Opening night of Force Awakens was literally one of the most enjoyable times I had experienced in my life next to Endgame.
The only thing that comes close to the cinema experience of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ was the day I saw ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’.
Two years of pandemic lockdowns, that’s what we needed. But yeah TFA was something else entirely.

That's the thing everybody saw the hopeful and legendary luke in the expanded universe but in a way this is more realistic , people loved luke because he was relatable and anyone could be like him so Luke becoming a sad old man is relatable because no one can stay optimistic if the things that happened to Luke happene to them and at the he completely comes back to his old self and does exactly what obi wan did to him In episode 4 , sacrificing himself so that the others can escape

Rian Johnson presents Holdo's sacrifice as noble, which is fine, but minutes later in the movie's runtime, after Holdo's sacrifice, he also presents Finn's attempted sacrifice on Crait as ignoble. There is no difference between Holdo and Finn's sentiments. In both scenarios, each of them is trying to protect the resistance at the cost of their own lives and the the lives of First Order members.
The movie has contradictory messaging.

That's an extremely low bar. Not sure that many people disagree--still doesn't make 8 good. All the sequels fall apart if you think about them for ten seconds.

Support this era is a strong word… The Last Jedi is my second favorite SW movie.. But the endinf to the trilogy with TRoS I was really left disappointed by.. So much so that I didn’t watch a single movie, read a single book or played a single Star Wars game. Only watched Mando.

Refreshing to hear good reactions. None of the trilogies were perfect, and each one had tons of critics around the years of their release. Hopefully peoples reaction to the sequels will mellow out and people who enjoyed them will be able to just enjoy them without having to hear the constant tiring drivel from people who hate them. c

The prequels had at least a good storyline and incredible action scenes. The sequels just had plot holes, plot convenience, shallow characters and some of the worst fight choreographies in movie history.

@@Vandalle. Without a doubt they belong to the worst fighting scenes ever. The lightsaber fights in the sequels are an insult to sword fighting. It’s so unprofessional, they fight without defense and they aim at the weapons and not at the body which is highly illogical.
@@UnknownUser_10 There were some good moments in the sequels, like the Luke Kylo fight at the end of the 8th episode. The sequels had major potential, and sloppy writing and too many “plot armour” made it not good.

MJ Tickle Exactly and that’s the problem, there’s no logic behind it whatsoever. How come in the battle of the first death star, a few x wings didn’t just hyperspeed into the Death Star to destroy it? It provides no explanation as to why nobody’s done it before. Ridiculous.

When you watch the Last Jedi part of the reactions, it almost sounds like a freaking Sitcom with all the laughing, LOL

episode 7 was definetly the strongest of the trilogy, change my mind.
Only had a couple of good scenes which made it decent until the lightsaber scene
Episode VII didn't even try. It's a blatant knockoff of Episode IV. At least Episode VIII pretended to be different by regressing characters.
I will always have more respect to the student who studied for a test and got a C than I will for a student who cheated on that same test and got a B.

I saw an early screening of The Rise of Skywalker and I loved it. I know that many people won't like it including the critics but I liked it. It's basically a fan service movie but there were a few new elements in it. The movie is flawed but in my opinion it was also entertaining.

I think that's because the movie still had a bunch of runtime leftover to make something work. And as the runtime was burnt away, the chances of redemption were becoming less and less likely.

In 2015 and 2017 I left the theater disappointed.. much more so in 2017. In 2019 I left the theater feeling good. Ep 9 is a good movie, and if you go into it not looking for things to hate, you'll have a good time. Is it a perfect movie? No, but it's a lot better than the last one.
Facts
I felt very, VERY, disappointed in 2019, because this movie doesn’t have engaging characters, they are just random figures the writers put in their five year old toy play.
I was amazed by episode 7 and 8 because those characters were awesome and had compelling arcs. That was something totally missing in Rise of Skywalker, thus this was impossible not to focus to the obvious incoherences the script tried to make us accept, like the worst title crawl of all Star Wars movies, the worst line in all of Star Wars « Somehow Palpatine returned », the worst twists with Hux being a spy and Rey being a Palpatine, and the worst insult to intelligence with the dagger that held the position of some part of the Death Star, which is absolute sh*t.
This movie was a lot like X-Men 3 : more action-packed than the first two but wasting all the great themes those movies introduced.
So no, I’m sorry to say, even with the best will of the world, I can’t defend this movie. The only way I can enjoy it is by putting my brain off or drinking five beers.

Would have been great if Kyle fully turned to the light when he killed snoke and the last 40 minutes of this movie was in episode 9 not 8.
