Carlos Carvalhal says losing Leroy Fer, Renato Sanches and Wilfried Bony contributed heavily to Swansea's relegation from the Premier League.
The Portuguese manager moved to the Welsh club at the end of December last year with the task of steering them to Premier League safety. After an improvement in results, including a nomination for the Premier League Manager of the Month award in January, he was unable to stop Swansea's relegation to the Sky Bet Championship.

He tried hard. Good guy, very interesting character!
He is a really genuine and top fella, great manager, i hope he gets a shot back in the premier league, cheers from Portugal
Absolute gentleman and an honour to have had you as our manager, even of it was too brief. YJB
Swansea City had a great run in the Premier League (many expected them to be relegated a few years prior), whilst winning the League Cup back in 2013.
So they've got more trophies than spurs this decade?
@@bri1085 Yes they did
he was a manager at Besiktas before. we loved him too
As a Swans fan, it's blatantly obvious.
The owners sell our talent and replace them with cheap crap. The same thing has happened every year since they took over.
We were good back at the start of the Premier league journey. After Monk left, we were terrible. I'm enjoying Championship football because we're playing better with a younger team in my opinion.
Totally agree, as much as I love Bony & Ayew, bringing them back was such a waste of money, we should've been looking for younger, hungrier players instead of paying big money for older players on inflated wages.
I agree but I'm still worried for this season. We needed transfers but we didnt get many. And if Mcburnie, Fer or Van De Hoorn get injured i think we are in trouble because they will be key this season and we also need to start playing Montero as was proven in Millwall
Honestly love this guy. He was given an impossible task and I wish we had given him a chance years ago rather than recently. I think he's a great manager and a great guy.
just love his humour & eccentricity. Swansea were doomed anyway, nothing he could've further done to save them.
hope Carlos Augusto Soares da Costa Faria Carvalhal comes back to the EPL soon!
We got relegated because we sold all our good players and did not replace them
Imagine chris kamara correcting somebody who forgot a players name😂😂
i thought he went off and they were making a sub jeff😆
We underperformed and lost our identity because we lost all the players that made things happen. The owners sold every single bit of talent we had and ended up with the worst team in the league. 19th was a compliment last season we were awful
Some tasty one-liners and seems personable. Easy to see how would be an effective teacher and motivator
Its pretty obvious, they couldn’t score goals. Ayew is no good
We would've stayed up if Ayew wasn't sent off at Huddersfield.
Keita and Fabinho Apologist which Ayew?
jordan ayew got sent off that ruined our team play for relagation
Jordan Ayew was too selfish in and around the box, Andre Ayew just seemed completely lost. I prefer our attack now because McBurnie, Celina, McKay, Montero and all those guys are all willing to pass the ball to get a chance on goal rather than try to do it themselves. We feel like a team again rather than just a bunch of individuals.
This aged well
He’s doing a great job at Celta Vigo and last year a fantastic season with Braga where he built a brand new team with academy youngsters and finished 4th playing great football! 👍🏼
Great manager!
There is a Colombian flag behind him. You can't unsee it.
@Humphree Lee No, it's the Columbian flag, the Venezuelan flag has stars in the blue
@Humphree Lee I think you need to, look it up you fool, on Google images it's not hard
@Humphree Lee Look it up!!
Humphree Lee u r actually a bit stupid aren’t u
@@thegoonerhd1778 Thank you!
Deserved to go down. Greedy board selling the best players every year and not spending any of the money on replacing them
BECAUSE HE WASN'T GOOD ENOUGH. Nah. He improved the team and they thought they'd managed it, but teams caught up and they couldn't get out of a rut
He should of been able to stay on he did well considering he had ayew,Abraham,Mcburnie and Bony upfront
No. Mcburnie was loaned out in Jan actually while Bony's ACL injury in Feb took him out for the rest of the season
Amir Ibrahim I know but they were there most of the season and useless players
Was getting worried there when he called "Jordan Rhodes" an important player lol, clearly he still has Sheffield Wednesday on the brain, which I do appreciate tbf...even if Ben Shepherd was trying his best to keep it only to the Premier League.
Haha yeah I was like "wait is he talking about Shef Wed? Or did he just say Ayew in a very strange way?"
i wish carlos come back we need him
He seems to be well liked at every club he's been at.
What a guy
I like him as a manager, the squad just wasn't good enough. Tammy with all his hype around him was obviously a couple of levels below Jordan ayew, Alfie Mawson made so many mistakes it was unreal. they just had too many "Kyle naughton", average championship players. Sam clucas was the worst midfield player I've seen in premier league and Swansea paid 13-15 million for him. Michael laudrup was great for Swansea, they played a fantastic brand of football, but Swansea took him for granted and disrespected him.
Because they got the third lowest number of points.
Oh yeah thanks sherlock
Michael Owen would be proud of that comment
good effort with a league 2 quility team. king carlitos we love u
If they'd gotten him at the start of the season instead, they would of stayed up
We got relegated because as soon as he got us into a relatively safe position, he went so defensive it was unreal. Our last 4 or 5 games were shocking.
Good coach
I really wish Swansea City kept Bafetimbi Gomis, he was a sensational striker for them....
It's simple , Sigurdsson left !
So they were a one man team? No wonder they were relegated.
@@yeetwchybaban A year later you come back with the word " no ". Is that your best shot?
Because Carlos Carvalhal didn't play Leon Britton in the last 3 games.
Where is Carlo's shirt from during the main interview I really really like it does anybody know?
Andrew Hart Primark
Lol must be a Euro thing cuz you got me to look haha gjgj
Coz they didn't get enough points?
Cause he bottled it and kept 5 at the back!
Because they played like krapp and so was the management
Krapp? As in Krapp Klopp? Lool jk
We went down because Carlos bottled it
Can't stand Ben Shepard
I taught i was the only one he's a clown
leshter lol
You changed Swansea into a back to the walls defensive team and they couldn’t adapt. You refuse to drop Andre ayew who was playing like absolute trash for Tammy Abraham who was ‘young’. People will love him because he’s got ‘character’ but your personality won’t mask your failings last season.
Thats kind of harsh a lot of his tactics got good results
He did get 20 points in 19 games. It's not bad. The disappointing bit was not getting any points while playing Bournemouth, Southampton and Stoke in the last 3 games. Particularly the Southampton game, because if they had gotten a draw, they could have saved themselves on the final day. Fine margins.
Nonsense, Carlos was the only reason we stood a chance & we would've stayed up if Jordan Ayew wasn't sent off at Huddersfield.
Tammy Abraham is trash
Every Monday he did to Swansea what caused him the sack at Sheffield Wednesday he changed attacking football to a very defensive style and they couldn’t succeed with it. Thought he would of learnt from his mistake but clearly didn’t
Jordan Rhodes lol
cos swansea are shite. saved you 7 and a half minutes
Cantona - WANNABE😫
Mike Stoklasa from Red Letter Media is looking healthier.
