He has a point. Barnes' tackle was horrific and how he hasn't received retrospective action is another rightful justification for people to point that rules need to be changed in regards to retrospective punishment. He's also got every right to point out the bandwagon that's been rolling against Costa. There's always a scapegoat for everyone with power in our national game, albeit officials, journalists etc. Suarez went in the summer, so now everyone needs to a new toy to hammer for a while. Although you wish Jose was more consistent with his analysis of challenges when it comes to his own.
***** It was a terrible tackle and could have ended Matic's career, regardless of other bad tackles some sort of action should have been happened, whether that be a red or yellow card.
completely agree with mourinho .. with diego they banned him after when the ref dint see it, they should do the same in this situation and ban baarnes, it doesnt matter what club u support it was 1 of the worst this season.. and matic even though he reacted should nit be banned.. every retired player or pundit agreed when watching they would have reacted because of it... but the fa ruin this league and r bias and wont do anything
if people actually support that tackle because its against Chelsea if people actually think Barnes does not deserve a *BAN* if people think that referee was "fair" *STOP WATCHING FOOTBALL! go watch cricket!*
+Luke Clarkson Oh SHUT UP Ashley Barnes did not go out to injure Matic he trying to pass the ball when Matic came in like a bull in a china shop and Barnes follow through from his pass accidentally made contact with Matic´s shin so before Branding Barnes dirty get your facts right Is that CLEAR? UTC!
SuperWhammer1 does that refute my point? Idk about you but i feel the FA standards are inconsistent at best when it comes to laying a ruling. Did you know Swansea's Routeledge got his red card rescinded for a similar push to Matics after a horrible tackle? Their reaction was the same and most likely different results
Barnes should definitely have faced a ban for the tackle on Matic; Whether he went for the ball or not, it was a bad tackle and Matic is lucky he didn't break his ankle! Of course Matic shouldn't have his red card rescinded because of his reaction on Barnes, yet I know that Barnes would have had a black eye if he did that too me in a match! So I can see why Matic reacted how he did (and I can't blame him), but everyone knows you can't do that: both players deserve bans. And Jose is a great manager, but he defended Costa when he stamped on Can and Skrtel so you can't sympathise for him much: I would only sympathise with him if Matic's career was ended in that tackle.
Agree with every word, the FA simply have to use retrospective punishment or else it indicates that there is a bias based on reputation, if Diego Costa or Lee Cattermole had committed that tackle there would be mass outrage! However, I don't think Barnes went in with intent, it's just a very dangerous late tackle, and I refuse to justify Matic's reaction, but I understand the reason behind it. But there should be some advancement in in-game technology to prevent this happening in the future to other teams, we're all football fans who want a fair contest, not controversial decisions which can ruin games and in some cases even league positions.
Crazy how everyone here is quick to say Barnes's tackle wasn't intentional when a month ago everyone was calling for Diego Costa's head when he "stamped" two Liverpool plays and there was no proof of intent..... While Barnes had numerous reckless challenges on the day and everyone is quick to defend him on a tackle that could have ended someone career. The extreme bias against Chelsea is unbecoming see things for what they are, there is absolutely no way this is equal treatment.
Kevin Wilson Um, he did watch the replay again. Barnes passes it, his shape from passing and his momentum carried him into Matic. It didn't look nice, but it was a accident.
He's right.Refs love to send people off for raising their hands but noone had their career ruined by a push.We need to get a grip and focus on the dangerous tackles/play rather than the reactions to such play.
he is very smart with his opinion. he makes everyone trust what he said because what he said is logical. He makes everything so simple, he is very smart.
For once I actually agree with him that challenge was disgusting and even matics reaction was wrong but you can understand why he did it his career could've been over after that tackle
I'm a United fan but that was a disgraceful tackle, no matter who you support or who you hate. Yes, Chelsea players have tackled like that before, but this is a separate incident and needs to be looked at. Utter thug tackle by Barnes.
Mourinho knows when to push buttons...he knows there is no campaign against chelsea but with theese declarations he puts pressure on the refferes and he does it really well
It wasn't even a fucking TACKLE. He was simply FOLLOWING THROUGH his pass that he intended to make and Matic tried to block it. It was an inevitable collision.
tbh it wasn't intentional, his leg kinda followed through after he made the pass then Matic intercepted 0.1 seconds after. While Costa was actually caught stamping quite a few times.
Ryan Veyr no I don't know what you mean. Matic just happened to be there at the wrong time. Yes it was bad and ref should've gave him a red DURING the match but not 3 match ban after.
Ryan Veyr what I meant was if ref thought it wasn't that bad during the time then a yellow at worst. Red would of been harsh as it wasn't intentional. and who cares.
purecotton Was intentional. Ref's (hopefully) incompetent so did not take any action. Now, as Mourinho said, punishment should be based on footage and analysis of it. Should result in a big match ban.
The FA need to sort this out, football has changed massively over the last decade and they haven't introduced the technology needed into the game yet. It's bloody 2015!!!! I think it's disgraceful they only introduced goal line technology recently when it was needed years ago. I understand it is difficult to integrate it into football, but other sports have done it successfully and are now, technologically, miles ahead of football, and don't even have half the fan base this sport has. It's time for a massive change hopefully the new FIFA president will do something about it.
It was a horrible challenge, no doubt about it but he doesn't deserve anymore than a three game ban as there was no intention in the challenge, Matic got to the ball first and Barnes followed in and caught him high up. 100% red card but no more than three games.
As a Chelsea fan I don't think Barnes did it intentionally however I think he should have been punished for this..matic as well he go shove the player and yeah..both of em deserved to see red..
He literally talks so much rubbish. He's the type of manager to watch his player do a dirty tackle right in front of him and still say that the other player created the foul (like the Tottenham game). This guy is a massive hypocrite. And I'm pretty sure 90% of Costa's tackles are criminal considering the fact he holds players by the throat (Zabaleta) and try to break their ankles. But yeah, matic deserves at most 1 match ban, that tackle I have to admit was fucked up.
Jose seemed an extremely troubled soul during the last few months of his second spell at Chelsea. He was pale and grey, unshaved a lot of the time, and always seemed irritated whenever asked standard routine questions at press interviews.
i just noticed one thing that 99.9% of Arsenal fans have a crush on jose Mourinho and chelsea !! i mean look how many comments from them on this vid. XDD
wait so when chelseas players stand on people and what not he defends them to the hills, but when a burnley player or another player on a team does it to a chelsea player noooooooooooooo everyone goes mental
Does he know the difference between a pass and a tackle? Does he think that Ashley Barnes made a criminal pass perhaps? Just last week he was defending one of his players for deliberately stamping on another player. He wants it all ways. Mitac jumped up sprightly enough after such a career ending bone breaking challenge and felt well enough to commit violent behaviour on another player from behind. Chelsea have lost a lot of respect due to their post game antics/
wasn't even a tackle. Ash Barnes was passing the ball. his foot followed through from passing and matic's leg came across and got caught under his studs. Mourinho is a word class manager but at times, if not most of the time this season he has made himself look very ignorant. Saying that this tackle is "criminal" is just beyond pathetic when it was just an unfortunate clash. Diego Costa stamping on 2 Liverpool players on the other hand, is criminal. and he was lucky to get only a 3 match ban. could of easily been more. You can have your own opinion, but you cant have your own facts
As soon as he lifted his standing leg, it was a serious tackle. Any soccer player (don't even have to be professional) knows when to pull out of a tackle and how to avoid possibly dangerous contact and Barnes did not do that. His standing leg was the only thing keeping him from plowing through Matic's leg and instead of pivoting away he lifts it which gives him more momentum. I am positive that is an intentional act. Just put yourself in the situation, if you play soccer then you know that it is absolutely possible to make split second decisions to pull out of a tackle you can end up badly. Lifting that leg is a clear sign that he intended to make the tackle (notice I'm not saying that he intended to break Matic's leg, but he intended to follow through on the tackle).
And, watch how he just gets right up and walks away super quick. He knows there was hard contact but he doesn't even look to see if Matic is ok. Just gets up and walks away as fast as he can cuz he was expecting a card to come...
your ignorance of the situation is beyond pathetic. his foot clearly follows through from passing the ball. don't you lift your leg when you pass a ball? doesn't your leg follow through when you pass a ball? doesn't every player have their own technique of passing a ball? they way all you idiots are going on, players are not allowed to move, because if they move their studs are off the ground. he gets up and walks away because he did nothing wrong and he was getting back to his position. to add to what you say, don't come at me with a debate and use the word "soccer". It instantly makes your point invalid. jog on kid.
I cannot understand the peopls who can defend that kind of football, barnes should get at least a 10 match ban and a fine not the man of the match award
Again Burnley's Ben Mee has an ACL rupturing tackle on Wesley and a year ago a leg breaking tackle on Joe Gomez. Wimbledon/Stoke of the new premier league era.
Mourinho is losing it. And now he is making himself look stupid and whiney. A shame when he talks about his English not being so good, when we all know that he has a spectualr command of English and how to manipulate the press. The pressure is getting to him.
Matic rushed in from Barnes' blindside to nick the ball away and you can SEE on the video that Barnes has absolutely no idea he was there at all. It wasn't a "tackle" or a "challenge", it was a pass that Matic intercepted but got caught by Barnes' follow through. That's really it.
How many bans this player gets? u ask me? i say 0! NADA. sorry my portugeze is not good. maybe urs is better. i dont know another word for 0. clean conscience

Love him or hate him he's got a bloody good point!
At least your not bias ffs
CFC_Hassan :/ Unfortunately, I am. I'm a chelsea fan.
still :D
***** I'm not going to give you my time of day after that pathetic excuse of a response. Literally no idea what you're talking about.
***** It was a terrible tackle and could have ended Matic's career, regardless of other bad tackles some sort of action should have been happened, whether that be a red or yellow card.

Well said Jose 👏👏👏
10 match ban definitely. Barnes is dirt.

The reason his friends said 6 matches was because they didn't want to get on the wrong side of him...
And here's another part of the interview with Jose talking about refereeing decisions: th-cam.com/video/V2qNRVZjGb4/w-d-xo.html
Where can you find the whole segment?
***** yeah i watched it this morning... but never expected Mourinho to go all out as he did today, forgot to press record. Brilliant stuff.
Are the FA even investigating the challenge
no
No, but they would've "rushed" the incidence to the top of the queue had a foreigner committed such an atrocious act.
BluHart Actually, Ashley Barnes has played for Austria U-21's, never played for England at any level. He's a foreigner in footballing eyes

He got away with no barnes?

I can think of two occasions THIS SEASON where Gary Cahill has performed an almost identical tackle, against Hull and against Arsenal
Why do people keep referring to it as Barnes tackle? He passed the ball and caught Matic on the way through.
What about that tackle on Alexis by Gary Cahill?
Wasn't a leg breaker.
OK, mate. Ashley Barnes got the ball before he even caught Matic. Gary Cahill targeted Alexis' leg.
what!? he didn't touch the ball you moron
Jack Roycroft You missed another fuck
Kevin Wilson Um, he did watch the replay again. Barnes passes it, his shape from passing and his momentum carried him into Matic. It didn't look nice, but it was a accident.

Totally agree with him. From now on, all disciplinary actions should be based on what our friends tell us.

What came of the ivanonvic 'bite'???
I'm a United fan but that was a disgraceful tackle, no matter who you support or who you hate. Yes, Chelsea players have tackled like that before, but this is a separate incident and needs to be looked at. Utter thug tackle by Barnes.
Fully agree with him

this is gold!! mou is f**king skysports.. oh god!! gold..
What about Ashley Young vs the wind
Mourinho is a Don.
What a lad
It wasn't even a fucking TACKLE. He was simply FOLLOWING THROUGH his pass that he intended to make and Matic tried to block it. It was an inevitable collision.
He has gotta POINT!
tbh it wasn't intentional, his leg kinda followed through after he made the pass then Matic intercepted 0.1 seconds after. While Costa was actually caught stamping quite a few times.

Absolutely Disgusting tackle
I honestly have no clue how people are trying to defend Barnes.
He has to get a big ban for this!!
he is right .. and that player deserved at least 3-4 mmatches ban
it was a pass simple as that

Jose seemed an extremely troubled soul during the last few months of his second spell at Chelsea. He was pale and grey, unshaved a lot of the time, and always seemed irritated whenever asked standard routine questions at press interviews.
Whine, whine. this was not cynical, watch it in slow motion. Look at your own players first. Rich and powerful gunning for the small team guys.
Anyone who thinks that Barnes was aiming for the leg has never played football in their life. Watch it again.
Robin Van Persie against Man Utd?
i just noticed one thing that 99.9% of Arsenal fans have a crush on jose Mourinho and chelsea !! i mean look how many comments from them on this vid. XDD
when costa makes an accidental stamp everyone instantly says he should be banned for 3 games. instantly. but then this tackles happens and nothing.
#truth
Did the leg break no , Jose should try watching Sunday league.
wait so when chelseas players stand on people and what not he defends them to the hills, but when a burnley player or another player on a team does it to a chelsea player noooooooooooooo everyone goes mental
This is not about Mourinho, this is about Ashley Barnes. I'd ban him for a year, at least.
What end of career is he speaking about?

Lol he's such a drama queen! it's a contact sport and injuries are just a part of the sport!
It's not a contact sport when people's legs are getting broken in it?
LOL I know I'm 2 Seasons Late But It Was Just A Pass That Matic intercepted and Barnes' Leg Ended Up Colliding Into Matic.

If chelsea beat thfc in the final they will win the league.if they lose their season will fell apart. That only my believe
