    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    What will a jig bite feel like?
    1. a single thump
    2. a slight "tick" (usually when a bass eats it on the fall)
    3. bait will suddenly feel "mushy" and you will lose contact with it
    4. you will see your line move to the side
    Effective in water temps 37 degrees and up
    Ideal conditions - fishing around structure, cover, contours
    Where not to fish the bait - shallow + clear water, open water
    As mentioned rock piles are a superb area to target in warm cloudy conditions due to increased crawfish activity. But also be sure to fish rock piles in cold sunny conditions because they will attract heat and ultimately fish since the area around the rocks will be a few degrees warmer than surrounding waters.
    Be sure to make multiple casts (up to 15) to isolated targets such as laydowns, stumped, pilings, ect. at various angles to entice inactive fish to bite.
    Swim jig - sweeping hookset preferred
    Flipping jig - vertical hookset preferred
    Colors for swim jig - white to imitate shad, green pumpkin/watermelon colors to imitate bluegill
    Colors for flipping jig - green pumpkin in clear water/sunny conditions
    black/blue in stained/muddy water or cloudy conditions
    1/4 ounce swim jig: 1-3 FOW 12-15 lb fluoro or 20-40 lb braid. 6'6" medium or medium heavy rod
    3/8 ounce swim jig: 2-6 FOW 12-15 lb fluoro or 20-40 lb braid 6'6" or 7' medium or medium heavy rod
    1/2 ounce swim jig: 3-8 FOW 14-20 lb fluoro or 20-50 lb braid 6'6" or 7' medium heavy rod
    3/8 ounce flipping jig: 1-8 FOW 15-20 lb fluoro or 30-60 lb braid 7' medium heavy rod
    1/2 ounce flipping jig: 2-12 FOW 17-25 lb fluoro or 30-80 lb braid 7' medium heavy rod
    3/4 ounce flipping jig: 4-20 FOW 17-25 lb fluoro or 40-80 lb braid 7' or 7'6" medium heavy or heavy rod
    (In windy conditions, increase weight of flipping jigs to maintain bottom contact)

    Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup th-cam.com/users/postUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.

      Brandon Jahn really u just cast and retrieve. You can also reel fast and then stop reeling, yo-yo it and reel it in and jerking it every once and a while

    • @manifestgtr
      @manifestgtr 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Two ways you can treat a chatterbait in my experience...
      Spinnerbait style...Kinda gives you another option when you don’t wanna throw a spinnerbait or a crankbait.
      Swim jig style...I took a 5 pounder today doing this. Cast or pitch it to a dock/bridge/cover of choice, let it drop then bring it in at a more leisurely pace giving it plenty of time in the “strike zone”. Gives em something they don’t see all that often. I like black and blue for this.

      @5280Bassin 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Frogs = summer. If you see emergent vegitation (weeds/stuff growing up to and sticking out of the water), throw a frog. Remember to use heavy braid and a heavy rod for a frog.
      Swim jigs - any time the water is over 55 degrees and clear.
      flipping jig - all year basically. With black and blue, make sure it's murky/dirty water.

    What should you suggest using for 80 degrees and sunny. There is also a lot of moss underwater

    • @1Rod1ReelFishing
      @1Rod1ReelFishing  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jacob Parks The bass are probably going to be deep in the moss. I'd recommend fishing a zoom super fluke over the moss, or a senko fished slowly with a lift and drop retrieve. I'm assuming something like a brush hog or ribbontail worm wouldn't come through cleanly is that correct?

    Not trying to be a bitch. But when you are fishing for Bass throw them back ALWAYS. There is no reason to keep them. Let other people enjoy their hobbies.

    you aren't setting the grub or trailer on the hook properly.
    you want to thread it onto the hook, not just running the hook through the middle. ....you are moving the hook point away from the strike. the trailer needs to set as close to the jig as possible. ...

    I fish in northern Ontario for big smallies and even in clear water where I can see at the most 12 feet deep they still seem to prefer black and blue.
