It annoys me how Serato has been around so long but has ignored adding any sort of music library features to the software. Library management is literally 50% of DJing these days. The pricing of this is way off though lol. Does any one know if the tags are written into the meta data any where? I've been looking for something like this for a while to make smart playlists with. If they're not written any where that's annoying though.
Tags are written to the files when you sync to Serato, because Serato saves everything into the music files. Your smartlists are sent to Serato too, and also kept in the Lexicon database. Tell me a bit more about what you're trying to do and I can help you through it.
Excellent explanation because I was wondering how on earth someone could charge so much for what basically seemed to be a marginally improved version of what I get for free with my DJ software and would just increase my workflow because yet another sync set of operations has to keep being done. I now understand how useful the software can be but think the company is living in cloud cuckoo land with its pricing. Even worse, I downloaded the trial. I registered my account. I clicked on Discord to see if there were hints or tips and the software just hung with endless green progress spots and no menu or any way to say "Exit". I shut the app down and restarted. It just permanently hangs with a completely black screen and just progress spots and is impossible to do anything with. Lame. Nothing on the marketing pages indicates how long the trial lasts for or even refers to basics like there being a manual that your video overview showed a mention for. All very unprofessional in my view, which is funny given how often the makers keep saying it's for professionals in an attempt to justify the eye-watering price tag. On the positive side, the very poor experience has saved me wasting time trying it out AND spending an obscene amount of money every month. Will be survived if this survives much beyond a year or two given my experience and the current pricing.
how stable is this software? slightly worries me how much you're stressing us to backup before using - wouldn't want to pay such a high price for something that's either glitchy or has the potential to destroy my library, in which case would be a giant waste of money
We just say back up as a word of warning, nothing to do with the stability of the software. We recommend frequent backups regardless of what software you're using :)
Lexicon actually makes a backup of your DJ app databases every day. But we'd still recommend doing a weekly full system (including music) backup. The software is very stable, but there is a small disclaimer: it works with 5 DJ apps that provide no documentation and no warning when changing anything, so when big changes in those DJ apps arrive, it's all hands on deck to make Lexicon compatible. Luckily that is a very rare event.
no one-time payment for life is a deal breaker for me. am totally against monthly subscription payments under any circumstances whatever the software offer
Software has never been that way. When you pay once you're locked into that version and if it's not compatible with new DJ software versions, new OS, updated APIs... You're boned! Development is an ongoing process to keep this software compatible with nearly every DJ app out there and their versions. The dev is a one man shop and rent comes every month.
sorry but £30.00 a month is just an insane price, I would pay £5 or so a month. or a one off price of 40/50 quid for a one off payment. I give them 6 months with this model, shame as it looks good but way out my price range esp when paying beatport £35 a month I can just keep my stuff on a HDD and keep it on there. good luck though.
But it does though. If updates the tags and can rename and move your files on the hard drive. He should have showcased this as it's a great feature. You can even set a watch folder!
My main question is with the different music organizing software out there is there a software that would allow me to edit/add/remove only certain tags or elements in the comment field on a large scale while leaving certain preexisting parts of the comment unchanged? So for example. Let’s say I have 800 songs that I already have tagged. Some of the songs share common tags but many do not. At some point I decide I want to add a tag to 300 out of 800 of those songs are to show that they are female artists, or female lead vocalists. keep in mind that these female artists are have their own unique tags based on the genre of music that they’re into, how successful on the charts they are, and when they came out, but I want add the fact that they are female artists to their already existing tags without changing what I’ve already tag. Is this possible with the Lexicon software, or any other music organization software that you all are aware of? Thanks in advance. Oh, and I use Virtual DJ by the way.
If your tags are text based then you can achieve almost anything. You can remove/replace/suffix/prefix text in bulk so I think it should be possible. Let me know a concrete example and I can tell you more.
Just tried Lexicon, hated everything about it. It feels as if DJs these days are trying to use as much as possible to make the process of djing easier and less cumbersome. The real enjoyment in djing is the BLOODY PROCESS and then presenting your findings in a unique curated manner. Do the leg work - crate dig, do the leg work - set the cue / mem points, do the leg work - experiment with diff types of tracks, tempos genres, keys you name it. Above all USE YOUR EARS!! The industry is fast tracking itself to being a "push button, let tech decide everything for you", Just stand there and look like your sharing a good time. Not a fan of whats going on right now in all regards.
We are fast approaching the "I did / do Nothing" DJ. Where is the enjoyment in all of this? No wonder why Grimes bombed out of her Shit show gig, no wonder why there isn't a single dj these days can beatmatch, no wonder the industry is in disarray. What ever happened to using your ears and feeling the vibe of the floor.
Netflix = Giant corporation with billions in revenue Lexicon = one-man passion project to bring synergy between all the major DJ apps on a niche market filled with many cheapskate DJs.

All very unprofessional in my view, which is funny given how often the makers keep saying it's for professionals in an attempt to justify the eye-watering price tag. On the positive side, the very poor experience has saved me wasting time trying it out AND spending an obscene amount of money every month. Will be survived if this survives much beyond a year or two given my experience and the current pricing.
sounds like user error to me.
HI CAN WE DO MP4
how stable is this software? slightly worries me how much you're stressing us to backup before using - wouldn't want to pay such a high price for something that's either glitchy or has the potential to destroy my library, in which case would be a giant waste of money
👌
no one-time payment for life is a deal breaker for me. am totally against monthly subscription payments under any circumstances whatever the software offer
@sangieredwolf i disagree as i have a lot of software that is one time payment and its for life with any updates too
CAN WE DO MP4
MP4 files are supported
390$ a year.... xD
sorry but £30.00 a month is just an insane price, I would pay £5 or so a month. or a one off price of 40/50 quid for a one off payment. I give them 6 months with this model, shame as it looks good but way out my price range esp when paying beatport £35 a month I can just keep my stuff on a HDD and keep it on there. good luck though.
That's the Pro plan with unlimited cloud storage. For all other features, you only need the Basic plan at a much lower price.
@@lexicondj I agree with Phil,50 quid one off seems cool for basic..Simply can't justify a rolling sub,far too expensive.shame
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
17:58 Bro deleted literally air at that point
wait, so it doesn't even update the actual MP3 files? What's the real point then.
But it does though. If updates the tags and can rename and move your files on the hard drive. He should have showcased this as it's a great feature. You can even set a watch folder!
FL Studio Shortcuts 🙌🏻

Far too expensive. Shame, for a reasonable price I'd be an immediate buyer. 15 per month is just foolish.
👏👏👍
Let me know a concrete example and I can tell you more.
shame the code doesn't work anymore i'd have given it a go
It's MIX20 and worked for me yesterday

tried lexicon, got a refund....wasnt suitable for the music pools I use vs cleaning up my tag info
I'm a bedroom dj can i use lexicon
Of course
@@Crossfader thanks
Yes, if you receive serious cash for your bedroom sets.. 😛
15 bucks a month for software that isn't polished enough to line up interface controls correctly? Absolutely not.
What ever happened to using your ears and feeling the vibe of the floor.
it's crazy that a niche product like this thinks it needs to have the same sub price of big streaming services like Netflix.. GREEDY!!!!!!!!
Netflix = Giant corporation with billions in revenue
Lexicon = one-man passion project to bring synergy between all the major DJ apps on a niche market filled with many cheapskate DJs.
Powerfull software but in my opinion not good for permanent use
Why?😊😊
This is mad expensive, would rather a onetime purchase. Gotta pass 😢
Help
My serato crashes since I downloaded Lexicon DJ
$39 PM.... nah mate
I didn't watch your video because you didn't mention virtual dj in your intro
Is there anything stopping you from just paying the first month, import your music library and merge and find missing stacks and delete duplicates etc.. do everything you need to do then unsubscribe? I can’t imagine it reversing everything you used it for..?
Nope 😀
Does this work for converting serato Smartcrates as well?
