  • This morning when i started my car I saw that these three icon were illuminated in orange.
After a quick check online i could see that many Toyota matrix and Pontiac vibe owners have experienced this behaviour. The most common reasons seems to be related to the Gas cap and wheel sensors. My situation was the gas cap.
In some circumstances the car may still have the three orange indicators on. it may require some time or a code reader to confirm and clear.
full disclosure: I am not a mechanic and rely on the advice and guidance of my mechanic. Although this method worked for me I always recommend to connect with a trusted mechanic.

I’m a jet engine mechanic. Had this same problem. I do most of my own maintenance and was able to solve this problem with the help of my code reader. After replacing all 4 struts I took the Vibe to my mechanic for a wheel alignment and told him about the VSC lights coming on at the same time as the evap codes I was getting. He told me that Toyota’s VSC lights will come on when the car is experiencing just about any other problem. Even though I knew better I was still topping the fuel tank off after the pump automatically shut off. Luckily either my charcoal canister dried itself out or the new gas cap did the trick. I no longer top off my tank…lesson learned!

If anyone frequently drives through mud or snow, here is how to disable traction and stability control on the Vibe. To disable only traction control, look for the button on the lower instrument panel, with the car and wavy lines. Press and release to turn off traction control. Hold for 5 seconds to turn off traction AND stability control. Both the traction light and VSC light should illuminate. Systems will reactivate when the car is turned off and restarted.

My vibe does the same thing but mines isn't because of the gas cap

It can also be wheel sensor, MAF sensor, or either up or downstream 02 sensors as well. Maybe more. A code reader can be helpful in diagnosing this.

I had this problem too my reason for it happening was a crappy sensor in the brake system

After changing the gas cap, my mechanic told me to safely ignore a warning that was build in to satisfy the EPA and no one else.
