I really like what Hyundai have been doing with their N division. I bought a 2013 Genesis coupe, bk2, 3.8, and it's been great. I've put 143k on it, lightly modded it, and decided to add a 23 Elantra N last year, and so glad i did! Hyundai / Kia have really been trying to listen to the car community with their designs, and some of their performance stuff. I loved the Kia Stinger, and the N stuff with Hyundai is such a bargain. I was torn between getting a Veloster N, Kia Stinger GT2, Camaro SS, or Elantra N. I mainly decided on the Elantra N was due to the price and the warranty

I just got mine not too long ago, I have wanted one of these for around 3 years now and I did it after so long. A dream come true

I had a 991.2 911 7MT in 2022 and drove a VN DCT. Immediately went out and bought one, I since sold my 911 but still have the VN and still love it, no plans to sell.

That's AWESOME to hear! I drove a tuned 991.2 C2S manual with the boost turned once and it was great, but something about small and plucky, but competent hatchbacks are truly hard to beat. Glad you love your car! How do you like your DCT gearbox?

I just purchased a manual 2020 Veloster N performance package with 70k miles and 1 owner, I think I got a good deal since I paid 20k including all taxes and fees. My first driving impressions are that I am absolutely blown away by the handling and the pops are extremely loud in person. I hope it will be my daily for years to come.

Congrats! The pops and bangs are rather "sharp". Super entertaining bouncing the sound off the rock walls of the canyons, or even tall buildings in urban areas.
      Thanks for watching!

Great review. I feel like Hyundai's N are the few that actually care about us having fun for a great value. I currently have a 2015 Infiniti QX60 that's been very unreliable (love the space bc I have 2 little ones) but I am strongly considering an Elantra N with the DCT. Perfect fun family-able car.

      Thank you so much!
Sorry to hear about the Infiniti, but based on how good the Veloster N is, and what I've seen about Elantra N, that seems to check out.
      Thanks for watching!

@@ExhibitionofSpeedbought it new May 2021. I have 89k miles on it now. Only nonwarranted expensive item that needed replacement was the fuel injector, which went out around 83k miles.

We'd love to film one! Maybe we can get back to our roots and do some production value videos again. 🤔

I’m the owner of this Veloster N in the video and I actually just helped to review a GRC and VA STI comparison, so I can give you a quick idea.
The Veloster N is more theatrical and fun. It feels more like a classic hot hatch, you feel everything and the car has character. It WANTS you to be unruly and will follow you through on all inputs accurately and sharply. With my tune it is noticeably faster than the GR Corolla.
The GR Corolla is a completely different experience, but you actually need to treat the car the same as you would a Veloster N when making it handle. The steering is numb and the suspension isn’t communicative… and the engine is just a power pusher and no more- but it’s incredibly fun in the same way the Veloster N is. I drove a GRC Circuit. I actually ended up connecting to it the same exact way I connect to my Veloster N, trail brake into oversteer and plant foot into turns- except the GRC has one difference in the fact that it will 4 wheel power slide instead of rip your face off into a turn on power.
The issue with the GRC comes with how to extract that oversteering character. If you don’t know how to set up corners properly EVERY TIME and don’t know what tools to use in that moment, you WILL NOT get the handling out of the GRC. It *requires* driving skill, whereas you can still extract fun out of a Veloster N without as much driving skill. I’m talking, you need to be perfect to get oversteer back and forth- and I did with the GRC. Without perfection, you will find 85% of the time the GRC will understeer. It’s less rowdy and asks more of you. The Veloster N is more rowdy and just tells you to keep pushing and being funny.
I loved the GRC, but I also have a perfectionist mindset in approaching corners, and I don’t think that the GRC is for most drivers besides being a comfortable daily. The Veloster N is more widely approachable and more funny of a car.
Also the interior of the GR Corolla is atrocious but the seats are nice.

Well, I need to drive a GR-C now. Let's revisit this in the spring, and we can do a head-to-head.

Personally not a fan of Hyundai, and would choose a Mk7 Gti🙈(i dont like any newer ones) maybe its because im biased as i work on them. But im happy to see you guys post a new video

Thanks James! Now that the GR Corolla is a thing and coming down in price, it has also piqued my interest. Need to drive that too. Both of us just find VWs to be more comfortable, but also more boring than other contemporary cars.

I had a mk7 GTI before a Veloster N and I can tell you the Veloster N is amazing. Don’t get caught up in a being a Hyundai it’s a fantastic car. More rowdy and fun than a mk7 GTI and it’s a fantastic daily.
