    It’s with a heavy heart that I announce that as of June 14th, Echo (this rabbit in the video) is no longer here. After a vet visit, we discovered multiple health complications and then had an emergency happen when I got home with her. She had to be put down, but was surrounded by love in her final moments.
    This is the harsh reality of owner neglect and she could still be here today if the owners did what they were supposed to. I will be making a video on her diagnosis and last days soon ❤ RIP Echo

    The biggest problem here is that this is not rare. People think this is how it's ok to treat small animals. It's just a bunny. It's just a hamster. It's just a guinea big. It's just a goldfish. Just, just, just. If this was unique to this specific horrible human, that would be one thing. But this is the life of most small animals. How were here teeth not overgrown? How did she not die from stasis? There are so many loved and well cared for bunnies out there that get sick and die seemingly out of nowhere but these neglected pets seem to live on and on and on in these conditions. Horrible.

      I am constantly told “it’s just a bunny”. I hate those words so much. My bunny is my baby, as important to me as my cat, dog and partner. People bring an animal into their home that is completely reliant on them for care and they treat them like this. I will never understand it.

      @bemilie2841 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Yes they should actually only sell animals to people who are able to pass a test or willing to spend a few hours in order to learn everything. If tons of people aren’t proper parents, imagine about taking care of another species.

    • @AstridiaMoon
      @AstridiaMoon 23 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Key word, proper. Pet stores will tell you a small box is good for guinea pigs, but that’s far from the truth

    • @samanthaheizer-metcalf9703
      @samanthaheizer-metcalf9703 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@AstridiaMoon I agree! It is a significant issue across the entire small pet community. I have even debated getting stickers made to stick to pet stores enclosures to advise them of improper enclosure care. I’m going to speak more in regards to hamsters because that is where most of my research is and my expertise is. Like I was just in PetSmart and petco yesterday and what I seen at petco made me livid! PetSmart at least had an upright hamster safe wheel in each enclosure, was a decent size, and wasn’t feeding a rat lab block food to them (which is known to be very dangerous to hamsters). At petco they had smaller enclosures, unsafe saucer wheels or mesh wire (these wheels, cause bumble foot or injuries), and being fed a rat lab block (which is known to be very dangerous to hamsters health). However, neither pet store had any adequate hamster information anywhere or products. Since this is the standard that pet stores are setting people whom know nothing about small pet care buy unsuitable care products for their animals and honestly believe that they are “spoiling” them, but reality is they aren’t providing their needs or basic requirements to be happy, healthy, thriving, etc.

I'd suggest only approaching her if she has several "exit routes" and never keep going towards her when she backs up. That way you will gain her trust. 😊 She definately suffered a lot physically and mentally in her previous home

Unbelievably unfair and I am so glad she made it out of there and is now getting to experience proper care, no matter what she has been through it seems she understands that shes now loved and so quickly too. I hope she can make a full recovery from the neglect and find an amazing family that will spoil her every single day. They are very small. Even though previous owner neglected the poor bun, they did keep the pellet bowl full 24/7, unfortunately with no hay or veggies, but at least she wasn’t starving. Bunnies chew on stuff, not because they are hungry, but basically she was very bored as well as frustrated by living in these conditions 24/7.

    3:40 This is inexcusable my best friend had two rabbits before re homing them because the were moving and couldn’t take the bunnies with them. But she was 15 taking care of the rabbits, cleaning the cages(they had separate cages because they didn’t like each other) and feed them a healthy diet of Timothy hay and treats and pellets. If you are old enough to have a pet you are old enough to take care of it.

    Heartbreaking to see those conditions that she was living in! I'm sorry, if your lives are too busy to pay attention to what your daughter is doing to their pet, as someone who is only 14 yrs old, they have no business having a pet or allowing their daughter responsibility for a pet. Those parents were as responsible for the welfare of that poor bunny as the daughter. Thank goodness for Eva and her way of talking to them so the rabbit could be rescued and thank you Austin for your part and taking her in.

    "She became more sociable (she's more social) and asks for pets." When you said that and looking back when she was agressive before, I froze when I realized. I read the pinned tweet before starting this video and I was heartbroken because what if (towards the end of the video) she knew it was her time... so she asks for more love even for a little bit 💔
    Thank you so much for providing love, care and comfort for her in her last moments. She was extremely happy that you and your friend saved her ❤ Rest in peace, Echo. You are loved by so many people 🫂

    Omg this is way past neglect. How did this poor baby last 7 years. There wasn't any hay in sight during the first part of this video in the cage. I'm so glad she got the love she needed before she sadly passed away. It takes alot for me to cry but this video made me cry. The sadness in her eyes of being left alone with completely nothing😢 The amount of pellets may have given her gut stasis as they are only suppose to have small amounts a day especially if she wasn't use to eating them to suddenly having loads. RIP little girl. Free from pain now 💔😥
    Makes me love both my house rabbits 10x more if that's even possible.

    I am a rabbit owner and I while I appreciate the earnest desire to care for this rabbit, I hope that everyone realizes that they took the animal out a stressful unnatural place and placed it in another unnatural place.
    I used to keep my bunnies indoors in the same pen arrangements and allowed them to roam the house from time to time. After many rugs and damaged based boards, I then decided to let them explore the backyard during the morning periods and soon observed the difference in their behavior. It was astounding. They reminded me that they were now IN their natural habitat by digging and burrowing in and between the hedges, exploring the setting up territories, and then by eating select shrubs and herbs that seem to sought out. The truth is that we are not letting these animals live in their best environments. It is just impossible to recreate this setup indoors no matter how much we try. They were designed to graze and burrow and dig and explore. As such, I created little "safe spaces" for them to access fresh water and pellets and shelter form rain and would let them roam as much as 8 hours in a day. They are the happiest bunch I know and even made friends with the neighbors cat who comes by the "play". Its so odd to watch them lay down on the grass together and chill.
    Anyway, just wanted to share my experience with these animals and hopefully increase awareness and sensitivity to their needs. Also, please neuter or spay as recommended.

      Well said pal. These monkeys took the rabbit and put to sleep. If not well cared it wouldn't have lived for 7 years. These Muppets took the bunny and killed it and now trying to make money out of it.

      I don’t know where you live, but that would be cruel in my area to leave rabbits or guinea pigs outdoors. We have hawks everywhere and several foxes in my neighborhood. Also there are loud barking dogs next to the fence. Most people have chemically treated lawns. We also have harsh winters. To say they need to be outside isn’t safe or realistic for most people, since they are prey animals.

    • @verdielg
      @verdielg หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JA-oz8qy Firstly, I'm so sorry to hear about Echo and her journey. Heartbreaking 😔 Animals so often suffer harsh treatment and abuse at the hands of humans.
      I realize that my prior comment above would be considered extreme and somewhat anti progressive. All I know is that my bunnies very much enjoy their freedom and opportunities to graze in a space that is fully natural which is what I am fortunate to offer. They seem to be happy...content. The predators where I live are typically snakes and other domesticated neighborhood cats and dogs. However, it is more tropical in climate so no extreme weather conditions or temps. My backyard is also fully natural and studded which shrubs, lawn, fruit trees, a small koi pond and a concrete patio.
      The rabbits have burrowed in areas around the yard and would usually go there during the day to stretch out and sleep. As mentioned, they also have their own isolated, lockable x pen's that I use when I need to keep them separated and there I keep their litter trays, pellet and water bowls and other tubes and misc play things. My buck spend most of his time in this space while the females prefer to lounge under tables and plants stands. At night they lounge on the lawn under our mango tree.
      I came across a youtube channel recently that reminded me of my setup except that it was way more beautiful and rustic. All of the animals on this farm live harmoniously.... th-cam.com/video/M3g_ebjUuaY/w-d-xo.html

She was such a fun wee girl and it was thanks to other youtubers that I was able to educate my family on rabbits. I'm glad Echo got proper love towards the end, thank you for saving her and giving her the much needed love she deserved. Shame on the family for not knowing any better.
