Before they were famous, the Beatles were actually the opening act on Little Richard's British and Germany tour in 1962 just after Drummer Ringo joined the band. Hendrix played for Little Richard in 1965 +. But the Beatles met Jimi later ca 1966, and 1967, doing the "Experience" trio in England later just before he burst onto the national scene... funny how that all ties together by accident.
He opened alot doors and did alot of things for alot of artists, Beatles, Micjagger, James Brown, Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, etc etc, he was close friends with Elvis Presley, with out him there would be no Rock N Roll
@@thomastimlin1724 I've never seen a picture of the Beatles geeking out harder than when they met Little Richard. They look like little kids meeting Santa. Paul McCartney especially, he was tugging on Richard's hands pretty hard. Paul and John Lennon both later went on to become the two most successful songwriters of all time.
Now we're back to Rock 'n Roll sources! Even before Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis and others there were embryonic Rock 'n Roll artists in the 40's, like Louis Jordan and Big Joe Turner (Shake Rattle and Roll). Little Richard once said that when he was coming up the younger generation didn't want to hear Blues anymore. That was "old folks cryin'". His generation wanted upbeat energetic music. Their influence is foundational. Even The Beatles did a great cover of Long Tall Sally.
Little Richard WAS Rock n Roll. That voice, that style, that flamboyance, THAT TALENT, just awe-inspiring. Also, I gotta say -- Amber you really do a great "Woooooo" :) with that flawless vibrato singing style. ^_^ Much love and much respect to you both!!!!!
This song came out in (1956). It was feature in the (1956) hit movie "The Girl Can Help It." Long Tall Sally was one of the biggest hits in the 50's. Little Richard was one of the most charismatic and flamboyant singers of his day. He was a Rock & Roll pioneer...A Rock & Roll Legend... And a Rock & Roll Hall of Famer. Great reaction as always.
Little Richard was shocking when everyone first saw him ! He was shockingly great and a super fun entertainer. My Mother loved him. She would dance and laugh to this song. He was an early rock n roll pioneer. He was hugely popular and everyone loved his style. He set the music table of early rock n roll. Your reaction was like everyones reaction way back then. 😊👍🔥
Flamboyant, the arquitect of rock and roll, the first to get together the white and black to hear music and dance It. He overcome his physical and poverty limitations!
I love to see people’s reaction the first time they hear little Richard. Your guys reaction is absolutely fabulous I’m sure you’ve got request for his other great songs keep up the good work guys.
I was just a kid at the time, but my Dad subwayed me way uptown to the Odeon to see this. It's 100% pure natural juice. Little Richard and Chuck Berry had a way of blowing audience color lines totally out of the water. BTW, notice how nicely everyone was dressed? 👗
Rock n roll in it's infancy! Little Richard, one of the legends that started it all! You can't take nothing away from the greats that gave the world the gift of rock!
the reaction of the crowd is because this performance is part of a movie. it's why the music is so clear when a lot of live performances of the time are choppy as hell. That's a movie set. everyone there outside of Richard and the band are paid actors and extras. The movie was called Don't Knock the Rock.
Ands also in that audience........paid to be there...but also enjoying the music...and paying their respect to THE MAN HIMSELF ..THE ORIGINAL ORIGINATOR are two of the men BILL HALEY AND ALAN FREED who ...at that time... were being credited as starting and naming this thing they called ROCK AND ROLL....while all the time they knew.as Little Richard himself said....and here demonstrated that ..."Rock and Roll is just our Rhythm and Blues played by white guys " (or words to that effect!)
This is where Rock & Roll started 👌 Along with Chuck Berry, Bill Hayley and The Comets, Elvis, etc. These are the ones the Beatles and others listen to back in the day.
Bless his heart he could tear a piano up and was a pretty good comedian too. He lived here in Tennessee. We just lost him last year. He's buried in Huntsville Alabama. He was loved by many generations. He didn't stop entertaining until he absolutely had to. He loved life and was a very complex human being. 💖💖💖
He's the ORIGINATOR.. THE ARCHITECT..THE BEGINNING OF IT ALL....THE KING OF ROCK&ROLL.. There are posters of Little Richard on your in Europe..where the posters read " Little Richard..The KING of Rock&Roll🔥🔥🔥
Little Richard was th 1st true Rocker imo. Had swagger like Jagger before there was Jagger. Nobody kicked it like Little Richard & there'd be no Jerry Lee Lewis w/o Richard. RIP 🤴
Wrong. Lewis was performing live by the age of 14, began writing his own songs not long after. He made his first recordings in 1952. That man was gonna play rock n' roll, blues and country music one way or another. He exuded an intense love for music and performing.
I hit the like button before you started the video. I love the oldies. I actually saw Little Richard live in 2000 with Chuck Berry. They were 70 years old at the time and still killed it!
when i was a kid hearing stuff by little richard i just didnt think anything of the lyrics, but as an adult"having fun with bald head sally" and "tutti fruiti" haha the lyrics make sense now i know about his personal life.
What a showman! God bless Richard Penniman. He was loved by the Beatles, and so many white groups back in the day. I was just a baby when this music hit the airwaves. Now at 70 this music makes me so happy. Rest in peace Little Richard. You are the KING of Rock N Roll!
As Mel said ..."Well, I be a monkey's uncle"...lol. I love seeing you two discover such icons as Little Richard; He was certainly one of a kind...and always fun to watch !!!!
One of the fathers of Rock n Roll. Notice it's an all white audience as was common in those days. Little Richard and his band had to enter and exit the back door but when he played they all loved him that's why a lot of black artists played in Europe where they were treated like celebrities thus the British invasion of young white kids playing rock with blues jazz influence
Saw Little Richard in 1971 at a big rock concert. Two bands didn't show up so he filled in and proceeded to steal the show! Up on top of the piano and everyone on the stage boogie-woogie time. He was awesome!
There is nobody who could ever touch Little Richard. "YOUR MUSIC HAS INSPIRED ME". You are the greatest said Elvis Presley. The Beatles worshipped him. His influence cant be measured only treasured. He is simply the GREATEST. This and Ready Teddy are everything R N R should be.
Little Richard was flamboyant & always looked fantastic, love his smile, his energy & his hair was fabulous 🥰 When he was playing his piano it was out of this world, then his band kicked in and the spell was cast !! He had difficulty in his younger days with bullies & racists, BUT HE went on to be so popular and epic, overcoming a lot of hardships. You knew who was singing as soon as you heard his piano & his voice 💗✨🔥💜☮️
I LOVE YOU GUYS! Little Richard one of the greatest! I would love to see SHAWN react to the VIDEO of JERRY LEE LEWIS, HIGH SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL (England Performance 1983) it will BLOW YOU AWAY!
One man pictured on the middle of three men is Bill Halley, who is credited as the first musician to introduce rock and roll. His group was called Bill Haley and the Comets, When you have a chance, check them out. (He's the one with the curl in the middle of his forehead.)
Little Richard was a classically trained piano player. This was a walk in the park for him. And he is absolutely raw talent and personality. There's no artist today that comes close
I had the honor of meeting Richard in the 1970's...he played the West Coast Theater concerts by KNAC local rock radio. He was very sweet, offered my champagne...👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼💋💋💋
It was hard ,when the music changed. This is what I was listening to. I'm so glad y'all are going down this rabbit hole. Thank you so much Check out San Cook " YOU SEND ME"
The Architect of Rock n' Roll ! ! ! I first heard him in 1955. I was 13. The timing was perfect for me. I got to live the first age of rock n' roll in my teens. I and my fellow teens got to "be there when it happened." We were privileged.
Little Richard always put on a show, makes you wanna move your feet , wiggle your hips & SING!! He was that good on piano 😊💖 Bill Haley & The Comets were in the audience, Sitting at a table! Bill has a curl of hair on his forehead & they were a popular group at this time !
Little Richard was a force of nature! He was a true original and a pioneer, and we should long speak his name. He was a genius performer and an icon. He struggled. Hard. He struggled to come up out of poverty and a troubled upbringing. He struggled as a black artist in the 50s and 60s in America. He struggled trying to reconcile his faith with his sexuality. He struggled as a man who never really got his due. God bless Little Richard for the gifts that he gave us all; gifts that continue to bare fruit. Thank you, dear God, for giving us Little Richard!
This performance is a clip from a movie which is why the audience is not more animated. Little Richard was one of the pioneers of rock! He was Rock and Roll! Legendary!!!
Little Richard was an international Rock n Roll legend. He took in under his wing a little known mop top group called the Beatles and bought their meals when they couldn’t afford to. It was during that time Paul McCartney learned his iconic scream from Little Richard
Lucille is another good one.
Second that.
That’s it late 50s , 60s and half the 70s most spectacular tunes available ❤ever
Richard was literally one of THE first “Rockstars”.

"Tutti Fruitti"and "Lucille"are two great one`s by Little Richard...He has a lot of great songs.
He was a great performer. He could play the piano, had extreme energy & a high pitched rock tenor voice that was FABULOUS!
Richard had both Jimi Hendrix & James Brown in his band at times. He is the King.

The Beatles toured with Little Richard in the UK. He taught Paul McCartney how to do the "Oooo-oooooo" thing.
And Paul does an incredible version of this song
Little Richard was so epic. One of the greatest performers of all time. Love love love.

The Architect Of This ROCK & ROLL + BLUES
One of the original true rockers, helped revolutionize music along with Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly. LEGEND!
Little Richard may be my favorite Gospel singer. He had a beautiful voice.
I was just a kid at the time, but my Dad subwayed me way uptown to the Odeon to see this. It's 100% pure natural juice. Little Richard and Chuck Berry had a way of blowing audience color lines totally out of the water. BTW, notice how nicely everyone was dressed? 👗
“Long tall Sally, she’s built for speed, she got everything uncle John needs” is a line I Heard over 50 years ago, and still one of my favorites.
