Yeah. This game had so much potential, but it's clear that some things could have been developed more. I would have loved to see a Gaalsien campaign with an alternate ending.
These videos would have been better if you had decreased the game volume. I wasn't able to hear you at points. That being said, there are precious videos on this game and yours are very appreciated.
This kind of video is exactly what the community is missing. I hope you continue to make these! It's a good idea not to talk too fast, but actually I think you talk just a little bit too slowly in this video. A little bit more speed would be appreciated, to reduce the video length and get more detail. Just a suggestion, you can do with that what you wish.
Great content mate, it's easy to tell that there was a measure of planning and preparation to the whole video. As a beginner in this game I'm finding these massively helpful. Thanks a bundle~!
I would guess only the tips of small dunes. The heat of the shot would turn the sand into a glassy substance, turning the already effective-at-blocking-bullets sand into something even more powerful.
It really took me a while to get the hang of this game and properly figure out how to play it. I used to be really bad with the aircraft and had campaign missions where I'd loose massive amounts of my army because I didn't quite get just how strong certain units were when used properly (Namely the scouting function of the baserunner to augment my railguns and properly killing off LAVs before they could slip past my AAVs.)
Wow, this is a great video! I only wish that the chatter and music was turned off, or the volume was far lower. Some times it's hard to hear your voice. I am going to look at your backlog of videos for sure.
love hw games and lore. but i miss the "save game" button on dok... i dont play to finish quick, but long matches to build, upgrade and rank up the entire army, against 2 or 3 enemies. an rts game without "save" utton is very, very bad.
If it's not much of a trouble, can I ask you to remake this video which includes the things you have learned about the faction thus far as well as strategies and etc? I think it'll be interesting to see just how much of your thoughts and strategies changed since then
I honestly prefer these guys over the other three, mostly because of my play style- defend first, then overpower once the enemy's run out of resources/units. It kinda works... XD
Yeah. I like messing around with the Khaaneph in skirmish. When I get a computer that can actually handle this game, I'll probably become a more or less dedicated Coa player. Mostly because of the turrets.
Always good to see content of Homeworld. Thank you but I think you should lower the ingame volume next time. Do you have a guide to coalition multiplayer also?
Would it be possible to get faction overviews for the factions in Homeworld as well? This video, and overall series of videos, have been really helpful for me as somebody looking to get into this series and I would LOVE to see some detail looked at for the Homeworld factions as well.
It would been amazing if they some how made Homeworlds space combat tie into the ground combat in one game. I keep wishing an RTS game would come out combining space/land. I tried star wars but, the ground combat is rough to say the least lol
Homeworld 4, return to Kharak (in my own imagination) You send an expedition back to Kharak after rumours about survivors planet side, on your way there, you have to battle in space and land ground units on planets, moons and giant space stations. Or they can turn it into a conquer the galaxy game
The technology looks very believable. Shame it doesn't have base building. It would have been interesting too see the design on the buildings. I have played a lot of Command and Conquer and the MCV and buildings are one of my favourite things from those games.
@@Dreamlands15 I haven't played it though. Looks fun. I absolutely love the concept art. Thats why i wanted to see buildings as well. Because the design is so good.
@@johanjonasson4188 you can see Coalition buildings in the first and second campaign missions, and Gaalsien buildings in the seventh mission, if you are interested in their look
Yes it is. The majority of the community is here on the Homeworld Discord. discordapp.com/invite/0iObC1nAGCaSEPOp Feel free to join and get to know the players :)
15:35 .... how did u suddenly got hovering Assault Cruiser....is that Coalition one, or is that Gaalsien one...I started a game one day ago and i am bit confused :P
yes they are indeed! Dreamlands can you suggest if the Khaaneph really need the HGC? Isn't their whole military supposed to be around missile tech? HGC should be a Gaalsien specific unit like the VANGUARD battlescruiser is different than the railgun Soban battlecruiser. At this point in the game, anything the Gaalsien player can do, the Khaneph can do and more.
Is the Coalition battlecruiser stronger than the Soban battlecruiser with railguns? The Khaneph command cruiser has tremendous in game utility with the cruise missile ability even from Power lvl 3. It can function as an early spearhead siege cruiser. What though is thespecialty of the Coalition command cruiser? Is it sronger at command than the other 2 command cruisers? I say that coz the Khaneph CC can kite it to kingdom come and it won't be backed into a corner quick enough such that its damage output to the oppsing CC won't be tremendous. Also the Soban seem suited to counter the Khaneph Siege cruiser rush. The Soban battlecruisers wont be as easily micro intensive as a railgun line.
Anirban Bhattacharya The Coalition Carrier has the most utility. Its very strong in combat and the repair beams are extremely good. With a few points in power and some armor upgrades your units are really hard to kill.
I wish other RTS games had this level of unit feedback. Makes me feel like I'm actually commanding real combat groups.
Battle chatter is the best part of Homeworld in general.
@@Phantomsbreath This is so true. I can't overstate how much that adds to the game.
i never felt so emotionally invested in a game since my early HW1 days. I wish the campaign was longer.
Yeah. This game had so much potential, but it's clear that some things could have been developed more. I would have loved to see a Gaalsien campaign with an alternate ending.
Your way of speaking and mic quality work together really well to make you sound like your one of the bridge officers from the game
Honey Badger maybe he is!
These videos would have been better if you had decreased the game volume. I wasn't able to hear you at points. That being said, there are precious videos on this game and yours are very appreciated.
Thanks guys. I appreciate the feedback and support.
Dreamlands still the best, watching this in 2023.

Absolutely right. Except disagree with speech speed, I think it's perfect, allow to sink in for newbies
I think the speed is fine, but you can also change playback speed to 1.5x
Liked the video. In the final battle where both carriers faced each other, couldn't help but get a "GDI vs NOD" feeling due to the color schemes
Even in the space arabian future, kane lives
Mjr Tom allah Kane!
Y'know now that you mention it, Deserts of Kharak is a tiny bit similar to C&C4 in gameplay, isn't it?
@@subatomicseal7789 a less shitty version of it
@@Rifky809 Oh yeah it's infinitely better, but still a similar formula. Kind of. Sort of. From a certain point of view.
This was great, I learnt a lot from your explanations. Hope you'll be doing Homeworld 3 content in March!
such an underrated gem of a game

Awesome man, Im glad you are enjoying these videos. Thanks!
I feel much less of an idiot in this game now. Thanks a million for that!
Glad to be of service :)
13:10 - EXCEEEEPT, when they actually DO fire through dunes :|
Or though buildings...or mountains...
Railguns do that often!
I would guess only the tips of small dunes. The heat of the shot would turn the sand into a glassy substance, turning the already effective-at-blocking-bullets sand into something even more powerful.
Man the Siddim had a better paintjob
thanks. can't wait for the battle cruiser

Man, you are doing a terrific job with these videos! Exellently staged and exellently explained. You know how to use words. Thank you for this!
Thanks a lot man! I appreciate that :)
I do hope they make a 'Deserts of Kharak 2' after HW3. Or 'Battle for Hiigara' sequel or whatever!
There was great war in lore that happened before. So there can more clans with their unique features.
Kharak is great start but def needs some polish. Kharak 2 if it fixed all the rough edges could be big thing.
Good job Rag, this is a great video to introduce new players to the gameplay! Looking forward to the next parts.
you might want to lower the game audio a little, it's almost as loud as your voice.
Yeah, I realized that after. Future videos sound better.
Yep, v good video but can be hard to hear you at times over the game volume!
i played campaign at normal, it was very easy for me. but in skirmish i even sucked against easy ai, this video helped a lot
Ich lol Great to hear :)

I like those too :3 Usually I spam out strike fighters.. I sometimes throw in a gunship, or even a bomber if I'm feeling frisky XD
Always good to see content of Homeworld. Thank you but I think you should lower the ingame volume next time.
Do you have a guide to coalition multiplayer also?
tasman_devil Yes, in my Guides section there are a bunch of multiplayer tutorials for each faction.
Game sound is too loud vs your voice

@@Dreamlands15 Definitely understandable
Really useful, thanks!
Glad to be of service :)
Thanks for the video. Matter of fact it was hard to find, but nevertheless: great job.
Thanks man!
More of a movie then a game. If they spent less time on cuteness and more time on the actual gameplay or missions it would be worth getting
It would been amazing if they some how made Homeworlds space combat tie into the ground combat in one game. I keep wishing an RTS game would come out combining space/land. I tried star wars but, the ground combat is rough to say the least lol
Homeworld 4, return to Kharak (in my own imagination)
You send an expedition back to Kharak after rumours about survivors planet side, on your way there, you have to battle in space and land ground units on planets, moons and giant space stations.
Or they can turn it into a conquer the galaxy game
So basically, every game of DOK will at some point devolve into "It's over Anakin, I have the high ground!"
As all ground wars do
How do you make troops go by default in a place after spawn?
Set a rally point. There is a button on the bottom right side, but I personally use the hotkey 'Y'
The technology looks very believable. Shame it doesn't have base building. It would have been interesting too see the design on the buildings.
I have played a lot of Command and Conquer and the MCV and buildings are one of my favourite things from those games.
The fact that there is no base building is one of my favorite aspects. The feel of combat is almost like naval fleets

18:08 that seems natural
What about the small artillery/anitiair unit (mybe it wasn't in the game when the video was made)
Yep he skipped missile batteries. You can even se them on his research tab.
What I don't get is why the attack cruiser has hovering technology. This just doesn't make sense.

Ivan Kalazic Its built from stolen Gaalsien tech. You will see in campaign.

Anirban Bhattacharya Tough question. I really like all of the factions, but I think Khaaneph is the most fun.

I agree. I always say that Khaaneph should not have the HGC. The only thing that is better for Gaalsien is their Carrier in direct combat.
so basically you use some of the enemys uints but reverse engineered
I'm not sure when you would use the assault cruiser. Against a late game sandskimmer horde? Or what?
Jonathan L Think of it more like an "escort cruiser". Protects your railguns and artillery from skimmers and assault craft.
Ah, it all makes sense now. Thank you
