- We adopted a cat and LOVE HIM but my fiancé's dream is to have a puppy too so we opened up our home to another fur baby. Meet Chopper, our chow chow puppy. In this video, we're sharing what having a cat and puppy is ACTUALLY like. From bringing our puppy home, introducing them, the training we had to do, and how's it going with Bepo and Chopper.

Not only was I happy you adopted a cat, I was thrilled you got a Chow puppy. I've had Chows for 40+ years and altho you didn't ask, here's my advice: socialize Chopper with all kinds of people and other dogs; don't neglect obedience training; Chows can be stubborn and willful.... don't let him rule the house. Keep training sessions short. Chopper is adorable and so is Bepo.❤️

@@diamcole Keeping training sessions short is recommended because puppies are like little kids - short attention spans. And making training positive and fun will help a puppy (or kitten!) to associate training (and you) with good things. Older dogs (and cats!) can be trained as well; just keep it short and sweet. Their attention spans are a bit longer than puppies or kittens but still pretty short - like older children. Happy training! 🐾

I’ve had cats and dogs for 20+ years and I’m very impressed with every single thing you’ve done. From adopting a cat(an older one at that) to feeding him very good quality meals, to training your puppy as soon as you got him and correctly introducing them and giving them the same quality time and love. Soo impressed!

I also adore ❤ that they each slept with their respective fur friend ((🚶🏽♀️+🐈)+(🕴🏽+🐕))=🫶🥰💞 to give them comfort during all the new changes happening in the home with the new furry family member moving in.
I love that you have shared your new pet owners experience because y'all went about it so empathetically. You definitely did your research on how to provide for all of their wants and needs. You have provided them with lots of enrichment & stimulating items and toys.
Also, the introduction of the 2 was totally what any experienced pet owner would do. Add each other's scent to the others area to learn of them and slowly introduce them over the next couple weeks.

@@LoveDogs___3 Chopper is most probably not from a shelter. I don't see purebred puppies that small in shelters. And usually, puppies in shelters came from rescued or even surrendered pregnant dogs and also from puppy mills.
i love that you didn't just prioritize chopper because he was new and a puppy and also made sure that bepo wasn't neglected. tbh this is something a lot of people miss even with their real life children! such cute pets!!

I'm amazed how smart he is that you were able to train him so early on at his young age to "Sit", "Look up", "Stay" - Which adds to his CUTENESS !!!! Thanks for posting this.

Every time we would get a new dog, our cat Waffle would lose some hair. He always got along with them, though initially it stressed him. Waffle is chill with dogs, he did not understand that dogs usually chase cats haha. A dog who saw Waffle in the window was going crazy and Waffle was just _“whatever.”_ Waffle passed away this Thursday. He was with me for 17 years. I miss my friend so much. Rest well, Waffle. 💚 I love your videos with Bepo, I hope he gets along well with Chopper.

Honestly the names are so creative, Bepo is also an character from one piece, bepo is an white polar bear mink which honestly suits your cat and chopper is also very relatable

I just want to say I'm so impressed and thankful for all the work and care you put into both of them! It was really thoughtful to get taller cat trees for Bepo, and then you made sure to play with him more and show affection and attention on purpose... just everything, you really think things through so thoroughly and put your whole heart into caring for your animals. It's really beautiful and also a great example

My cat also didn't like it when we got another cat, and it got moody and stopped playing with us, but slowly, they started getting along with each other, and it developed into love!, now they sleep hugging eachother ❤❤
It's totally normal for cats to behave like this also because they don't have the same energy as a dog so they don't get along and get annoyed by them sometimes, I'm pretty sure Bepo and Chopper are going to be good friends ❤

I can honestly say so far the interactions between these two are good, my puppy has territorial issues with my cat and your puppy is doing very in regards to sharing spaces.
U two r such great parents. We need more ppl like u both!! So patient ❤ Chopper will get more mature and Beppo will love to play with him soon!! Tysm for not making Beppo feel lost and sad!

but another good way to help socialize is to go people & dog watching, let chopper take in his surrounding without having to interact a lot, it's really good to help minimalize bad reactions

This is so sweet. Owners who have done the work with a breed known to be aggressive. Dog and cat can live together peacefully because of this. And they are best buddies

I'm so glad you got a chow chow omg! Also advice!; make sure to use a harness instead of a collar. Especially because if you tug on fluffier or chubbier dogs(really any dog) it may choke them!! Also, love ur vids!

This is the second dog I have seen that has the name Chopper. Its such a perfect name for a small brown fluffy animal!
OK you two. I've had dogs and cats my entire life, but I have never, ever been able to train a PUPPY that young to do a sit, stay, and down! And most went to puppy training classes, our last one, twice, lol! You are doing absolutely everything right. Socializing with people and other dogs, play, training and how you introduced Chopper to Bepo. Great job! I also love your ultra modern pet accessories, lol.

Love the name chopper!! I foster kittens, I always recommend slow introductions so separating them was a good move and I always say you keep them separated until both are comfortable. I also love playpen or the gates you put up. it helps them be in each other's areas but still be separated. And food, treats and lots of playtime together is great too

I love chows! I’ve had one for over 8 years now and he’s amazing. He used to not like me. This is probably because we got him a little late during his puppy age, but now he start’s whining every time I leave him. They’re the best 🤩

Usually a kitten and a puppy adapt to each other better and faster, but with an adult cat and a puppy it can be a little more time-consuming work, but patience is also a trump card. We now have a one-year-old smooth-haired german shepherd puppy, which is a hunting dog now already one year old. We also have three senior cats and when our dog was still a puppy we had to be extra careful because with a senior cat and a puppy we have to be very careful not to get hurt. An older cat usually wants more time and space than a young cat

Cats have more scent glands than dogs. But you typically cant train a cat to search luggage. Im so impressed with how much research you have done and how well you applied those techniques. Very impressed with you both

I think the vet should have told you to maybe wait a few days or let them see each other through a gate or something. May have been too much too fast. Other than that, your babies are just so cute! ❤
I agree! Luckily, we were able to readjust and that helped a lot. They’re coexisting really well now ☺️

I have a Chow at home and when we first adopted my cat, my cat was a bit careful and feisty at first but now they sleep together! it’s truly adorable

chow chows are very territorial, owned a few of them and they are amazing family pets. Hopefully you socialize the chow well. I was actually bitten by a family friends chow when i was a kid on my neck missed my juggler but they had to pry and take a bat to him to get him off me.
