I have two questions I hope you can answer as you seem very knowledgable and it would greatly help me. 1) When I use my G7x iii, I get exposure problems even if I lock the exposure. I use the camera with a ring light for recording youtube videos. I start filming, lock the exposure, and when I look at the footage after it sometimes flickers and changes the exposure from one frame to the next. Super annoying. Do you have a solution for this? I shoot in 1/50 and 25 fps. 2) When I import the footage into final cut pro, the audio is out of sync with the video. Do you have a fix for this? Thank you so much!
Thank you for sharing this. Just purchased this camera yesterday and I noticed the firmware was already updated to 1.3 so I’m guessing I don’t need to worry about updating. Is it safe to say that AF problem was resolved with the update, as well as the heating problem that happens when filming in 4K for close to ten minutes? Have you done an update on your camera? Would love to see one if not, as I am still learning. Again, thank you for sharing this bit of information for the ones who are new to this type of technology. There definitely shouldn't be any major color casts in your video. Maybe try resetting the camera in the menu to factor settings? If that doesn't work I would take it back to where you purchased it as there may be something wrong.

As far as I can tell, it is only one custom mode. However, there is a chance you can switch to other custom options in the menu, I will have to look at the camera next time I am in the shop :)
You offer so much valuable information in a pleasant, concise, and understandable way. I currently have an older LUMIX LX7 and while it has some incredible features, I am looking to “upgrade” to something that has a movable touch screen, also a viewfinder, and maybe changeable lenses, all while retaining a small form factor for ease of carrying. Thank you for watching! If you are referring to the rotation of the image when you hold the camera sideways, yes! It automatically turns the image when it saves it.

You will want to use your Program mode and set your white balance to choose your kelvin temperature. If you want the water to appear more blue, set the number to around 5000K. To get more accurate colors and less blue in blue waters, I recommend around 6000K. Have fun!
Is this a good starter camera for portrait photography? I just hear a lot about it being a vloging camera and wondering if it’s good for photos even tho it’s compact
This video was good, but just for a clarification, the format option does the same thing it lables the files as overwriteable but it overwrites them itself so that no one can see them and so I don't think this has a major effect on the life expectancy of your SD card
So You mentioned vlogging in fish eye mode and I’m just wondering if you are actually able to shoot video in any of those create modes and if so how to go about doing so Thanks for any info
I don’t have the model in my hands at the moment but I reached out to my Canon rep just in case and once you set it to fisheye, you should just have to press your red record button.
You can access the Focus Method/Area through the Quick menu, or if you go to the actual menu, 1st tab (red camera tab)>Page 6>Focus Method> Make sure the AF face symbol option is chosen. This should allow the camera to pick up human faces, but WITHOUT masks.
Oh goodness your right! Speaking with my Canon rep, it was supposed to allow it in a firmware upgrade but was set back. Keep track on any firmware updates so you can take advantage of the feature!
Quick question- I somehow adjusted some setting that prevents me from recording a video for more than 4 seconds (in the movie camera icon function). It just automatically shuts off the recording. Can you help???? Thanks!
Hello Jeff! That’s very odd. First things first, I would reset the camera in the setup menu. Then, if the media already on your card (if any) is backed up to your computer, go into the menu and format the card to ensure it is clear of any data preventing you from taking video. Let me know if anything changes!

There was a lot of backlash when g7x MK iii and g5x MK ii came out (both are very similar) especially the tracking issues, but since the updates It has improved based on yt videos and research, I was wondering how is the camera after a few years of it’s release?
If you are looking for something primarily for vlogging, other manufacturers have come far on creating models like the Panasonic G100, Sony ZV1 or the new Sony EZV10, that really blow these guys out of the water. They may not have the tie with TH-cam that These do, but the quality is undeniable.
so i just got this for my birthday. im 10 years old and i wanna start vloging. so in video mode can you stop the video in mid video then start it somewhere else or a diffrent time (ex: you are doing a all nighter vid. you want to stop it but come back and have the other footage still being on there.) so could you do that? or do you have to start a new video? if you have to start a new video what is a good app to edit it together on a chromebook? thats what i wanna edit on. Hello Jillian! Congratulations on your new camera! So most cameras do not have the ability to continue the video where you left off, so you will have to combine your video clips in a video editing program. I believe the chrome book has its own free program that should be fairly easy to use, TH-cam is good for that too!
If you have already backed up your photos to a computer or cloud/hard drive and you are ready to clear out your card completely, go to your menu and format your card.
Language settings change from Japanese (etc...) to English, how do I do that currently my G7X Mark III is in Japanese or whatever and I am struggling to set it back to English...
Just got this camera; when i press the on/off button, the shutters for the lenses don't open...? So it says "no image." - i messed with the dial and nothing happened... Am I missing something? This came used so no instructions...
@@Shutterbug101 Where can that be found? I ended up using a plastic card and poking at the four corners of the shutters gently and it worked, I think one of the shutter bars was jammed or something.
Glad it worked for you! Sometimes the shutters in the front of the lens can get mucked up with dirt, dust and grime so they can periodically get stuck, but it shouldn't effect the picture taking quality as long as you can get them open.
after taking a photo, and trying to look at my photos using the play button - there are a bunch of data displays as opposed to the photo showing up on the whole screen. how do I fix this? I’m not sure how it started happening

@@THEMOWERMEDIC1 I did find there was difficulty on it adjusting focus moving closer to a subject as well. This camera was really built to vlog with the selfie screen and take decent photographs. There isn't any control options on how fast the focus should be which is a bummer, the best thing you can do is ensure the Movie Servo AF is enabled in the menu>first tab>page 8. Hopefully that helps you!
Hi there. I have this camera I bought it it for live streaming. I have link it with canon gateway and even TH-cam. But I get an error when I try to stream Err127. Do you know how to solve this. If yes pls tell me
The live stream feature is granted to those who have over 30K subscribers (I would like to try it myself but I’m not close to being there yet!), so you will have to use it like a webcam through the canon utility app and USB cord if it is a supported model or use a capture card with an HDMI cord.
Thank you! I've had this camera for about a year, and have bumbled through how to use it. I only use it to try to make a video maybe every other week. However, I really want to learn to use its other functions. Today, we had the most beautiful and huge, fully formed snowflakes falling outside for hours, and I was so excited to use this camera to try to get some close-up detailed photos using the Tulip (macro) mode. It would not let me focus on the snowflakes at all. When it would focus (not very close though), I could not zoom in, and when I tried to take the photo, pressing the photo button down caused it to instantly go blurry. Yes, I had it stabilized so it wasn't moving. I tried several different things, all to no avail. My very old smart phone did a much better job of taking the photos, like MUCH better. So, I know I must need a lot of help in how to use this camera. Is there any way you could do some videos on how to use this camera to optimize certain specific uses like the one I mentioned? I find the Canon site has very little on this camera, which is quite disappointing. It seems like this camera has so much potential... I just need to learn how to use it and what stuff means! Thanks for considering this!
Hello Stacy! So sorry your having issues getting your desired results. This camera does fairly well when it comes to point and shoot video and vlogging, but its special features like macro mode performs poorly. I have found over time Canon and Nikon point and shoot cameras do not excel past the point and shoot description, while Panasonic has really taken it to a new level where their special features and macro modes have been pretty mind blowing. If you have any other questions please let me know!
It is difficult with most point and shoots to achieve the blurred background effect. The best way to achieve this is put it in A mode, make the F stop/aperture the lowest number it can go, and make sure whatever is in the foreground is as far from the background as possible. The father it is, the blurrier it will be.

If you are taking photos professionally, I wouldn’t recommend it. For selfies and friends and family? Sure!

It really depends on what your photographing, but in general the automatic mode works great!

When you are looking at that screen in the playback mode, press your DISP button to change the display until you are happy with it :)

If you go to your menu>wrench tab>page 5, the top option is to customize your function buttons. You should be able to assign your * button there.

3:19 I was trying to charge camer off of a usb c but doesn’t work, and looked it up google saying it’s going to usb b.
I believe there is a chance it is just for transfer and firmware update unfortunately.

Sometimes when the camera is not performing as it should, it is best to reset the settings. Go to the menu>settings and reset. Hoping this helps!

Because vlogging is video based, I would definitely say the video mode in auto exposure until your ready to take on manual exposure :)

Are there issues with the Autofocus on G7x Mark iii?
Not that I noticed outright, but could possibly struggle in low light or lack of detailed areas.
I’m having some pretty good issues with auto focusing anybody else having these issues?

The live stream feature is granted to those who have over 30K subscribers (I would like to try it myself but I’m not close to being there yet!), so you will have to use it like a webcam through the canon utility app and USB cord if it is a supported model or use a capture card with an HDMI cord.
Thank you! I've had this camera for about a year, and have bumbled through how to use it. I only use it to try to make a video maybe every other week. However, I really want to learn to use its other functions. Today, we had the most beautiful and huge, fully formed snowflakes falling outside for hours, and I was so excited to use this camera to try to get some close-up detailed photos using the Tulip (macro) mode. It would not let me focus on the snowflakes at all. When it would focus (not very close though), I could not zoom in, and when I tried to take the photo, pressing the photo button down caused it to instantly go blurry. Yes, I had it stabilized so it wasn't moving. I tried several different things, all to no avail. My very old smart phone did a much better job of taking the photos, like MUCH better. So, I know I must need a lot of help in how to use this camera. Is there any way you could do some videos on how to use this camera to optimize certain specific uses like the one I mentioned? I find the Canon site has very little on this camera, which is quite disappointing. It seems like this camera has so much potential... I just need to learn how to use it and what stuff means! So sorry your having issues getting your desired results. This camera does fairly well when it comes to point and shoot video and vlogging, but its special features like macro mode performs poorly. I have found over time Canon and Nikon point and shoot cameras do not excel past the point and shoot description, while Panasonic has really taken it to a new level where their special features and macro modes have been pretty mind blowing. It depends on the type of photography you would like to do. If you want something a little better than your phone then it is perfect.
How do you blur the background for video recording?
It is difficult with most point and shoots to achieve the blurred background effect. The best way to achieve this is put it in A mode, make the F stop/aperture the lowest number it can go, and make sure whatever is in the foreground is as far from the background as possible. The father it is, the blurrier it will be.

I thought this camera had an underwater shooting mode but can't find it anywhere in scenes.
While it doesn't have an underwater scene mode, you can set custom underwater settings to the C mode!
Why cant i use flash in scn mode?
My usb-c doesnt charge. Is that normal?

In the menu>tab one, page one>the very first option is Image Quality. Set that to L and it will be capturing in just Large Format JPEG.
