    Hi Josh Barnett, if u block/seal off the oem lower air box hole where u removed the section regard compressing sonic sound 2:45 with rubber or gaffer tape, make sure its completely closed - All the cold air from external will push directly into your cai filter which gives your engine more hp+mpg+throttle about 5% increase u will notice the different straight away. Looking forward to your feedback.

      Yeah, I just installed this part today and you don't reinstall the resonator chamber when attaching the AEM intake to the inlet snorkel. I sealed it up with some black duct tape.
      Leaving it attached by just those 2 plastic insert tabs is not safe or part of the installation instructions.

      @@SlowCarsFastSFV Just curious, when you say it's not safe can you specify why?

    • @SlowCarsFastSFV
      @SlowCarsFastSFV 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Brian Keith It will not stay attached and become loose in your engine bay. There are two push clips that mount it in place on the stock intake that are not utilized by the AEM intake.

      Does it make a difference in the sound when keeping that bottom chamber out?

    Did this to my 6. Had to cut tha maf but also the crank case vent tube that goes into the intake refused to secure properly. I ended up having to fabricate my own thing out of rubber tubing to keep it in securely. That was about a 2 and a half hour ordeal. Either way great video helped me make sure I was doing everything correct. My exhaust is still to loud tho and even after doing this I can’t hear intake noise lol.

    • @EconomyElk
      @EconomyElk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zero power increase just a little bit more intake noise and a small throttle response improvement. That is all these do. I’ve installed different types of cold air intakes on different cars I’ve owned and they just improve throttle response slightly. No power increase. In fact if I dynoed my car I’m sure it probably lost a horsepower or two.
      Never owned a turbo car so idk about that.

    This is much more quiet than they typically are. Remove the bottom air box and it will sound much louder.

    Hey Josh. If you like a little more "get up and go" on take off may I suggest the idrive throttle device. I put on in my car and made my own cool air intake and man did it make a difference.

    more like a warm air intake intake filter needs to stick outside engine bay behind your front bumper so youre getting cold air and not hot air

    • @joshbarnett7153
      @joshbarnett7153  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The temp outside right now is 3 degrees, I'm pretty sure that's cold air.

      Josh Barnett you are a fucking idiot, first off it’s not 3 degrees all year round, 2nd, it’s still hot in the engine bay.

    • @Jake42315
      @Jake42315 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      This is a short ram intake, it is better than the OEM as it uses the OEM intake to the engine bay right to the filter, which is also larger than the stock air filter which brings in more air and doesn't have the carbon secondary filter which is built into the stock airbox (most people don't even know about this). If you're driving at highway speeds you won't worry about heat soak like Brandon suggests, so this is an upgrade. If you want a cold air intake, the only one on the Market is made by Injen, putting the filter outside of the engine bay.

    Hi Josh. How is your car running, do you feel the HP gain or see the slightly better fuel efficiency? I installed the same thing onto my 2017 Mazda6. Does your breather hose fit in properly? Mine is a little loose, not enough to fall out but enough to get me worried.
    Thanks for this very detailed video! I used this as a guide while installing mine!

      My car runs good, very lightly power gain, didn't really notice a change in mpg, the sound the intake makes is pretty noticeable and I like it. Yeah the hose is a little loose but haven't had any issues. Thanks for watching!

      These intakes suck more dirt into the engine. Less gas milage, maybe less hp too, fouled plugs, etc. Dont do it. Mazda does NOT dwtune thier cars and maybe fudge down,hp for better insurance rates. Just enjoy your car as it is and mod something else.

    • @victor070

      Worse fuel economy, loss of power, cylinder scoring due to bad filtering. Stick with oem unless you install a turbo.

      @@joshbarnett7153 Yeah I was just wondering because newer cars nowedays don't really need aftermarket intakes because they are designed to run at peak performance from the factory. Majority of the time it's just a ploy to sell you a product. I think some people said their MPGs actually went down a little because of this intake setup.

    • @joshbarnett7153

    • @xdejablu3x
      @xdejablu3x 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@joshbarnett7153 That's another thing to is that lost aftermarket exhausts have bigger piping diameters. You'll end up losing back pressure which is needed for that low range power to get the car going without extra effort. You'll end up pushing the power band towards the top so you'll end up gassing the car more to get up to speed. I've seen this with so many exhaust systems with 4 cyl. For V6s and V8s, sometimes the bigger exhausts can help but they too can suffer from low end torque loss.
