Carlos Carvalhal's fourth league game in charge of a struggling Swansea City side saw them take on a Liverpool team unbeaten in their previous 18 games (in all competitions) and featuring Virgil van Dijk at the heart of their defence for the first time in the Premier League.
It turned into a frustrating night for Jurgen Klopp's team as they went behind to a goal from Swansea defender Alfie Mawson late on in the first half. The Swans held on to their 1-0 lead for the remainder of the 90 minutes, preventing Liverpool from scoring for the first time in their last six league games - a combination of poor finishing from Liverpool, fine saves from goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianksi, and the home side's commitment to Carvalhal's effective game plan securing Swansea a valuable three points.
Here, Carvalhal talks exclusively to The Coaches' Voice about how Swansea's 5-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool at Anfield just 27 days earlier was instructive in forming the tactics he employed on a night that kept the Swans' faint hopes of Premier League survival alive.

So many kids in the comments thinking they know what football is when they drop the "park the bus" joke. Watch the guy's analysis, it's much more complex than the common ignorant understanding of it. Plus, if it was so easy and systematic, why was it that only two or 3 teams out of 20 succeeded in beating the likes of Liverpool and City?
youssef elsorady obviously it's clear that his tactics were more complex than people may see on face value but to argue it was some type of tactical masterclass when I 72% of the ball was possessed by Liverpool who went onto to have 21 shots on goal to Swanseas 3 you can't credit a manager with an oppositions ineptitude I'm sorry every Liverpool player out performed there supposed Swansea counterpart in terms of match rating it was a fluke victory on Swanseas part

There were no special tactics that won the game, Liverpool were all over him but it was just not their day, hitting the post and missing chances they’d usually score.

I saw this game. The tactic was basically get a lucky goal from a corner and park the bus.
