    kona does have auto-pilot functionality. You have to use the adaptive cruise control in conjunction with lane adjustment. This gives you stop and go ability and all you have to do is put your hand on the wheel once in awhile just like a tesla. Hyundai calls it Smart Cruise Control.

    • @teslapeg
      @teslapeg  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Nope. Their “smart cruise control” is basically calling lane assist and stop and go. It does not steer like a Tesla

    • @DuncanBooth
      @DuncanBooth 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@teslapeg I don't know about the Kona you were driving as specs may vary by country. I have a UK 2020 Kona EV and it has Lane Keep Assist which is what you were demonstrating but it also has Lane Follow Assist which is what @balthasar3 is talking about. The Lane Follow Assist is disabled by default so you have to find it in the configuration menus and turn it on but once you've done that it will steer to keep you in the centre of the lane when smart cruise control is on (provided it can actually see the lane markings). Lane Keep assist only steers to stop you drifting out of the lane, Lane Follow Assist actually follows the lane properly.

      The auto pilot works brilliantly in the Kona. Unlike the basic Tesla autopilot when you indicate to change lanes in the Kona, it disengages whilst manoeuvring, then re-engages automatically in the new lane. It has 4 levels of distance control from the car in front and follows the centre of the lane very well in all weathers and at night and re-adjusts the distance from the car Infront if someone moves into your lane It works brilliantly in stop and go traffic and informs you to press the button on the steering wheel to move off again if stationary for more than about 10 seconds. The auto pilot settings are also shown on the head up display. Lane follow assist is indicated by a green steering wheel on the display. The car gives you a warning after a period of time if you are not holding the steering wheel. There is also the option in the settings for lane keep assist, which is not as advanced and will just warn you and help you stay in lane if you were to stray out of your lane. Don't confuse the two. You have to go into the settings just the once to set up lane follow assist, then it will work from a press on the steering wheel button anytime you want to engage it. This is on a 2019 Premium SE model.

    At least with the hyundai, you have parts availability and you can actually repair/maintain the vehicle yourself *without them restricting the hyundai's functions* , unlike tesle and their " *we know whats better for you* " philosophy.
    For that alone I'd take hyunday over tesla.

    So…..many……buttons…. Considering a Kona for my daughter but being used to the 3 I’m not sure I can make the leap backward in time. The reason why the Tesla input is so perfect is it’s ‘set it and forget it.’ Once you’ve set up how you like to drive, you never go in again and mess around with it while driving. The Kona looks like a pain because it appears that you’ll constantly have to mess with all the various buttons while driving.

    I brought my 2020 Kona EV in for a software update for recall 199, "reduced braking power". I dropped the car off 07/15/2021 at 9 a.m. in the morning. Over 30 hours later the car is still in the shop. Unfortunately, Hyundai didn't invest in over the air update technology, which means owners of Hyundai EVs have to schedule maintenance appointments for software updates. Then after dropping the car off they have to wait for a technician to get around to it. Keep in mind the service center is also working on ICE cars as well so it might take a day, two, or three to get your EV back. I totally regret buying this car. Don't make the same mistake. @@Michaelngo102 If I am walking across a road and a tesla is coming up to me and does not stop clearly the car is at fault for not stopping and also the driver for not being in control of their car, if it gets around that tesla has insurance to cover this, plenty of people will try it out for damages, please show me tesla owner that will allow the car to hit something/one. I think you will find governments will not allow SDC. 👍

    Where do get service on the Model 3 when the closest Tesla service center to Winnipeg is 1200 km away? I would think this would be a major con for the Kona as there seems be more servicing Hyundai dealers than Starbucks in Canada.

      I go from point A to point B and the screen don't matter at all to me. If your eyes are on the screen while you are driving like some tesla drivers, you shouldn't be on the road. Crossed Canada in the Kona as well adn should be possible in the US as well according to friends

Oh and I'm sorry the model 3 totally has a super modern elegant interior with space age tech and features that only show up on 100,000 dollar cars but the interior on the kona def looks like a car from 2014 with a base model package....bleh....nah.

      @@teslapeg and you're not NEARLY critical enough about the interior of the kona looking like it's from 2014 in 2021 is just rough.... If you wanna be equally critical of the tesla then talk about how the paint job is cheap but the interior vs interior were talking about a solid 9 out of 10 vs a 4 out of 10 unless your over 65 and have never sat in a tesla before....and if we're going that route the kona is gonna scare the hell out of 65 and over because instead of a 1 stop shop it has 9,000 buttons all over the steering wheel, console, dash, doors, and ceiling..... 65 and up no likey...

    • @AFlyingCookieLOL
      @AFlyingCookieLOL 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nunyabidniz It's not worth 20k, the screen itself with touch is basically a screen with touch sensors. The "computer" is also not worth much, many tablets can do the same, there is no high end gpu etc. The ccds on the tesla also is not worth much either.
      As for buttons, easier to have a physical touch than look at ta screen while you drive which is enormously unsafe. Also many drivers prefer the height on a kona, soul or niro over a tesla. Many people once they park they leave the car and the screen rarely gets used.
