Their are two reactions from Myself and TOTMovieReactions. This was the night after I got off of work I ran into the Marathon but it was already at the last episode. Too bad a friend of mine who was at the marathon from the beginning told me its been dead quit...but it didnt stay quit when The Force Awakens....

I have to say, opening night of The Force Awakens was one of the most amazing things I have ever experienced. That was my first time seeing a Star Wars movie in theaters. I was all the way down in the 3rd row but I didn't care. I was one of those idiots clapping for every single little thing. The snow battle gave me chills all the way through it. Finally, when the end credit music started playing st the end I had one of the most satisfying feelings I've ever felt.

The Film Enthusiast I agree, it was such an amazing moment. It felt like what my mom and aunt told me it was like seeing the very first one, like I was witnessing history. I felt like I was with family for the whole movie :)

At my theatre, when Han died, I remember some guy scream-crying "BULLSHIT!" at the top of his lungs.

Getting chills all throughout this video remembering that night in the theater when the movie came out
Derrick Rose Very little cheering in my theater on second night. At the beginning and then when Han & Chewbacca appeared but at that point people were realizing what a disappointment the movie was shaping up to be. Mostly silence from there on. People openly criticized the film as the credits rolled and spoke of what a let down it turned out to be as they exited the room. You could sense the disappointment as the crowd exited.

Some of the best experiences I've had at the theaters in recent years is going to see these movies with my brother and dad.
My dad grew up with the OG trilogy. Me and my bro grew up when the prequels were being made. Even if not everyone likes these newer films, all 3 of us have the time of our lives seeing them together.

Mick Quack I'm not sure how to explain it, but it's great. I love total silence when seeing a movie. But I saw Episode VII on opening day at the IMAX in Sydney, and the audience was cheering through the whole movie, and it was great.
I absolutely loved it. Having everyone in the theatre cheer made it one of the greatest movie-going experiences I have ever had.
EDIT: I will never forget the chills I felt when Finn turned on the lightsaber in the snow battle and the whole IMAX cinema shook due to the bass. So dang cool.

Im surpised no one cheered during the "Lucasfilm" and the"long time ago" cards.
Mine neither, especially at the opening or closing titles - just some applause.

I'm literally here to relive those first few moments when the theatre fell silent, then roared to life when the title appeared. I've never been in a theatre this hyped before. Australia typically doesn't make much noise during movies.
That one girl screeching at the top of her lungs was just ridiculous, lol.

With the laughing and applauding, the audience is making The Force Awakens feel like a primetime sitcom.
I love it when The Stormtroopers walk away after they see sparks when Kylo Ren destroys the chair in his rage.
I saw this on the same day & the reactions were similar. I laughed so hard at the BB-8 moment at 2:40, but I think everyone did!

The Death scene and Luke scene didnt show up because no one reacted. Ugh now stop asking like little 9 year old it's already annoying after i posted this smh
Or many, like myself, saw it coming. I'm not suggesting I'm an expert at predictions. The film itself threw out warning signs. By the time Han reached Kylo on the bridge all I could think to myself was, "Do it already!" :/
maxcrazycam03 No, it's because the audience had already realized what a let down of a movie they were seeing was and were at that point only mildly curious. I watched it in the theater on the second night and the audience not only seemed disappointed but I overheard a couple of conversations about how much of a let down it was as people exited the room. People didn't even try to hide their disdain for this Disney disaster. But hey, Rogue 1 was pretty good.

One thing I'm kinda amazed that this movie was able to do was that it had a lot of 2015 humor, but it didn't compromise the story. This cannot be said about The Last Jedi.
It's moments like this when I think: how can anyone not like this movie? The experience was just so special, especially watching it the first time.
Watching this for the first time in theaters was an unforgettable, magical experience. I went back to theaters like 4 more times just to watch Force Awakens again and again. Say what you will about the Sequel Trilogy and it's recent negative reputation, but nothing will ever replace this movie in my heart!

I saw it opening night, but it was late so the theater wasn't that lively.. went back the next night with my son to see it again and the theater was hoppin! atmosphere was electric, everyone was cheering and clapping. Glad my son got to see his first star wars movie on the big screen that way

The Force Awakens is designed as an event movie.
I find it kind of strange when people clap for something that's already pre made. it's not like a love performance. although I do understand clapping at the beginning and end. For example like at amusement parks people clap and holler after the ride is done. the ride has run a thousand times and no one is there to even clap to, to congratulate them on making a good ride. see what I mean? There's no one there to say to "hey great movie I like what you did".
Ah... the fanservice. It made the episode VII great, but it killed the franchise on the long run

Yeah, the director kind of ruined the whole ‘Star Wars’ vibe and made it feel more like a comedy.
Hey guys dont you think that the prequels are devoid of humour. Jar jar binks did not save the day. The original trilogy had humour so this means you havent seen the original trilogy if this made you think TFA looks like comedy.
This is wonderful to see! The audience I sat with didn't have as exciting a reaction as these folks did.
I know the internet is very split on this movie, but I adore it. Seeing it for the first time with an emotional and excited audience was fantastic.

December 22nd, 2015. My very first Star Wars movie in the theater, and I'll never forget having that lucky seat in the back, waiting for the note to drop and seeing how everyone would react after waiting a decade for a new Star Wars. Safe to say that I was beyond satisfied. Clapping and cheers from every isle. I knew we were all in for a good time.
This sure beats watching sitcoms with laugh tracks!

I wish my theater had an audience like this! All I ever hear is laughter and talk, no excitement from the audience while i'm the only one who cheers and gets excited when something amazing happens in a movie!
People at my local movie theater were going bananas the entire way through.
This was so much different in a British audience, no one claps in a British audience, it's a lot better
Usually, no one claps in an American audience except at the end (sometimes). It's just that this film had everyone hyped and everyone was excited to see all the original characters return.

The night I went to go watch The Force Awakens, the theater had so much energy. Never seen that much energy for a film in my life. Glad I could be apart of it.

In German Cinemas no one ever claps, we laugh or cry or whatever but no one ever claps or cheers
Nostalgia saved this movie. It was amazing for the first time but gets boring after a few times. Something the old movies missed, I could watch them many times without getting bored. Even episode 1.
I can watch all of them over and over again and still enjoy them a ton, except Attack Of The Clones. ive never liked that one.

One of the best experiences of watching The Force Awakens at the Midnight Launch is being part of all the crowds cheers and applauds.

What was easily the best aspect about this movie was the audience it's self. Laughing, awwwwing, and cheering together with the crowed was an amazing experience and the sad part is that I know I'm never going to see it again.
Watching this movie in theaters is so much different than watching it at home! At the theater it was so much fun and euphoric not just the movie the experience its self watching people line up for hours to see a movie just the fact that a starwars movie was playing had everyone excited

I remember when I saw TFA only a few days after the release. The entire cinema was screaming and cheering when the Star Wars logo appeared on screen.
2:18, we cheered even louder when we saw this at the Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers NY.
Ahhh, this movie was the first ever Star Wars movie, i used to think it was boring but this movie completely changed my mind. I’ve become a huge fan of star wars and I can’t wait for the last jedi!

Seeing This and Avengers Age Of Ultron On the Thurday Night Early Release in IMAX were 2 of the best theater experiences ive ever had.
Mainly because in both showings the audience went nuts and screamed and laughed and i had never had experiences like that in a theater before, mainly because those were the first big movies i had seen on opening night in IMAX, because i just started goin to imax, it also helps that they were basically the 2 biggest most anticipated movies of 2015

I went to see this at a late night viewing on the night before the release day, first time watching a star wars film in theaters. Had the time of my life. Funny thing is, since it was late, i overslept and missed school. No regrets.
I can't believe this is a Dec 17. crowd. I mean, I know every crowd is different but for a first day showing where you have to assume that the theatre is packed with hardcore fans this was surprisingly "quiet". I guess I was very lucky that of the eight times I saw it the crowd was louder than this every time. Still thank you for posting this. There's not a lot of these out there.

My experience was similar, but not as much laughing, everyone was like so concentrated and so into it haha, but there was a lot of cheering, when Rey caught the light saber, everyone went ballistic, it was awesome!

the movie was too self aware that it had been forever since the last star wars. everything has a grand entrance or an unexpected pop up into the frame. lol

When Han Solo and Chewbacca went into the Faclon and said "we're home" I literally couldn't hear the movie because everyone was screaming and clapping. When Rye and Finn got in the Falcon 4 people clapped LMFAO.
