I'm pretty impressed how well it cooked with how little effort you put in. This is definitely something I will look into.
I’m impressed with how you can use the app to observe the current cooking situation, and also choose the doneness and cooking method of the steak, which is really cool!
As someone who doesn’t cook and seeing you cook, I enjoyed this content so much. More of this, Josh 😂
Some people don’t cook but it doesn’t mean they don’t know what well-cooked food tastes like.
A steak, beef, salmon or whatever, is an expensive item and easily ruined during cooking. This device will cook it really well so allowing someone who doesn’t cook to get great results.
Absolute godsend, I've wasted so much money and time trying to learn to cook and failing miserably.
I ended up buying a second one to make side dishes simultaneously.
Pays for itself unless you're already very competent in cooking,
but saves an absurd amount of time either way.
Thank you for the video, it helped me make up my mind to purchase a Dreo Chefmaker. I might start cooking again.
I've had mine for about 8 months now. Best small cooking appliance I've bought so far.
Great video! I bought mine on Dreo’s site for $239.00. I haven’t tried it yet but your video inspired me to do so especially since I consume a lot of Salmon. My daughter steams asparagus in the microwave and it is crispy perfection!
Did it smoke while cooking the steak? Don’t want anything setting off smoke alarm.
I own a lot of kitchen gadgets and the DREO is my favorite! Makes a perfect steak every time! Makes the best everything! I post my creations on my instagram. If they made a larger toaster oven size like the Breville Smart Oven I’d buy it! I love their searing technology!
I absolutely love my Dreo! I’m a carnivore so food gets kind of boring very quickly. But it helps me to choose different meals.
I bought one but haven't unpacked it yet as I'm moving soon. Great video!
Mine arrives today. We are eating carnivore so this should be awesome and make it very easy for my wife to cook great meats if I am not in the mood to cook on my grill or smoker.
We also own 2 Dreo air circulators and a ceiling fan. Dreo makes awesome products.
How is the experience ?
I planning to go carnivore .....is this machine really good?
I dig the idea of it, but what holds me back is you're always cooking your meat along with plastic. I don't want plastic anywhere near my cooking products, especially plastic at high temps could mean cancer later in life. Wish they sold a stainless steel version, I'd gladly pay more for it. Fellow carnivore here too - cheers!
When they start using non-toxic stainless steel for the food container, grills and other accessories then yes. The Tastee has a stainless steel grill/ meat holding tray. All of these fake ovens need to be used cautiously and infrequently. I would get a convection oven with air fryer capabilities and usually it means you can buy high quality stainless steel accessories. Look at the warnings about lead and BPA exposure when shipping to California. I have a ninja air fryer that cooks well but it’s got nonstick coatings which are a problem. Why don’t they offer stainless steel alternatives?
Non-toxic would be nice. Also, this is waaaayyy more than your garden variety air fryer.
my concern as well and what holds me back from buying one is the fact that you're cooking your food with plastic. I'm trying to remove plastic from the kitchen altogether!
For Asparagus, usually 14 mins at 375 is enough for me. If you're doing 400 or above, 10 mins or less. Easy way to tell is with a fork, if it easily allows you to push the fork through the skin, then you're good.
just got my Dreo yesterday, it's an amazing machine. thanks for this review!
Btw. The ninja foodi does something similar. It's an air fryer and pressure cooker with a thermometer too. You can steam air fry which uses some water to cook the food faster.
Is there a toster mode to make a frozen eggo waffles like in my flip ninja air fryer?
Does the basket contain téflon?
@@kaiserpaige if I reread your response you're saying it contains teflon material.
@@olaf9957 yes, the basket contains Teflon but it's PFOA-free and BPA-free according to what I've read in Dreo's group page for their CM.
@@kaiserpaige it's good that it's free of those nocive elements. Unfortunately teflon is also very bad to cook with, especially at air fryer temperatures.
@@olaf9957 That's actually incorrect. I'm unsure where you got your info from. Teflon is safe up to 260c/500f. The max temp the Dreo is capable of heating to is a digitally / thermostatically controlled 232c/450f.
Well within the safe temperature range. The biggest thing to be careful of is to make sure you don't continue to use a nonstick surface if the coating is damaged.
This is the same for any nonstick coated pan. This is the downside for any nonstick coating out there. Some pans are sold, marketed as "nonstick" that aren't....Ceramic coated pans are regularly marketed as nonstick for example. However anyone who has actually owned ceramic pans knows all too well that they are NOT nonstick. A nonstick surface does not require the use of oil or butter to cook which ceramic does. And even with oil they will still stick at times.
At this stage, most people know enough how to care for Teflon as its fairly odiot proof. The real problem lies in how many idiots we have in today's society. 😂
At a minimum:
1. Do not cook above safe temperatures listed by the manufacturer.
2. Do not use metal utensils.
3. Do not continue to use is coating is damaged.
I personally add a few more care instructions to the care of my nonstick pans such as:
4. Avoid cleaning in the dishwasher. Even though many pans claim to be "dishwasher safe." If you go to the Teflon website it will state that this is only the case if the pan comes from a "trusted manufacturer." I personally have no list of "trusted manufacturers." Corporations are profit-driven so at a minimum you can always count on them to do what they can to cut costs. Since you cannot visually tell the quality of coating they have used IMHO it is best not to assume and just stick to hand-washing.
5. Do not use propellant based spray oils/cooking sprays such as "Pam." Even the ones that claim to be safe for all surfaces should be avoided. The oil itself is safe, it is the propellant that can break down coatings overtime.
Using these common sense approaches I have rarely had to toss out pans with failed nonstick coatings. I cannot claim "never" as I did follow all this advise and still had a pan fail though it was a very, very cheap pan I purchased for the design. After it failed, it became a wall ornament instead. In retrospect, that is all I should have ever used it for. Perhaps I should add a #6?
6. Don't trust the cheapest version of anything.
@@genesishep that is when teflon is new. Once teflon is used, or the coating is scratched, wears off, it passes through the food. This is well documented online and why more and more people are cooking with teflon free ceramic, cast iron, steel or stainless skillets. Now everyone cooks the way they want but I personally did some research on the subject because I prefer to avoid dangerous cooking materials, especially when cooking for the fam'.
Which iPhone case are you using?
louboutin
That salmon is overlooked
Not surprised about the asparagus. That’s some pretty slender asparagus. Even with a ‘smart’ appliance, one sometimes needs to exercise some more personal judgement.
@fordhouse8b… Glad you mentioned that as I thought the more mature stalks would end up being cooked the way he was expecting. My own personal choice when buying asparagus is always the bigger in (diameter) stalks. If the skinny underdeveloped ones are the only choice, I bypass buying those.
@@suemcknight9051 Yes, the thicker asparagus will have sufficient time brown before turning limp and shriveling up.
It needs to be just under $200 for me to consider it being worth it. I think the sweet spot if they can be profitable on it with volume would be 165 to 185 dollars. I'll keep track of sales but I think $280 plus tax on Amazon is steep.
I think they’re $260 including tax now with a $120 coupon code
It's 209 on Amazon today
I'll wait for the stainless steel version - if that ever happens. Plastic is toxic at high temps
Really interesting video!
only 1 piece at a time??
You can cook more than that. I have done whole chickens in mine with no problem.
Does it make french fries?
yes, it has an airfryer function too
damn i thought this video was from TLDR aka Jonathan Morrison. Your thumbnail and profile photo is so similar to his
Halfway through the video it seems like the cooking time is more using this compared to just throwing something in a regular pan or oven...
45 minutes for a stake?!
No, thank you.
Yeah that’s kinda long for that small steak. I wouldn’t buy this anyway tho
Just did some research, apparently sous vide'ing a steak for medium rare typically takes 1-4 hours, so compared to that, 45 mins isnt bad.
@@CU-Later this isn't really sous vided stake this is more like an air fried one.
@@logic_bot3753It is sous vide. When the sous vide stage is finished, the oven automatically changes program to sear the steak and complete the cook so you open the drawer to a seared steak, not the normal gray colour.
@@CU-LaterThis uses Delta-T sous vide. Normal sous vide is a given temperature & it raises the food to that temp. With normal sous vide, food temp isn’t monitored so the long cook times ensure the desired temp is reached.
The Dreo monitors temperature via the probe so can go above normal sous vide temp to accelerate the cook but not so much that it doesn’t give edge-to-edge uniformity. No need for a bag either.
The Anova Precision Oven also does Delta-T sous vide at home with a probe but the Dreo is a lot cheaper.
Dangggggg Don
I bought one last year but haven't taken it out of the box yet. lol
Wow, that is an expensive airfryer to still be in the box, hope you have used it now.
@dianeyoung2914
I still haven't opened the box yet. lol
I probably will soon, though. I have other things that I bought like 20+ years ago that I have never used. I don't know why I do that. 🤔
@@heavenbound7 LOL, I think it is an addiction, kitchen gadgets, just gotta buy things that you don't really need but want. I mean I was actually looking at this and considering it and yet I recently purchased a Procook Health grill that does everything, air-fry/grill/bake/stew/roast/dehydrate/slow cook/griddle/broil and steams for £179.00! I guess I shouldn't tell you that in case you go and buy that too lol. Guess I should wait a while to see if I 'need' the Dreo.
Wanna send me yours?!
@dianeyoung2914
I finally opened the box two days ago, and I cooked 2 cowboy ribeye steaks in it. They were delicious!
Just get a $99 Meater+… the main thing that this does is let you monitor temps real-time and a meater will let you do that.
It does way more than that.
You didn't show us the bottom of the steak. Almost nobody does. If they did, it would look like boiled beef.
I have owned Dreo for quite a while now and it doesn’t look like boiled beef. You can always flip it over it you would like…not a big deal.
@madisonc2410 it would be overdone then, and the few you tube videos where they show the bottom look the same.
Other than the gross chewing noises, this is pretty dang interesting!
VERY different today
Keepin y'all on your toes 👀
Clearly you don't own an AI Airfryer
I think the explanation in the video is really poor hence some dumb comments.
The AI aspect is missed really but that’s the point of the machine - to give someone who doesn’t really cook much incredible results.
Poor video, there are many, many better ones out there explaining the machine.
Good video but you are have the wrong angle when showing the food - it is very hard to see the actual done-ness of the meats indside.
Enthusiastic owner of a Dreo Chefmaker so happy to find your video and hoped to pick up tips that would help get the most from the machine. Unfortunately I had to give up, just can’t tolerate chewing at full volume! I know that I am not alone, also that other people are less revolted by eating noises. Sorry but I won’t be watching other films, a pity because otherwise this was well done and informative.
Oh dear…😂 little sensitive flower here…
Its said rub the butter not melt it and brush it.
