Home Free is an “a cappella” band and this is a cover song of the Vince Gill hit. It’s so beautifully done. That was the young boy’s grandpa and the grandpa lost his brother. The younger couple was the grandpa and wife when they were young and he went to war. Home Free has a lot of songs. You might like How Great Thou Art, Heaven, Die a Happy Man.

Yes thare acapella with a beatboxer, but he sings too when not beatboxing like he did in this song. They are known for their great harmonies. The grandpa is sharing memories to his grandson of the war and how his brother died in that war. The soldier was the grandpa.

Please do not ever try and hold back your tears! They are beautiful! It may sound strange, but I feel there is a simple beauty in tears and sorrow. It is a pure, POWERFUL emotion that helps to keep us together and brings us together as humans. Not to say that being sad is always great, but that the rawness and intensity of its expression can help remind us what it is to be human. Of course, tears of joy are just as beautiful as tears of sorrow, if not even moreso.

My dad was in the military when he met my mom in the Philippines. Although I love the original artist, this video hits harder for me because I have a more personal relationship to the story. I hope you love Home Free as much as I’ve grown to enjoy them.

The song is about the Grampa's brother Jeff, who was killed in the war. Very emotional song. I cry everytime I hear it and especially with this video.

Home Free's voices harmonize so well together and whether the song is an emotional one such as this, or one that is full of fun and laughter. Each member's voice can stand alone by itself but works so well with each other. Again, I love watching the reacter so that I can hear their words but also see how their bodies react. My sweet Grandma who was my world, lost her first son, Bill at age 19 during this war. She never recovered especially with her last born son(which my son is named after, Vaughn) after serving in the Vietnam War.

this is a story of a grandfather and grandson who learns of his uncle's death, during WW2...
This song really gets me too. My grandpa passed away about a week ago and we actually played this version of the song at his funeral because I love Home Free and my grandpa loved this song. Before he passed I would always listen to this because it's so beautiful, but now I can't listen to it without crying.
I can't imagine how painful that Ashley notvseing our love ones anymore on earth but we pray that one day we will be part in the heavenly place where Jesus prepared to His people

Mis. the metal dog tags were brought home and given to the wife or family because the person died in combat the letter that the grandparent was holding was the letter from the military saying that his son had died.
This song was originally written & performed by Vince Gill for his brother who passed away. Him doing this song at the with Patty Loveless at the grand ole opry in honor of George Jones. Vince gets all broken up singing it. The message is powerful. Now another great country song that is emotional would be "Believe" by Brooks & Dunn.

I have yet to see a reactor who doesn't at least get a little teary-eyed at this song. It's just that kind of song.
You'll get lots of requests for songs of theirs to do, but honestly none of their songs are bad. Feel free to just pick one that looks interesting. A lot of reactors do the same set of songs, so it's always great to see a reaction to a song that's not gotten as much attention. I would advise against listening to "Mayday" or "Snow Globe" till you're more familiar with their voices and what they usually sing. They mix it up in those songs, so those songs are more fun to listen to with a bit of experience first.
One last piece of advice -- there are a lot of Home Fries (Home Free fans) and they can get really overenthusiastic and a bit overwhelming when they find a new reactor. Don't feel like you have to rush to immediately fulfill every request. Go at your own pace and enjoy.
