  • Before putting it away for the winter, I will take you guys along for a ride in my 1968 Chrysler 300. As you probably already know this is a 4-door hardtop Chrysler 300. It has a factory 440, and no modifications other than a glasspack muffler.

My Dad bought a new 1968 Chrysler 300 which he won in Las Vegas one lucky night! Nice car & very fast!

we had a '69 300 4 door...my mom got more speeding tickets that you can imagine...it was the 2nd car I ever stole for a day (at age 14)... I hit 110 mph that day!

This looks like one from my hometown in Waterloo, NY. First car I remember is the 68 300 convertible my Dad owned in the 70's. That car started my love for these Mopars and cars in general

The 68 300 drop top is very sharp, a lot of people seem to be after them.

Nicest four door of 68, right behind the Thunderbird! Of which Dad owned both! The Thunderbird was actually a 69, with a 429 ThunderJet 4 brl dual exhaust engine. The Chrysler was a Town&Country Beach Wagon with the 440/4 brl dual exhaust engine, with a factory towing package, that included the hitch, but most importantly a sweet 3:09 posi trac rear differential!

You should make a road trip video in that Magnificent Chrysler!!! Maybe a trip to Pensacola beach Florida!!?? Bring snacks, friends, Gatorade. Kind of like a Gumball Ralley, ( Movie from 1976.)

I grew up with and have fond memories of our dark green 2 door 1968 Chrysler 300, which was our family car growing up. It was a real beast and in fact we nicknamed it The Tank, due to its propensity to inflict damage on other cars and come out unscathed. The car came equipped with front disk brakes from the factory, a Sure-Grip differential. Serious overkill, they had calipers on both sides of the disk. The hidden headlights were a headache, they used a modified windshield wiper motor to actuate them. Dad had to replace the motor twice, the second time he sealed it up with epoxy, and never had trouble afterwards.
The big ole 440 with the 4 barrel Holley could pass just about anything but a gas station, and even with the 55 mph speed limit in 1974, the best we could get out of it was about 14 mpg on an all day run on the interstate. The car sort of became mine for a while, about the time gas went north of a dollar a gallon, and high enough octane gas was getting hard to find. I loved the look of that car, but in the end we ended up selling it for $300 in 1979, and heard it got wrecked soon after. I missed it but I needed something practical.

Thanks for sharing it’s nice to hear stories from the original hay-day of these cars. I can vouch for everything you say about these old boats, the 440 is a BEAST, even in the 4-door it moves it along nicely. Oddly enough the old Chryslers C-bodied (300s, newports, ect) and Imperials are the KINGS of high-stakes demolition derbies because of their tank like qualities. Glad you enjoy the videos, stay tuned we will be dropping the refreshed 440 back in soon!

Actually it’s not floaty like a coil sprung Cadillac is like, especially with HD shocks. Oh it absorbs bumps an hits like a champ, just more like a big car with torsion bars does.

I'm glad I came across your video's cause I have a 68 300 also. My car came from the state of Oregon and its rust free Its a 2 door hard top. Its red with a black vinyl top. Its in very nice shape for being over 50 years old. I'm the kind of guy that won't put speaker holes in the door panels or the rear deck where there wasn't any to begin with. But I do like the idea of one 6x9 in the back which I did put one back there on the drivers side where the factory opening was. Now this is where you come in. I'm going to replace the 4x10 speaker in the dash and would have prefered the Kenwood speaker but I think the magnet is to large. Next I would choose the Kicker 4x10 cause the depth is shortened up a bit. My last choice would be a retro sound 4x10 that might possibly fit cause the magnet is the smallest out of this group. So my question to you is, have you changed out the 4x10 in the dash without any cutting or other mods? If so what kind of speaker did you use. Was it any of the above mentioned and if not did it have a very big magnet? Also what steps do I have to take to get this dash apart to put a 4x10 speaker in the factory opening? Thanks very much and you have a nice car there. Your friend also has a nice Newport.

Nice car. Good shape. I’ve noticed you published a nice 1972 Imperial with such a nice color combination. I have a 1973 Imperial and I need a power antenna which is hard to find due to unique fender shape. I appreciate any help on where to find it.
