Many houses that were built in the 80s and 90s had water damage beyond repair because of blue pvc plumbing that was faulty. It was very common. It caused black mold.

Yes. All of those cupboards, countertops, doors, windows, trim, all the shelving needs saved to. there is some excellent hardwood floors that could be taken up. I bet that furnace is in excellent shape also.
Oh yes chances are that this home is actually built like crap. The fire department in New York City conducted a survey and they found modern homes go up in Flames three times faster than those homes built 6 decades ago. Cheap material. The exterior brickwork looks like s*** and then they have this obnoxious white gutter. A luxurious looking ticky-tack that was never meant to withstand the ravages of time. Nope build them cheap so you can knock them down and force people to build more.
This is another type of architecture that I do like, it has such a grand and formal look, but very warm and welcoming home feeling also. The amount of space is incredible, and looks like the rooms were definitely designed for entertaining. It is a shame this old beauty has to go 😐
Hi Ethan, the outside of this home is gorgeous!! I love everything about it. It is very grand, love the fireplaces, stairs, patio/pool area and the size of the rooms. I think this is one of my favorite explores you have shared!!! Thank you!
What a shame, people are starving and homeless and a gorgeous house is left to rot because someone has so much money they don't care about something of value because they don't have to care....is it a case of easy come easy go..... never has been for most of the rest of us
Some people with a bit of money place a down payment and can’t pay the mortgage. My husband reminds me that people in large houses can be in huge debt. They can’t afford the upkeep, either. Those huge mansions from the gilded age are mostly gone or owned by the state now because the people got rich quickly and children/grandchildren couldn’t maintain the house-or didn’t want to.
How do you know what they did or think. I see people that are NOT rich build or buy huge houses. 2 yrs later they have to leave because they can't keep paying the note and upkeep. This was not Trumps house. But whoever it was had their reason. Rich people don't leave homes empty to fall down they SELL THEM

Real nice one here Ethan. Biggest Master closet I've ever seen. Holy. Shame it's being destroyed. Wasteful. You stay safe too Ethan. Enjoyed thw tour. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I was thinking about who had the biggest, baddest closet yesterday, and I came up with two. Whitney Houston and a closet that was on two floors with an elevator and Kenny Roger's. His master closet was 2000 Sq feet, had five rooms inside of it and contained a full size bathroom, in the closet. 😮😂
Not everyone CHOOSES to abandon such homes. Some people just die & have no survivors who can carry the upkeep. More often, though millionaires lose their fortune and get evicted.
I wonder if all the doors and windows will be salvaged. They look good still and if they were donated to someone that is building homes for the homeless they would could surely use the windows for the homes. It is a very nice home and to me, kind of sad to see it be torn down.
Because of the way the house is laid out I think it was built earlier than the 80's. The 3 rd floor has built in's and the door knobs look vintage. And the stairs going up to the 3rd floor are narrow as if they were used by servants. The pine flooring, it looks like it was servants quarters at one time.
I am so happy and thankful that so much of the home has been salvaged. I wish the local councils would require developers to salvage a certain percentage of the homes being demolished so a newer home can be built in its place. The age and condition of the home would determine the percentage to be salvaged. It would help the landfill and someone might be able to buy a few high end fixtures for their home at an affordable price. Just sayin’.

I think it's weird to have such a small garage for this suze house. Plus, there is only 1 sink in the master bath. There is plenty of room for a second one. Thank you for sharing Ethan.
In the basement, I can’t help but wonder if there wasn’t a safe down there. Two motion sensors to keep an eye on the area. An unnecessarily heavy closet door. And a cut off bannister as if the staircase wasn’t wide enough for something they were taking out before the demolition. Just a thought. 🤷♀️

What a terrible shame to see this beautiful home demolished. I understand it needs repair but the bones of the home and the windows are magnificent. Many of us would wish we were fortunate to own such a home. I’m sure the owner has many fine memories.
It's a shame to demolish lovely homes built with such care, high quality materials and workmanship. This home might have been gutted and rebuilt interiors to get that exquisite exterior Georgian architecture. Suspect the problem may have been plumbing issue as some new inventions in the 80s turned out to have serious long-term problems. Gutting the house and redoing all the plumbing, if that was the problem, would have cost more than the house was worth by that time. Appears to be plumbing issue throughout house, not roof.

The stair case to the 3rd floor at @25:50 looks like they are for servant's, and possibly the servant quarters are up there as well. I looked to buy an old house many years ago, built in the early 1900's, and it had an extra staircase off the kitchen, in the back of the house. It lead to the main hallway where all the bedrooms were. The house also had servant bells, & lights (where you'd pull a string) in the formal dining room that still worked. The owner told me the servants would only use the back stairs, to stay out of sight.
