    Impeccable timing, as usual.. you always seem to post exactly what I need when I need it. I've never used jigs before and just bought a handful, with no idea what the difference is between them, or where to fish certain ones. Thank you, once again. I'll be on the water Wednesday with this video in mind. :)

    Great video. When I head to the tackle shop, I always stop and stare at the jigs and had no real clue about what each one is used for. Thanks for making another jig video. Someone posted earlier that you are going back to the basics with your videos, that's fine by me, I'm still learning the basics!

    Interesting point about the Palomar in grass. I don't have that problem, as I melt my tag line ends. Not only does the mushroom resist picking up extra debris, but it also prevents the tagline from working lose from the knot. Good jig explanations, thumbs up!

    I found that an uni knot or even a slipknot does the trick with minimal to no grassy gunk on my jigs.
    And let me tell ya that my pond has alot of grassy patches and nasty grassy gunk.
    I call it primordial soup for laughs. Lol

    Gene,
    Another great informative video. A couple things as follow up to this one. What about the trailers? It sounded like in the football jig video you pretty much stick with a crawfish with either high or lower action? It the what you use for all of these?
    Second I couldn't find that you have done one about how to skip a jig. That would be a great follow up in this series you have going.

    Football jig- cast and drag slowely. 1/4oz-3/8oz baitcasting setup.
    Finesse jigs-1/4oz and less on spinning gear. Fished similarly as regular sized jigs. But fished a little slower. Bladed jigs fish like you would if you joined football jigs and spinnerbaits.

    I love your videos. Right down to earth for someone who is just learning to fish. Fellow Dawg fan here, so keep wearing those G hats ;)
    One thing about this video though (somebody has probably already pointed this out). You go over the casting jig spiel twice, once at 1:55 and again at 2:06 after a cut. That intentional for clarity, or was it just an editing goof?
    Keep up the awesome work though, man. Caught my first bass in Georgia the other day in the dead of winter using your football head technique.

I know the Video reminders are easy to add and make your editing process quicker, but may I suggest scrolled or overlaid text which less obtrusive/annoying.

      Thanks Brion, I just have to use what works best at this point. Annotations don't show up on mobile devices so I can't use those anymore. By dropping that three second sub request my new subs on that video increase by over 50%. I don't like doing them that much but they are necessary for continued growth. What jig should I use for a lake that has the has grass that is from the bottom to floating on the top. I've see it in 10 to 15 foot. When I fish there everybody is some place else. This is a bass paridise. Bluegill and bait fish all over. I'm new to this kind of fishing. I've haven't had a bunch of luck. Not for the lack of trying. Any other pointer for this type of cover? • @shred5
    @shred5 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    My concept of jigs is simple: pitching and flipping jigs (archy head jigs) are more or less the same other than the amount of cover they're meant to go through, football head jigs, swim jigs (horizontal lie tie), bladed jigs, finesse jigs, hair jigs and jig heads.

    Great video and very informative. Have one question though about line swivels with the clasp type clip. When used to attach bait to the line, they allow you to change out your bait quickly as opposed to having it tied directly to the line, but do they really cause fish to not strike your bait? Do they really scare away fish?

    • @Flukemaster
      @Flukemaster  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think they scare them all the time but the do completely change the action of your bait and that's not always good.

    • @mariodesmo
      @mariodesmo 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks!
      I never thought it might change the action of the bait. On Texas rigs and other baits I will tie-on about a 2 foot leader to the bait/hook, and a loop at the other end. The loop end gets hooked into the swivel clip. I suppose the rig is free to rotate more than if it were simply tied on. Do you think that would also change the action of the bait? Thanks again!
      Keep those video coming! They're great, so much good info!

    Is a 7'4" spinning rod too long? Cabelas employee pushed me on to KVD's spinning rod because it was marked down $100 bucks, I'm starting to see why haha. Thoughts? Thanks for the help!
