So...get a phone which is stable enough and lasts for your uses a full day plus a bit to spare
If you require a high end phone for that - get one or you will be unhappy
If a midrange device works out - get that
No reason to overspend
Just be sure before you buy
I'm glad mainstream reviewers are now dabbling into midrange and budget Android offers especially those from Samsung as their value-for-money proposition are underrated at best.
I own a Samsung Galaxy A70 (the previous year iteration of the A71) and I have never regretted that purchase since. This phone is my main driver that I use for both personal and work-related tasks and it does them all pretty well.
I'm probably upgrading to the Galaxy A72 next year since that pretty cheap price tag actually allows me the choice to regularly change phones every 2 years. ❤️
It's not TH-camrs dabbling into midrange and budget, it's Samsung start paying ads on midrange and budget.
Watching this on my A71!! Really a great all rounder phone. Yeah, as it is a Samsung, some extra needs to be paid as brand Value. But with my use of 3 months now, phone is really great and a very useful product.👌👌

I'm really impressed by the A71
I've used a70 since last year and it's a great phone. The a71 is the same 90% just a processor and camera upgrade + punch hole. Everything else is the same. I'm wondering why a71 is getting all the hype when a70 didn't get that much hype.
@@peteradeosun6736 Because a lot has changed in the midrange space since. The Pixel 3a (and more importantly) the iPhone's SE have been released at affordable prices. Now bigger TH-camrs have started paying atte to the midrange phones, although Thao has always featured the midrange phones
@@peteradeosun6736 Maybe marketing? I know the A line has never been a thing in the US and Canada, so they're just getting to know it a little bit better. Sammy probably didn't try too much last year.

I work in a phone store and we sell the A51 and a71 all day long. Great phones! I'm a OnePlus 7 Pro user right now but I must say, if I had to buy a new phone right now I'd buy the A71 in a heartbeat.

Seriously my favorite tech reviewer. I ended up getting the s20 as an upgrade to my s9+. Feels like a different world.
The a71 was a contender, but I wondered how it would fare 2 or 3 years from now. The lack of water resistance, no dex, and no wireless charging broke the deal for me. I got too many wires in my home as it is and already dropped my s9+ in the ocean on a fishing trip lol
Thanks for the eyebrow raising review though. The a71 is definitely a great phone for those who don't use dex or care for wireless charging.
How did you get your s9+ back
I got the A71 over a year ago and I am so pleased with the phone. I can go two days without charging. It covers everything I need it to do and it has a headphone jack. I am not going to spend almost a 1000 dollars on a phone when the mid range phones are so good.

Thanks for pointing out the delay when taking a picture, this is something that annoyed me in previous Samsung phones.

This phone looks nice. For many years I used Samsung budget phones and like two years ago I switched to a flagship phone. I really noticed the difference and totally impressed with the experience of a flagship phone. I would think twice going back to a midrange phone but this one looks great.
I have the A70 and I think this is one of the best phones from Samsung as was the A70 last year
Sme but i had a glitch for a month that ended yesterday where it would take 2 minutes to turn on the screen. Did u have it too
@@shivshetty3045 no...bought mine when it hit the market last year and I love it.even after one year of use i still struggle to kill the battery and is showing no signs of slowing down.in fact it got a bit faster with the android 10 update.screen is still beautiful and the cameras are good enough for me. The one caveat is some update came through that was supposed to make the finger print better but made it worse instead.aside that the a70 is a good phone. Serves all my needs for a phone right.
@@shivshetty3045 I am also using the A70 from August,19. Not having any issue like that, I did a factory reset after Android 10 update, everything is working fine and smooth.
I've had a70 also since August 2019. Wonderful phone! I got my Android 10 - One UI 2.0 update in March and it was smooth. I didn't do anything extra. I'm here asking myself why a71 got so much hype and a70 didn't when in fact, they're like the same thing 90%

I have the Samsung Galaxy A71 & A51, two Awesome devices; unlocked and work well under 4G LTE
A71 is basically an S20 Lite!!! 😅😂 I absolutely love it. You get to enjoy all the basics and not being a gamer makes this a great all around budget friendly phone. 😍
the a71 can game pretty well just it loads a bit slower than the flagships

i went with the a71 though..
just bought it last week..
for the sake of faster charging, front camera EIS, and better night photo shot, i choose a71 instead of a51.. LOL
Back in 2015, flagship phone only cost $500-600 while midrange phone cost $400, so most people just add extra 100-200 and buy flagship such as Galaxy S6
nowadays, flagship can cost up to $2000 (look at Galaxy Fold), while midrange still in 300-400 bucks, of course people who didn't need a flagship feature such as "The fastest processor, 16 GB of ram, 512 GB internal storage, 100x zoom" choose mid range phone.
Modern midrange also perform as good as last gen flagship, for example galaxy A71 antutu score is comparable to late S9 / S9+ and beat S8 / S8+ / Note 8, while S8 itself is still a capable powerhouse to do most task these days.
why do you ask for water resistance and wireless charging on a 400$ phone, tell me which 4-5-6 or even 700$ phone has both water resistance and wireless charging?

Hi ... i have a really urgent answer needed for this question... are you facing a yellow or green tint while lowering its brightness to around 5 to 15 percent? If you search for videos like a71 screen issue you can see it and if you google it, you can find almost all a71, the s10 lite are having this issue... people who got their units with a new one are also facing same issue...waiting for your reply... thank you. This issue is only noticable in grey backgrounds... example in samsung internet with network off, settings page, whatsapp, custom message app etc...

Having owned a phone with a 120Hz refresh rate display for a few months now, I just cannot go back to 60. Everything is so incredibly smooth, whenever I try switching to 60 for the extra battery life I find it to be extremely choppy and go back to 120 almost immediately. Is this feature alone worth $1000? Probably not, but when you combine it with the other improvements you get things start stacking up. Flagships are still worth their price tags imo, although the difference is getting smaller each year.
The a91 comes out next year & It seems to have nearly the same specs as the a71. Would the a71 still be a better buy?

Important question to me is the haptics good? I'm not gonna compare it to a flagship vibration motor of course but is it decent for the price range? And comparing to a80 what's the difference between both because now it dropped price

Hi thao, did you notice a green or yellow tint at low brightness usually 5 to 15 percent at grey backgrounds in night mode at dark environments. Slowly increase brightness from far left at grey backgrounds then you will notice...Almost every smartphones even Apple got this issue and Apple offers replacement...

Who needs a flagship phone....while if the kid range is like a flag ship already....imagine the 6.7 screen super almoled the chipset is descent on 730 G snapdragon its smooth....camera is a descent....fast charge battery.....It's goes like these if you be got lots of money to spend you just want to take the S20 ultra if you are a middle class or just a practical people with a descent smart choice A71 air definitely to choose its very worth it.....

Very good review. Voice is a wee bit jaggy, though. Anyway, I´ve always refused to spend big money on phones for features I would never miss, like glass backs (why?), waterproofing (requires an IQ over 40 to make this superfluous), camera(s) even better than the one that was the best ever (even ancient smartphones can take very respectable photos), and scratchability (I've never used a screen protector or case, and no scratches, cracks, ever.) At the moment I have a Samsung A6, which suits me fine, and cost about half of my previous Samsung S4, which was in its day a great mid-price phone.
Where do you get that wallpaper , where can i download it ? I also use the same phone !! I'm talking bout the purple flower colored wallpaper 3:45
Fingerprint sensor totally sucks. I tried who knows how many times with several different fingers to enter it into the phone. After applying the finger 50 times in different ways it either tells you that it can't complete it, or everything seems to be fine until you actually want to use it and then it won't recognize it however you try. Seriously considering bringing it back.

If its going to drain the battery while recording/playing videos and playing games, then what use is a 45000 mAh battery. Might as well go for the flagship. And i cant deal with slow cameras taking processing time. Its not water resistant, so what if you're out and you get an important call to take in the rain ? if you cant take a call anywhere at any time then its as good as a brick.

Not a bad review. Simple but entertaining. Solid delivery. My only gripe is that you didnt dictate or display some key specs that most keep an eye on or maybe i miss it along the review (e.g. battery, ram storage, SD card slot or is it hybrid, night mode shots, etc..) Either way, it would be nice to see some numbers or specs on screen. Other then that, it was ok

Yea, it is a great phone, mine dropped and screen shattered meanwhile my old Note 9 fell many times but still intact except for some scuffs around the edges. A71 is everything good except for not having a tough screen
Pretty sweet phone but I'd get a S10+ renewed for $450. Flagship processor, wireless charging, dual speakers, waterproof, and dex support.
At first looking at the A71 or even the A51 it felt like I'm looking on a 2020 Samsung Flagship particularly the S20+ or S20. Well technically those A series phones came first before the S20 series. The only few things I will miss if I use an A series apart from dual stereo speakers and wireless charging is as Thao mentioned is DeX which for me is a big deal as it practically replaces my laptop in so many ways. I wish they had supported DeX and stereo speakers on this. But instead of A series why not consider Note10 Lite? It has the features of the Note series on a cheaper price tho the caveats are it lacks wireless/reverse charging (which I use for my Galaxy Buds), DeX feature, official IP rating (tho considering Samsung added a gasket on Note10 Lite's SIM/microSD card tray they basically made it water resistant minus the burden of paying extra for a certification which they'll eventually pass to the consumers in comparison to A series which doesn't have any such rubber gaskets in the SIM tray if you notice) and QHD+ resolution (which doesn't make a lot of difference with FHD 1080 if you have a normal human eyes).
So what phone that has beetter speaker then? From mid range

Samsung S10e, last year's mini flagship but the processor is still pretty good, or the newer S20. not the + or ultra model. just the s20.

For the shutter lag I always turn off the shutter sound and not having to play a sound file usually speeds up the process. Hopefully turning off the camera shutter sound is an option.
Best buy has both the a71 and s10 for 549.00. You could just get the s10 for pretty much the same specs and have wireless charging and water resistance, I guess depends if you want flat or curved display

I've never used a Mate 20 Pro, but with it being 2 years old.. I would lean towards the A71.

Water Resistance can be problem cuz i have dropped my broke up samsung S8 in plenty water,spilled juices and what not with a multiple fracture screen and this ancient model phone of 2017 is still kicking. Thanx for review of A71 i will be mindful of that feature and its could be a buy.

I haven't used any of these mid range phones but in the US one thing that I know is that a lot of the carriers only really offer either super low end devices, or the flagship models. At least that's how it is with Sprint where I live. I do agree though that phones have been getting too expensive these days.

Do you know where the best place to buy this phone online, I live in Thailand but want an international version that works in the USA on AT&T network too? I've seen it in the shops here but I don't think Thailand sells the international version. Also the many products I might buy from Amazon will get stuck at customs and won't make it directly to my condo, so I don't know how or where to buy this phone for the international version any ideas would be appreciated.
