Vince Gill started writing this song when his friend, country singer Keith Whitley, died. He finished it when his brother passed away. Check out Vince's version with Allison Kraus and Rickey Skaggs. Home Free does a wonderful job with this.
Thank you for sharing more information on this i will definitely check it out!
Thier cover of Brothers in Arms is powerful. Liked and subscribed
😢❤ #HomeFree are the best! Thanks for this reaction ❤ Subscribed for Home Free
You're welcome and thank you!
@@StrikeReacts 🥰🥰
Home Free is a wonderful a capella group, who not only sound extraordinary but are able to bring out the emotions of every song they take on. I urge you to listen to more, as they are super talented; each member has their own strength, but combined they are most definitely more than the sum of their parts! A good place to start is Man of Constant Sorrow, but as they also love to have fun, check out their Sea Shanty Medley or Hillbilly Bone. Have a good trip down the rabbit hole that is Home Free!!
Thank you and I love learning more about different groups and i would love to check more out from them thank you for the suggestions
This is emotional and heartbreaking song. Thank you for your reaction. # HOMEFREE. ❤
You're welcome!
I always get teary watching their last hug. It reminds me of when I hugged my son before he left to go to Iraq in '03. I sang this when I scattered my aunt's ashes. She always loved this song.
WELCOME! HOME FREE is an amazing a capella group and we fans are referred to as Home Frys lol. Would luv to see ya react to more from them. Let the music play and my church are a few zi think ya would enjoy! Great reaction! 🤙
Thank you very much and home frys I love it i will check more out for sure!
Love #HomeFree
New subscriber. Great reaction, too! I love it when people discover Home Free. They are a freakishly talented group of fellas that excel in all music genres. They can make you laugh sometimes, they can make you cry sometimes but they always impress. Here's a cheat sheet on the group: Adam Rupp, co-founder of HF and the awesome beatboxer. Tim Foust, bass. He has a five-octave range. Rob Lundquist (glasses and beard) Tenor Harmony. Austin Brown, Lead Tenor. Adam Chance, Baritone ( goes by Chance). Chance replaced Chris Rupp (co-founder) who left in 2016. Take Me Home Country Roads is phenomenal but you might also want to check out Dreamer, When A Man Loves A Woman, End Of The Road, One Man Band, American Pie featuring Don McLean, I Swear, Blue Ain't Your Color, Dive Bar Saints, The Driver, Crazy and Folsom Prison Blues. For some funny ones: Butts Medley, All About That Bass, Champagne Taste, Hillbilly Bone and Ray Stevens' Mississippi Squirrel Revival. When you are familiar with all the boys and their vocal roles, do Mayday. And last but not least, Brothers In Arms. It is haunting and beautiful. They have recently released several new songs that you will want to check out. Unchained Melody, Listen to the Music, Brother and Stargazer Lilies trilogy: Give Me A Sign, Stargazer Lilies and Mr. ...Their latest releases are Might As Well Be Me, Playing With Fire, Remember My Name, Oh, Pretty Woman, Cruise, Stand By Me, Colder Weather and Life is a Highway. To switch it up..try Two Country Singers try singing Opera. Adam Chance just wrote the theme song to Ubisoft's new Pirate themed video game, Skull and Bones and Home Free performs it. Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole!
Thank you so much and also thank you for all the knowledge:) i will check out all of them:)
Brother you have just been introduced to the best a capella group out there ,lesson this is not all that they do they are masters of all genre's with harmony's second to none. Man jump down the Home Free rabbit hole its a great ride. Great reaction man.
Thank you and I love their voices and the fact that they can do so much is amazing!
Their rendition of the song is so hauntingly beautiful & sad. As always, their harmonies, singing & beatboxing are terrific. Tim, Austin & other artists do fund raising for at-risk veterans (excerpts of which are available on y/t). Their rendition of "God Bless the U.S.A." with Lee Greenwood and the U.S. Singing Sergeants is incredible! They also sing this live on the "Country Rebel Church Sessions".
Home Free is the best! They do a huge variety of music and each have a very impressive vocal range. Perfect harmonies, the beatboxer and bass can't be beat. They can make you dance, cry and fall out of your seat laughing. Just subscribed with hopes for more Home Free reactions.
Thank you i will definitely check out more
Home Free is the best a cappella group, at least for me. (officially country but they can do all genres). In addition to their wonderfully different voices (and best non-human beatboxer, although you can't hear that here) they also have the best harmony. They have great personalities and a real brotherhood that shines through in their music. They look at which voice fits which song. Sometimes one of them has the song, sometimes everyone does a part. In this beautiful but sad song it is Rob Lundquist. His voice is full of tenderness, so soulful, so pure, as soft as silk but yet so versatile. You can just feel the emotion in this song. Goosebumps. I don't know why, but every time he sings a shiver goes through my body.
Tim Foust sings the "Amazing Grace" part (this is not in the original). Tim is the (first) bass of the group. It can go so low that the speakers can explode, your seat shakes and you feel it in your bones. But he also does great at high range
Follow Home Free to discover the rest of the voices/guys. You certainly won't be disappointed, rather shocked at how great they are.
Suggestion:
"Man Of Constant Sorrow",
"Ring Of Fire",
"End Of The Road",
"Brothers in Arms",
"Stand By Me",
"Skull and Bones"
Etc etc etc
Great first reaction to Home Free. You picked up on all the essential things in the lyrics and the story in the video. Yes, his brother died. And "the Father and the Son" refers to God and Jesus. Home Free has a huge catalogue of beautiful work. Browse it and see what songs you know and like and start from there. A couple of favorites to begin with are Man of Constant Sorrow and Ring of Fire.
ok thank you very much i loved this song! I will definitely check out more!
And...another one falls down the rabbit hole. You are so doomed. We’ll save you a chair.
You’re about to be buried in Home Fries. Brace yourself.
Home Free is the only country a capella group out there, but they can - and do - sing every genre. And they have no lead singer. Every one of these men can take the lead, and they pick the lead for each song by who does it the most justice. During quarantine, they kept all us Home Fries sane by dropping new videos every couple of weeks while they were scattered across the country. God bless ‘em.
All the men can beat box, but Adam is in a league of his own. He’s a world-class vocal percussionist and there’re good reasons he’s called a “Freak of Nature” and “the man who swallowed a drum kit.” For more of Adam’s incredible beat boxing, check out Sea Shanty medley (the man makes castanets, for Pete’s sake), his no-monica solo on Working For A Living and Ain’t Going Down Til The Sun Comes Up (that video is on Facebook), Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer (sleigh bells? seriously?) or his drum solos.
For more of Tim’s seismic basso profundo, listen to Brothers In Arms, Misty Mountains (his collaboration with Peter Hollens), Folsom Prison Blues, or Ring Of Fire (the Sing Off version). This man’s range is incredible. You won’t want to miss his 5-octave run in 5 seconds in “Do You Hear What I Hear?”
For Chance’s smooth baritone/bass, check out Skull & Bones, Down to the Honky Tonk, Brothers In Arms, Cover Me Up, I Can’t Outrun You, and Folsom Prison Blues. (Awesome.. basso profundo and a baritone/bass in the same group.) FYI, Chance is singing (throat singing) the jaw harp sounds - without the jaw harp - in Man Of Constant Sorrow.
For Rob’s soulful tenor, check out End of the Road, Blue Ain’t Your Color, or Bless The Broken Road. (Blue-eyed soul is in good hands with The Beard.) One Home Fry has described him as the vocal equivalent of a Swiss Army knife because of his versatility. Just wait until you hear him whistle!
For Austin’s soaring tenor, check out Crazy, Moonshine, When A Man Loves a Woman, or Bring Him Home. (But bolt down your chair ‘cause he’ll sing you right out of it.)
For their humor, check out Butts Remix, Working For A Living, Life Is A Highway, Between A Rock And A Heartache, Make You Feel My Love, Brother, and Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget (Tim wrote the worst country song he could think of, and it remains one of their most requested.) A word about “Brother” - if you want to hear the lyrics, you’re going to have to listen with your eyes closed, ‘cause otherwise you’ll never get past the humor of the video to actually hear what they’re singing.
For their amazing arrangement skills, check out Do You Hear What I Hear. (Adam’s arrangement. Nothing else like it.)
For their tight harmonies, check out Helplessly Hoping, How Great Thou Art, Brothers In Arms, or Auld Lang Syne.
For their mashups, check out Thinking Out Loud/Let’s Get It On, Fishing in the Dark/Boondocks, Country Fried Pop, or Woman, Amen/Female.
The Home Free men are masters of collaborations. They put the spotlight on their collaborator, supporting them with wonderful vocals and amazing harmonies. Check out God Bless the USA with Lee Greenwood, American Pie with Don McLean, Elvira with The Oak Ridge Boys, Children Go Where I Send Thee with the late Kenny Rogers, Don’t Laugh At Me with Mark Wills, Christmas In Dixie with Alabama, Delta Dawn with Brooke Eden, or Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For with Peter Hollens.
Get at least five videos under your belt and then listen to Mayday - the official video. After Mayday, you’ll be ready for Tim and Austin doing My Maria or Tim’s mashup of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay.
Then, when you come up for air, check out Rob’s and Austin’s “Two Country Singers Try Singing Opera.” You’ll need smelling salts after that one.
Don’t miss their official videos. The Home Free men will often do a straight, gorgeous vocal performance, but they’ll add elements of humor to the video that will leave you chuckling or even laughing out loud. (Folsom Prison Blues, Between A Rock And A Heartache, Make You Feel My Love, Working For A Living, Brother, Life Is A Highway).
And God help you when you get hit with the Home Free Curse. They’ll cover a song you absolutely cannot stand and make you like it against your will. I’d been hit by the curse four times before I gave up and quit counting. I’m not the only victim of the Home Free Curse, either.
Although their covers are amazing, don’t miss their original compositions. They range from the the poignant (So Long Dixie) to the patriotic (Land Of the Free). These include Dive Bar Saints (one of my favorites), Road Sweet Road, Catch Me If You Can, Give Me A Sign, Lonely Girl’s World, The Stargazer Trilogy, Champagne Taste On A Beer Budget, Love Me Like That, Skull And Bones, and many, many more.
Their synergy is phenomenal. Each is an artist in his own right, but man - when they sing together, magic happens. Wicked talent polished by decades of hard work. (Unchained Melody, Castle On The Hill, Seven Bridges Road, Only In America) To paraphrase another Home Fry, “They don’t just own a cover, they upgrade it.”
You are doomed, Home Fry. Bring ketchup.
Vince Gil originally wrote this song for his brother who passed away. Listen to the Vince Gil version also.
New subscriber, hoping for more Home Free reactions. I suggest a happier tune by Home Free, a cover of Zac Brown Band "Colder Weather" and also an original of theirs "Dive Bar Saints"
#HOMEFREE I SUBSCRIBED FOR MORE😄🙃
Thank you!
Home Free is the best Acapella group out there. You need to check out How Great Thou Art and Man Of Constant Sorrow. Great reaction. 🍟
New subscriber hoping for more Home Free! They are my favorite group by a mile! They do songs of reverence like this one and hilarious ones like Butts Remix or Champagne Taste On A Beer Budget and everything in between. If you want to try something by them that’s a little more upbeat try Listen To The Music. It was originally done by the Doobie Bros and it will introduce you to their beatboxer extraordinaire. Great reaction, thank you! #HomeFree
you're welcome and thank you
Subbef for more of Tim, Austin, Rob, Chance and Adam
Thank you I didn't know their names which is which if you don't mind me asking!
Tim is the 5 octave jumping super bass profundo.
Austin is the amazing ginger tenor. He sings with Angels I'm sure.
Adam is their freakishly talented beat boxer who sings like an angel himself. I wish we got to hear it a little more often.
Chance is the sexy smooth baritone/bass.
And Mr. Rob, is their other amazing tenor. There is nothing better than Gospel Rob, who btw is also an amazing opera singer.
Thank you and that's awesome that he is an opera singer too@@Keeba7790
You should listen to Home Free version of how great thou Art
Thank you I definitely will
Nope, you can't beat Home Free! They are the best there is or ever was!! But Vince Gill wrote this song for his brother who died in the service. th-cam.com/video/6jXrmAKBBTU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=IwzmpIGNu_gmg7D5 He sang the song first of course. He used to be the lead singer of the band "Pure Prairie League" then he quit and went out on his own for a while. He sang with The Eagles. th-cam.com/video/gA2sclXHK-8/w-d-xo.html He is an awesome singer too. But nobody is Home Free! They are the best there is!!! You are right, nobody should ever have to go through that!!😢

Yes, the song is referring to God and Jesus. "Go to Heaven a shouting love for the Father and the Son".
Thank you for letting me know!
