That Samsung TV at the pool on the wall had the old logo font on it and a quick search tells me that the current font came in from 1993 onwards, so this place could be early to mid 90's potentially.
It's just too big besides the expenses of a basketball court, pools, gardens the personnel needed to maintain it in order would lead to bankrupt anyone.
It was even kind of hard to find new CRTs in the late 2000's! Some odd store had maybe one model or two in some lonesome corner, but most had absolutely none...
could have been early 2000's, might not have even been abandoned until the late 2000's. Nobody was buying CRTs then, but it wasn't uncommon for people to still have them.
Awesome tour. Yes, it's nice to see one in great shape. Living in S. CA, studios clean and repair before and after using property. Owners get use leases. The parts leased have maintence standards. floors buckling can be caused by a greenhouse effect. when a house is closed up with no heat or air for long periods of time it can cause a green house effect. cool temps at night and warm temps in the day cause high humidity which can cause floors to expand and eventually buckle
It’s always weird to see mansions like this with furnishings like those TV’s left inside. Frozen in time. That is until someone buys them or neglect, vandals and nature pretty much overtake them. Imagine what that basketball court will look like in another couple of years with nobody stepping in to make repairs.
All of these abandoned homes, I'm just thinking of how many Homeless Veterans could move into them, after being fixed up of course. Homeless Veterans would Appreciate and Respect a house like this. Beautiful home.
Mine to when I remodel I'm going to take a electric leaf blower to the place I have a dog and a cat that sheds like crazy I still sweep and everything but the leaf blower will still work wonders with all the windows open! Lmao!
Usually it's because their houses are so big that they don't even use a lot of the rooms so when furnishing them they prioritize looks over comfort because they're rarely ever going to use it anyways. Everyone thinks they want a huge house but in reality unless you have a huge family or throw parties all the time after a few months when the initial excitement wears off you start spending less and less time in those "bonus" rooms. Like wine cellars, of course I'd like to have one in my house but I know I'd rarely use it. It's basically just a cool looking closet for wine that costs as much as a used car. Although we don't like to admit it, people often buy things simply because they look cool, and in turn will make them look cool for owning it.
The basketball court was inside the house it was huge The cinema and bowling awesome and the slide is awesome little pool bar This is my definition of a barbie dream home
I always wonder why people with wealth that build these huge homes don’t put comfortable chairs in their home theaters rather than the standard uncomfortable movie theater chairs.. I’d rather chaise lounges, big lazy boys... etc..
Nah then it just feels like sitting at home you want the Cinema Experience - uncomfortable seats , sticky carpet, popcorn all over the place but at least you can have a Cig in your own cinema lol
It was the cool thing to do back in the day. They didn’t actually use those theaters. It was just to say “I’m rich” just like the old super white carpets with white tables that we don’t use thing
When I built my house people stole tile and doors and other projects I have been on, people would steal copper wire out of the walls. There has to be some security measures in this place; otherwise that slide would be in someone’s back yard. 🤣
I wish you would’ve looked around the theater room more and checked out the batting cage and pitching machine, outdoor putting green and two locker rooms.
I remember when having enough meant meeting all ones needs and not being in debt. I never understood extravagance or why it’s something to work towards.
👋🏻 The original owners sold it when their kids got older. It's for sale. 2.3 Million is the asking price. The original owners have been trying to sell it since 2014. No one is buying it though because they won't lower the price below the millions. There are no listings for it anymore because of the condition its in. The owners gave up and walked.
It's not for sale. It was sold in December 2020 for $2.1 million
@@NobodysAngel81 Makes sense. The article I read that said it was for sale was from October 2020. I couldn't find any sold listing. That said, I didn't know the address. I just typed in "Abandoned mansion, Andover MA" in a google search. Now that I know the address, I see on Zillow that it was sold on Christmas Eve, 2020.
The original owners were trying to sell it for a long time. There's probably going to be a lot of fixing up needed. Hopefully it can be a beautiful home again.
@@sunlightangel87 The customer I picked up there was actually one of the people in charge of fixing up the place and that was in November/December 2018 or maybe Spring 2019. I think she was a real estate agent, but she was also fixing it up. I think she was a house flipper. When I picked her up there, it was a mess. Weeds were all over the driveway/garage etc. It needed a lot of work and the crew probably worked around the clock to make it sale worthy. I didn't really get a good look inside because there were security cameras. There is a security guard house at the beginning of the driveway. It's in such a weird spot. You go up this hill, and it's on the right. You can't see the house from the street because it's surrounded by so many trees. Andover is a rich town. Lots of mansions of all sizes.

This is a nouveau rich person. Old money doesn’t live in homes like this. It’s a guy wanting to live out a fantasy, and he either didn’t do his research or he ignored it. I would bet it’s a lottery winner.
This house was also in a movie with Kate Hudson and Larry David. Called 'Clear History'.

@@sarahmassie5555 there is more information and nice pictures of this home may be found at Zillow. Off market. $2.8 million. Etc. Now I think he sold at a later year, sorry anyway a nice outdated home.

It was for sale during this.
All that money and zero taste. Knew from the outside it was just a bunch square plans sewn together at different angles. No character at all to that place. It’s like if a teenager won the lottery.
From the beginning, the house looked like it was made of pressboard, no substance to it, like taking the details of a grand mansion and imitating them on a mobile home.
Agreed 100%
Seriously!
Exactly my thoughts. When money and good taste are put together, you end up with something incredible. This, on the other hand, was embarrassing.

late 90s early 2000s
@@bleuessence5281 I´d say early to mid 90´s.Maybe even ´89.
That Samsung TV at the pool on the wall had the old logo font on it and a quick search tells me that the current font came in from 1993 onwards, so this place could be early to mid 90's potentially.
It was built in 1999.

The woodwork is absolutely stunning. I really like that house. Not really abandoned though, be careful!!
It's pretty dated and very vanilla. The built in bookcases near the piano are the nicest parts of the house.
It’s always weird to see mansions like this with furnishings like those TV’s left inside. Frozen in time. That is until someone buys them or neglect, vandals and nature pretty much overtake them. why does rich people furniture ALWAYS look so uncomfortable ? lol
BECAUSE THEY NEVER SIT ON IT, it's just for show! They even leave the price tag on the back!
stargirlzx because it is haha
