    Nice video… probably should call out “Organizing music in Serato” since much of the organizing was done in Serato>. Good if you use Serato…. some of it applies to other software so good info

    Thank you so much for this video and thank for your presentation in Vegas at the Wedding MBA. I’m an old dog. Been doing this for so long and use to my old ways, but willing to update with the times and best methods of keeping my library organized. That being said, can I take what I have now (over 14,000 music files), and move them to Dropbox or start using the method you mentioned? Like the other comments made, all my downloads from BPM Supreme go directly to my iTunes library, because I’m still DJ’ing with iTunes crates (files)with Serato.
    I did pick up your book in Vegas. I saw that it speaks a bit about this subject.

    This is amazing, thank you Dj Hapa! One comment I have after trying out your system for grouping and smart crates is that I really don't think it's any faster than dragging tracks into regular crates... Here's what I mean... Say you made a crate called chill, and you recently just brought in 50 new tracks to Serato... Why not just drag those 50 new tracks over to the chill crate instead of making a smart crate, making the rule to search for chill, then go back to the 50 tracks and mark them chill... Seems like an extra step, no?

      🥇GREAT JOB... “Dj Hapa”... One can never know enough of this thing called Serato... SMH
      The best is the Dropbox never considered that option always jumping to computers with drives everywhere..
      Lol
      Good stuff implementing ASAP. 🙏🏾

    • @yoseansei
      @yoseansei 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      what happens when of the 50 tracks you just added only 3 are chill? Now you have to move the remaining 47 out to another crate or crates, depending on the genre or grouping.

    How do you feel about using external SSD hard drive for DJing? I am getting a Mac mini with 256GB internal storage, but I was thinking of getting an external storage and was looking into ones with thunderbolt capabilities since the Mac mini has 2 thunderbolt ports. I am seeing drives with from 2400 MB/s to 2700 MB/s depending on if you get TLC or QLC. I am thinking for performances I can use the internal storage and for my expended library of songs and other storage, use the external drive. What do you think?

    Dropbox syncs the music, but how do you move the Serato library to your Dropbox? Do you have to go in to your console to move the default folder from home-music?

    This is a great library management tutorial, I have always struggled with keeping my music/crates organized perfectly. Can anyone clarify something for me....is he only keeping his music in dropbox or does he have a copy of each song on his computer and dropbox combined? If I don't need the music on my computer I will remove them all. Lastly, in the case he is only keeping his music stored in Drop Box, will songs load instantly onto each turntable? or will there be a delay like when using Beatsource or tidal which are streaming platforms. I hope this makes sense, and thank you to anyone that can help answer these questions for me.

    • @ta34809
      @ta34809 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe you must have a copy of the file on your laptop since Dropbox is an external app

  • @dmurph6951

    Maybe a dumb question, but I have all my music on my external drive. Will drop box automatically update when the external is connected?

    Emoji's don't work for Dropbox when they are in the title of the song or in the artist's name as well...

    Is there a way for Serato to auto import? So for example if I download some tracks on Device 1, I'd like to be able to go to Device 2 and that song is already loaded in Serato without having to go to "Files" on Serato and drag it over. My second question is this. If the song has already been "analyzed" on Device 1 will it need to be analyzed again on Device 2? I'm thinking no as the bpm grid will already be set from Device 1 the first time it was analyzed.

    • @BpmSupreme

      The best advice if he plays on multiple laptops and multiple systems is to use an external hard-drive. Organize all his music on that drive, then compile his crates within Serato using the music on that external drive. Serato will automatically create a backup and store all the crate information on that external drive. So whenever he plugs that external drive into any computer running Serato DJ Pro, all his crates and music will show up. If he wants to auto-populate crates with new music then he needs to read up on using Serato's Smart Crates.

      @@BpmSupreme Would it be possible to store the Serato library on dropbox? I can't see why not -- but you should probably make sure to only run Serato on 1 machine at a time. Otherwise incoming changes could be confusing a running Serato.

    Wow I so need this to understand more thoroughly especially the Dropbox portion of it, I will have to watch it over again. I do have a question about transitions when they from low to high bpm how do you make serato to mark the bpms at each point of the transition. For example if the transition is 104 - 120 bpms but serato only tags it as 120 but not the intro of 104 bpms and when the changes up to 120 serato just keeps it 120
    So how get the software to mark it of intro of 104 and change when the track changes to 120? I've trying to figure out this one but no succeeding perhaps you could help with this one?BTW I love this video I need to thoroughly understand this one, great info thank you for this informative info that I was so looking for.

    This is a great video and I'm trying to embrace real time back ups on drop box. My question is how do I sync the data from hot cues etc up with .wav files as the metadata can't be stored on the file the same way an mp3 can. Has anybody got a good workflow for this? Not sure if I'm reading the documentation correctly, but I think this information ends up in the "Serato" folder on the drive...
