      Tail wagging just means excitement it can also be bad excitement though like anxiety, which is more likely since the dog is not used to being groomed.

    When I got my Red Heeler, he hated being brushed too. So I started sitting down on the floor with my Blue who loves being brushed. Every brush stroke, she gets a treat. My Red wanted treats too! He eventually relented and let me start brushing him. Mwahaha.

    You know I see more of your energy, that you really care about these babies, even when they wanna bite you! Yes your a business owner, which, hats off that you even have the guts to try that now days, but the animals feel that your a good person that really does care more for them which is how it should be! Love you and your family that support you. Thank you so much!

    This was extremely helpful. My dog is about the same size as Ceaser. He's a Morkipoo and is impossible to cut. Think he had a bad experience with a groomer once and never been the same. So now I " Attempt " to do it and always end up so frustrated that he ends up unfinished and looks kinda funny and sloppy looking. Km gonna try leashing him up today and just go for it. I get anxiety over it because he makes it so impossible. Great little friend but my enemy when it comes to grooming.

  • @GabrielWolfe
    @GabrielWolfe 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    This is why you need two bars on the same side, parallel to eachother. Attach the leashes from both side and it will keep his head still. Its literally the same concept that is used for horses and cattle to keep the head still. Plus he'd be less likely to whip around, fall and kinda frikkin hang themselves. Just a thought.

    Hi Dede! Love watching your videos. In regards to your cord, have you considered looping it from the ceiling? It would be out from under foot and easy to hang when you need to use your hands on the pet. I’m sure you’ve already heard this suggestion but I do this with my (I’m a photographer) lighting cords for tripping safety. Anyway, hope this helps you. Have a great day!

    • @Edendog
      @Edendog 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bayla Schauer I recommend asking a really good breeder about Springer grooming. You’ll get the best info from a specialist. Breeders are super enthusiastic about their breeds and experienced.
      Springers have a light wave to their coat and the feathers need trimming and sometimes the coat needs a bit of a trim too. But it depends on if you get a snow coat type or a sporting type springer, too.
      I think they’re really fairly easy to groom at home as long as you begin practicing when they’re puppies. Springers are very energetic and a bit fidgety so teaching them to stay still for a groom takes consistent training starting from puppies.
      I recommend grooming in the evening after a long walk. Then they’re relaxed and in a nice quiet mood and they’ll enjoy their pampering and massaging and trimming by their person. It’s when I do all my grooming too.

    I’m a vet tech not a groomer. I have a question if you had another pole at the other end of the table to loop a leash around the back of him to keep him straight would that help or would it look like a torture devise? I’m always thinking the dog is gonna fall off and hang himself. This is probably ridiculous but it keeps popping in my head. You really are an inspiration to me and although I don’t groom so many of your techniques are useful to me. Thank you for your help.

    Excuse me Dede, I know the cord on the clippers gives you trouble, have you considered stringing it from the ceiling? I have seen that be a useful cable management system for power tools, but I’ve never worked in a dog grooming setting so it’s up to you. If you think this might be helpful, I recommend using a retractable extension cord reel.

    Thank you for sharing video. You know how to handle pets during grooming process. What I have learn most from your videos is the education part. Communication is key when it comes to clients expectations of how they want their pet groomed. I like the fact that you will show clients how they act and how matted they may be. This is so the clients don’t expect perfection. I believe comfort over vanity. Again, thank you. You are brave for the showing grooming process. Geesh, I thought you play with puppies all day! Lol. Good job.☺️

    Oh my, so cute! Dede I have an idea. Maybe you can use a slip knot on that groomer helper when you tie it to the pole. The dog can pull on it but it won't let go until you pull the one end with one hand. We use it in the hospital to restrain some combative patients. It's safe in that it can be a quick, one handed release method only when you pull on the one end. Just an idea, hope it helps. Love ya girl! ; )

    Hey I only see a blue and red furminator on the site but the one she’s using is green any idea how you figure out which one you need? My baby is possibly a Cavachon or Cavapoo. Very thick undercoat on her back but silky and loose curls on her chest??? Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Do you think that the metal clip ons work better than the plastic?

    How long did it take you to complete his grooming from start to finish?
