Thank you for sharing! 🙏🏼 Organizing my crates now! I followed on IG and it looks like we’re in the same state. I’d love to link up because I’m new here and starting my DJ career.
This was good to watch, very well thought out. However, for what it's worth, I don't like having so many different crates and sub crates. I use hashtags in the comment, grouping, etc columns to identify certain songs more readily. Keep in mind that the genres are already there and song titles (mostly) contain clean or dirty, I then use the applicable # in the Serato search bar to show the full list of what I'm looking for. I also color code dirty songs with red, clean with green. This process has proven to be less time consuming for me and keeps all music in one folder. I primarily use crates for specific events. Hope this helps someone.
I appreciate you breaking down this important step in djing! This organization is going to save me so much time and stress searching for that right track at the RIGHT TIME!!! Thank you so much!
I am currently going through the same thing. I did not understand why I should not use iTunes. iTunes has smart playlists also. I went through a lot switching over to store the music in Serato but it has been worth it! There are 11 header columns that you can change. I am using the COMPOSER column to put a C, for clean, and a X, for explicit. I am going to start putting keywords in to the REMIXER column. So in the smart crate I can say to include the keyword. I could have a song that is a sing-a-long and a dance. Just wanted to add a little input. Thanks for ALL you videos!
Very Insightful and Inspiring. Great explanation. I don’t use smart crates but definitely want to incorporate them more. What about purchases from Apple Music, Amazon?
So many ideas- on how to organize- By me watching Twitch- (twitch djs mixing) - learned this way is good- such as 1. 2010's- r&B hip 2. 2010's-pop/indie 3. 2010's-reggaeton/latin dance 4. 2010's-rap/underground etc..... this just an example
👍👍Good one bro.. damn good one.. I have doing this for a while.... Never this indepth with it😎🇯🇲🇯🇲😎👍👍keep it going bro... if there was an Avengers group for DJs... man.. you are on it..😐Im gonna make up one
Been doing mine through iTunes since 2014 and although this takes a lot of work to set up, once it’s set up, it’s HELLA efficient not having to drag songs into folders - besides for your personal playlists
@@DJLiftOFF it seems much easier. Sometimes I just don’t know where to start but I definitely know once I get a new laptop I want to organize everything differently. I have a lot of duplicates on my laptop cause I didn’t know it was saving in iTunes and in my downloads so it took up a lot of my gigs.
@@DjA.Sauce5 yup, I’ve had that same issue with duplicates before. I think iTunes is a lot easier overall but as far as when you’re actually DJ’ing, the smart crates will make you way more dangerous. There’s a lot of manual work with iTunes even though it’s easy. There’s manual work with smart crates but overall, it does eliminate a lot of manual work like categorizing songs by year, clean vs dirty, etc. But yea, def try it out!
I think just the external drive is fine if you’re drive has good speeds so that when you use it to DJ, there’s no lag. If you have tons of storage though on your laptop, I’d have it there too.
someone said that "I used to have a ton of genres and decade crates on my hard drive, but then dumped all my music into a single folder and created smart crates for all genres and decades. Smart crates make life simpler, for me at least". but my question is How would you manage songs if you have folders for different genres and events, each with subfolders? Dumping them all into one giant folder would create a long list, making it hard to find songs. How do you handle this?"
Great question! What I would personally do is after creating the smart crates, I would then make folders of all the different genres on my hard drive and drag the smart crate songs to their respective folders. It’s faster to manage that way but your point is very valid. It’s probably better to just organize them first but I don’t mind doing back ups afterwards by dragging over the smart crates
So you manually downloaded all of your tracks to get better quality and organization 😬😬. Seems worth it and time consuming lol. Can you upload a video on how you got rid of songs you don’t play? Is it basically based off of the number of plays and create a Smart Crate with the rules listed by the number of plays? Lastly, thank you for taking the time out to continue to educate the DJ community as always 🙏
Helllla time consuming lol, but worth it. I’m no where near finished and then have to tag every song’s color which is going to take a min too. Since I started over from scratch, I’ve just been going through my iTunes playlists and downloading songs from there. For songs I don’t remember ever playing or feel like I don’t need, I skip them. But to do it using serato, you hit the nail on the head. Smart crate where plays is set to greater/less than or equal to 0 - then from those songs, you can drag them in to a new regular crate and delete from there. I’m not sure how to delete from your music folder or wherever you keep all your music folder - gotta figure that out. And no doubt man, appreciate the support 🙏🏾
Okay if been watching you for a while Dumb question just because All your music are in crates don’t mean there in Mixing order right even your crates a reference point to a song quicker am I correct ?

Hi there, i have a question, I have got a denon mc 3000 dj controller, launched in 2012, its pretty old one but it's still works fine. I wanted to ask that should I sell it and get a new one or should I keep using it. I dont have money to buy new one though . Your opinion will be appreciated bro. Thank you.
I know you didn’t ask me, but if I may offer you some advice from a person that has many decades on this planet…Do not buy anything you do not need at this time. If what you have is working, keep using it. Nobody on the dance floor will know or care as long as you can keep them moving. When the time comes and you know you’re ready to purchase something flashy, make it count.
I actually with the other reply here! I would save up and get what you desire but in the meantime, if your gear works right now, stick with it. But I do undeterred the feeling of wanting new gear, trust me ahah
So how i never hear anyone said that drag and drop your files in serato never guarantee you received All of your music files..Always discover some missing from original library
Dope idea man. I keep all my iTunes libraries as back ups, similar to your archive idea. @wazzytv I don’t know think there’s a way to switch it unfortunately though because you have to create each smart crate
Cool I don't like alot of the dj pools because all they have is a bunch of remixes n techno stuff which i don't play I like original copies of songs not all the mash ups
Afrobeats, DanceHall & reggae are not the same....you must play for a lot of amercian partys.Afrobeats are by themselves DanceHall & reggae are 1.good info tho.
Thanks for the clarification 🙏🏾 - I know they’re different but I planned to keep them all under the same overall crate, with different individualized sub crates. “Afro” isn’t the right term for the overall crate - not sure what to name it honestly.
this was crazy to watch...organization to a whole new level. You and Cee B are doing the Lord's work for real!
🙌🏾🙌🏾 appreciate you man!
I need your help to organize my music list in sarato dj pro

💯💯 i feel there’s tons of simpler and more complex ways to organize folders and crates! Your solution definitely makes a lot of sense!
Stupid question, but what does dirty and clean mean? Explicit and not explicit or high quality and low?
@@tomlevitt4133explicit or not
DJ CEEB is the GOAT of organising his shizzle, learnt loads from that dude myself :)
Yeaaa I learned a lot and just added a few things of my own but he has hella gems on his channel

It’s interesting to hear you call the early part of the set as “waste time” 😅

Yea smart crates saved me! Plus Organizing my warm up, chill and bangers help big time! Especially genre bangers!

Can you make a video on how to fix songs with the thunder symbol in Serato?
You have to delete it is corrupt
Delete them,, they are damaged songs,,,,just delete and u will be good
Click Relocate files…..second add location to see where the folder were. Bring folder back into serato
