend on things that she maybe didnt know/understood as important, and that she was ultimately a religious person that focused on the spiritual aspect rather than the material aspects of helping people. And how can she be expected to ensure the rehabilitation of the poor or the addressing of poverty? even governments cannot do it and a old nun is a fraud because she didnt do it? Ultimately did she earnestly try to do good? and was her work and inspiration to others a net good or bad?
She didn't do so but she could have with the millions of donation she got from all around the world and still she decided to let people suffer in the name of God. My grandfather's colleagues were the doctors who visited her centres and were left speechless with the bas conditions and suffering of the people, most of them didn't survive for more than a week...

I got a 95 on the paper. It was also my own choice to write the paper as we got to choose the topics of many essays we wrote in that course. Religion was a separate elective and was the study of all religions, my anthropology class touched on religion briefly but not in as much depth. I'm wondering since you were taught this specifically if it was because you were in a catholic school? 🤔

I never liked her and I'm glad people are finally starting to talk about this. I was at a radio station when the newsreader came on the line to read the news updates, which on that day included her death. I had to keep my mouth shut because everyone looked like they'd just lost their closest relative. I never understood the whole cult of personality she'd engineered, but she wasn't the first, nor the last, to do so.
That's how I felt when she was awarded Saint status. What a puppet.
My conscience wouldn’t allow me to like her. Thank God this is an animation, because I can’t look at any of her images or videos, they petrify me.
This all started as a child.. growing up in Southern Africa, my mother is obsessed with the west and all their celebs. The first time I saw her on TV I screamed ran to a closet and hid until they switched off the TV. For years I couldn’t look at her face, then I went to a Catholic secondary school, where I saw her image AGAIN I felt like I was going to pass out. I don’t know why I felt this way, but in my early 20s I found out the truth! She was a cover up, involved in trafficking and selling babies. For some strange reason this story is brushed under the rug. My spirit of discernment was strong in childhood, even stronger in adulthood. We live in an upside down world and sometimes I wish I never knew about wickedness and how they use religion as a cover up!

When I was a kid I saw a film about a NuN its horror film American film.. that valak doesn't even exist that time, Nun esp wearing those dark outfit their idk what it called about that in their head.. That movie depicts thats its their Horn were they hide scary to be exact!!probably it grows me and have a trauma nor ADHD about that since then.. Until today seeing some nuns in real life esp those who wear dark outfit and their head cap really flashback in my mind of what I saw frm a film long long years ago...

I studied in an convent school in India … and she was in almost every moral science books and she was painted as this saviour who left the luxurious life in Skopje and came to our “poor” Calcutta to nurse the lepers and other patient . I mean now that I remember those I get how our education system actually sets a narrative
I also studied in a convent school for a year. When I look back now, I realise how wrong the school system was. We were not allowed to use our native language. Good scoring students were grouped and appointed as hunting groups for anyone who speak hindi.
10 years later now I ask myself who were they to do so?

No matter what Gandhi did, he is a great man, he might not be a perfect man, but he accomplished something non of us could.
I remember a story my great grandfather told me, his uncle was very sick and the missionaries of Mother Teresa were running a small infirmary near their refuge camp, he was there for 2 weeks and the nuns were basically converting the patients to Christianity before their death, nearly two-thirds were converted on their death bed.
Because they weren't doctors, they were nuns and figured it they could institute last rights that they could go to heaven
But they could've at least get some certified doctors

U need to go to India & try to get poor into a hospital with 'untouchables' and cast system. Knowledge of cross infection is resent & still very difficult.
From what I saw, they were laying on wooden pallets with a very thin mat.
I met someone that worked at her hospice in 2008 and he loved his experience. However, he told me that the place was badly run and bought only the cheapest supplies which are normally not the best ones.

So yes, a setup. She caused so much suffering…for the poor & for the invalids, and for the young nuns in her charge (or should I say in her cult.) And she suffered, purposefully, but also selectively because she was top dog with access to VIP treatment everywhere she went. She, like most Catholics were taught that suffering & suffering in silence brought folks closer to God. Her ultimate goal was the coercive control & conversion of some very vulnerable pple. I've read former volunteers say the same things, that they didn't believe in pain relief, the lack of medical staff, that they thought suffering was good for people. It's very sad when you consider all the good that could have been done if they'd involved professionals, if they'd provided proper medical care, if they'd had training programs or given these poor people a way to make a living. The only purpose to suffering is so that we develop compassion, so that we do something to stop the suffering. Giving someone a bed, so they don't have to do their suffering on the pavement, falls very short.
Where are you going to find these qualified professionals 3rd world countries?
EDIT: I regret making this comment. I know next to nothing about India, I shouldn't judge. But I also think we shouldn't judge Mother Teresa and her noble efforts without knowing both sides of the story and having all of the facts.
