Rich, I don't know if I've ever seen a better salesman than you. Upselling a plane based on ancient avionics. The only thing that I can think of that you missed is that you didn't call them valuable antiques. LMAO. Love your videos - keep 'em coming & stay safe. 😂

    • @FlyingwithRich

Haha - still live the old avionics and panels! A real pleasure to fly the piston twins!

I was flying in Civil Air Patrol in the late 90's when we got a GPS unit just like that one in one of the corporate 182's. I remember thinking "man, how much better can technology get?" It replaced an old Loran unit and it felt like going from a Model T to a Ferrari.

The Ram engine conversion makes a difference because I know a owner of a Cessna 340 that had it done and he said it made a lot more power to climb to higher Altitudes

Man, when I started flying, the KLN-94 was state of the art. I remember the Millennium edition Cessnas all had that and the KMD-550 MFD. Coming from a 1978 172 into an ME was like getting into an Airbus A320! Hard to believe Garmin changed the whole avionics game in the last 20 years!

@@h2oski1200 435 seems pretty reasonable for a twin with the ram conv. Interior and panel can be upgraded for less than what a new g58 is and the 414 can do everything better. Basic iran on the engines should be fine after boro.

Yea I had a little bit of a learning curve, learned on steam gauges, instrument rating on glass and never went back. BFR time I decide to get retract experience in a old Mooney, flying VFR was fine, under the hood…… not so good…..but a good lesson that you need to be proficient in the equipment your flying……

These are the best videos ever for flight sim users. I fly X-plane 12 and try to duplicate real world flying. The power settings are especially useful in doing that. Thanks for the time and effort put into the videos. The videographer is great at showing the instruments like airspeed , manifold pressure, mixture and rpm. A great help. The auto pilot works just like that in X-plane.12 in the Beach Baron.

You ever go to that restaurant on the north side of the runway, had a french farm house look with a WWI aviation theme? Is it still there? Always loved going there and seeing those scale biplanes. Haven't been there in 20 years or more. Been in Vegas for the last 12.

There is something always to be said about not having a single point of failure. New glass panels are excellent when they work, when they fail you wish you had your steam gauges back. That being said, I've always been comfortable with a perfect mix of both in GA. Fly the plane. Really nice aircraft.
