      We had a full sized oven that cooked like this at a kitchen I worked at. Had a probe and settings for just about everything. You could proof dough, steam, air fry, broil and bake. It also could clean itself just throw in some tablets and let it go. I think it cost like 30k tho lol

  • @MichaelDavidWiller
    @MichaelDavidWiller ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Honestly, I'm sold. If I'm comfortable enough with an ingredient to cook it manually (or because I enjoy it, like steak) I'll do that, but the other functions stepping in to make things easy for dishes I don't normally cook is a huge selling point. I'd be more willing to try new things rather than relying on what I know, and of course it makes it easier to prep a bunch of dishes simultaneously.

    I am incredibly tempted. But... Kickstarter is such a risk. I've been bitten a couple of times. So, when they've actually manufactured these things and put them in a store where I have the option to return the thing if it doesn't work, I'll actually buy it. So be sure to give us a link when that happens!

    • @AlokSomani
      @AlokSomani ปีที่แล้ว +7

      So Dreo already makes other products that are available in the market, so they are not as risky to back in my opinion. Plus they raised so much in the kickstarter campaign that they've already announced they are going to do full scale production runs for this.

      @lisaboban ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@AlokSomani Yep! I'm familiar with Dreo. But if l buy this $250 gadget and it doesn't work, I have no recourse through Kickstarter. If I'm buying a $50 gadget, that's one level of risk. At $250, that's a much higher level of risk.

    • @hicksvillain9865
      @hicksvillain9865 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm with you with Kickstarter being a risk. I'm still waiting on a smart watch from 10 years ago. The one thing that gives this one a little more confidence with this machine is that the delivery plans is this summer and they are already mass producing it. No prototypes, what they've been giving to YT chefs is what you're getting. So hopefully you can get one from a retailer by the fall, if you choose to wait.

    For as cool as this thing seems to be I expected the price to be ridiculous but actually not.

    “Remember back when people did all the cooking? Man, those were the days”
    “My Dad still does is sometimes, but robots just make everything so perfect”
    “And fast. Just watching them dice veggies makes me glad I don’t have to be in there with them.”
    “Back then ‘fast food’ was just burgers and cheap snack foods. Now it’s everything.”

    I have only one question which is I'm wondering how easy this thing is to clean after use.

    You were too generous for that salmon and you probably know that. But I don’t need a machine that does everything perfect, I’m already more than impressed on what it does do right! Now the only thing we need is shipping to Amsterdam.

      Salmon is so easy to get right with just a pan sear, that adding the complication and bulk of cleaning an appliance in unnecessary.

    I still don’t get it 100%.
    If the reviews are totally authentic (not only on this channel), DREO seem to have nailed the “culinary part” of their technology (which most devices don’t get right).
    I bought an Anova precision oven, and it should be able to do all of this even easier. However what I find is, that it is far less “automated” and less foolproof. I am still experimenting a lot - and as an oven it is great - as an air fryer it is ok, as sous vide machine it works better with vegetables and worse with animal protein (I went back to add my stuff to bags!). So while the technology seems to be definitely far more advanced, DREO has a huge advantage as they really nailed the recipes and the integration.

    The only objection to this video I would bring up is that there are NO ROBOTIC components in it. If it were a robot, it would have a manipulation device inside. Great auto-cooker though.

    There’s no such thing as a sponsored review, it’s an ad, that’s it. And even an ad of a kickstarter where you don’t even know if it’s a rugpull or not

    Hot take here I think an air fried steak is pretty good. Not prefect though however for a fraction of the work I like it.

      Beef is so expensive though that it feels like a huge waste of money to put it in an appliance. Chicken, yes, beef, hell no

    Too bad they ship only to US, CA and UK. Air fryers are movable convection ovens with an extension cord. Even if this is an air fryer with a steam function, the meat will come out more juicy; it's a step up.

    Make a video of yourself against the machine. 3-4 types of food or simply a full meal. (Marcus can be in charge of the machine) Written with the help of Google Translate so hope you can read it.
