Consult manual to replace license plate bulbs. You don’t have to take the under panel off. Just pop off the bulb housing. Your vid turned my 2 min job into a 15 minute job.
It is impossible to take off the licence plate bulb covers. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
Farhan Chowdhury after some head scratching the lens covers just pop off. Just insert a flat head screwdriver into one of the cups on either end of the lens. Gently pry sideways to remove.
If you also want to change your reverse lights, it makes sense to also replace the license plate bulbs. In that way it is much easier, but more time-consuming. With my 2006 Mazda 6 Sport wagon it is nearly impossible to change the bulbs without removing the under panel. And this means much more than 7 pins.

Thank you a lot for that video. I still did it with my 2006 Mazda 6 GY and also will do with my next car. But I never replace the mirror lights in the sun visor since for me it's too bright.

I got started on putting on the LED bulbs on our 6 and what a difference 👍🏼 I’m just needing the doors and glove box then the trunk and license plate sure worth the $7.99 I paid for the bulbs.

Beautiful, and I will soon order the white LEDs and replace the lighting in my full spec soul red M6 2017 2.5 wagon. In germany, they want 127 USD for the LEDs + wori, ridiculous.
You should have explained that you need to pull the visor shade just to uncover the light -> the light does not start to shine, this is intended for bulb replacement. This is not explicitely said, only comes out later from context...

I just ordered my kit and cannot wait to install it lol, this video is extremely useful, great job man! Just one question... What's the bulb we are suppose to use for the glove compartment? I've got a 13 bulbs kit and I think they are 2 front + 2 rear interior, 2 for mirrors, 2 for doors, 2 for reverse light, 2 for liscence plate and 1 for trunk, then which one is the one for glove compartment? Thanks!

Very informative video. I appreciate your help. One thing I noticed that could've saved you less trouble was the license plate lights. I already switched them out with LEDs before watching your video. All I had to do was pop the trunk to where the lights were facing me and used a screw driver to pry open one side of each light cover before pulling the old lights out. It was pretty simple, but your method works as well. Have you switched out your headlights with LEDs? I can't find any DIY videos regarding changing the bulbs on a 3rd gen Mazda 6. I have my suspicion though (it's difficult changing them out).
J. Morris thanks for checking out my video. Yeah I plan on ordering up new headlights and fog lights soon and installing LEDs in the next couple months. I live in Minnesota so gonna wait until the weather gets better. I have so other mods I did to my car, just need to edit the videos.

Very nice video. Did you notice any buzz coming out of the dome lights after closing or opening the doors? I just replaced mine with some LED lights from Amazon and they are buzzing for a couple of seconds when they dim off.

I purchased a brand new Mazda 6 just two weeks ago. It has full LED’s outside, but to my disappointment the interior had regular orange bulbs.
Cheers for this video, it clarifies the simplicity of actually changing those horrible bulbs into LED’s!
Does mounting the LED’s require any additional modifications to the vehicle? Or Can I just purchase and mount them?
Another question: which LED’s should I look for? They all have numbers and stuff.

No modifications for these LED bulbs just change them out from the old ones. The kit I bought has most of the bulbs needed to change out the interior and some.

Josh did your 6 come a spoiler on the trunk why I’m asking is I ordered one and it came in and the install is saying to drill holes on the truck to bolt it on the car and also use 3M tape.

How did you manage to change the new bulb in the glovebox? Any tricks there.. I was able to get it off in my 2018 but unable to get the replacement bulb installed.. thanks!
You should be able to remove the glove box to get to the bulb easier

Chris M I ordered the 13 piece LED kit from checkitauto.com, I believe the visor bulb is 28mm vanity LED and the trunk bulb is T10 Wedge 5-SMD LED.
All bulbs same size?
was it the same u used for mirror light as.. map light?
laubravo1 no I don't believe so. I bought the kit on checkitauto.com and the visor/mirror light is different from the map/dome light

The slow dim feature probably doesnt work anymore with LEDs in there.

Josh our 2017.5 is just a Touring we have had it over a month and when we slow down at 20 mph it seems to be braking on its own and when it hits 14 mph it’s ok again no braking does your do the same thing??
The Transmission is brand new it was replaced at around 6k miles now it has 7k miles I’m confused but I want to know if others are like mine or is it normal?

Yes, mine does that same when braking. I believe it has an assisted braking feature called smart city brake support that works between 2-18 mph. This can be turned on or off with one of the buttons on the dash left of the steering wheel.

Josh Barnett our 6 is just the Touring model so it doesn’t have that feature from what I have read just the Grand Touring models come with it but I might be wrong.

Josh our Touring doesn’t have this either I’m going to take it to the dealership and see what they say I’m going to drive another 6 as well to see if it does it meaning the braking.
I just want to make sure it’s ok in doing what it should or not do. 🤔

Josh our 6 was hit from behind and the wife was pushed into the Jeep in front of her the damage is over $6600. 00 the back bumper faired great the front end had most of the damage the Jeep had a trailer hitch. ☹️

I’m going to get diminished value as well because if I trade it in I would be in the hole.

Trunk light bulb on 2018 Mazda3 is T5. Not T10 bulb.
