- In this episode we take a look at UFO from Fallout 4 that graces our journey after level 20, and then crashes into obscurity. This is the second crack Bethesda has taken at designing a flying saucer, so hopefully they learned a thing or two. Enjoy a skit where I try to sell a Zetan a saucer, some historical craft, and as always a break down of pros and cons. I hope you enjoy!

Howdy y'all. I hope you enjoy this one, not going to lie I was pretty impressed with it when I watched it through after the first render. Also, I happened to watch an episode of Ancient Aliens the other day and realized I butchered the pronunciation of "Die Glocke" so apologies for that! Die glocke (dee glaw-kuh) was from a sci-fi short story in a sci-fi mag in the 20's
The rust could’ve came from the UFO’s years of scouting the Earth’s atmosphere
Hmm, or other similar planets I suppose. Not sure about earth though, since Fallout 3 takes place in 2277 a decade before Fallout 4 in 2287. Would be a long time to be in earths atmosphere. Then again, maybe they were stuck on earth for a time following mothership Zeta and they crash when trying to escape earth. I like that, you could tell an interesting story from that angle. I'm adding that to my ideas list. Thank you!

Perhaps the craft was shot down by the crew of mother ship zeta using another ufo craft from the main ship. There could be a whole war waged in the skys and around the solar system that we don’t know about.
Certainly a possibility, although I didn't see any weaponry on the FO4 Saucer, haven't done a thorough look at the FO3 version though. Either way would make sense they would be armed, also it would make for a good story so I like it.
I have to say, I like how you tackle lore inconsistencies with your own headcannon. It makes the fallout universe more interesting an believable in it's own wacky way. Keep up the good work dude.
okay hear me out, this is just a theory:
some Aliens survived Mothership Zeta and evacuated down to earth, this ship is actually an attempt in building new ships with the Tools they have aviable on Earth.
I'm a fan of this theory, I'd like to do a video about it at some time. Good ol' castaway type of thing.
at least for Fallout 4 this would explain the odd design choices and that the ship from Mothership Zeta should still be around and protect earth from more Zetans.
i think some of those flaws werent around in fallout 3, pluse the Radio that the alien uses is earth tech

Also, in the Mothership Zeta DLC there are teleportation stations scattered around the ship, so we know that they do have the capability to teleport, though I’m not sure if it’s restricted to the stations or if they could use it to enter and exit their crafts.
I’m sure you have you have a lot of great video ideas in the pipeline, but watching your content has made me take a closer look at some of Fallouts vehicles, and it would be super interesting to learn more about the ‘Lone Wanderer’ motorcycle as featured in Fallout 4, though I’m not sure how much information there is.

I couldn't remember it has been so long since I've played Zeta but I thought such things exist, so thanks for confirming! Yeah, I'll have to hit all the civilian transportation vehicles in the future. I do those and the USS constitution and I think I've pretty much got a 100% achievement run on Fallout 4 lol.

I’ve also had been playing around with the idea of all the fallout technology being reversed, engineered, alien tech adding another layer to fallouts story. Maybe if Bethesda or obsidian ever returns to the Mojave wasteland, we could finally find out if this is what happened
I think there are lore threads that point to Fusion Cores and Plasma weaponry having alien tech being involved in their development for sure. I would love to see this storyline explored in depth in the future too.
I can make up some ideas about the spaceship
1. A reason as to why the ship seems so old tech is because of the mothership, using low tech construction to bypass high tech targeting.
2. The rust is caused by the metal oxidizing rapidly to the point that it is on fire.
Hmm, I think I understand what you are getting at with 1, not sure it would work though since the saucer is still using high tech energy generation.
I'm not sure how plausible 2 is, but since we are talking alien tech anything is possible and it explains the perpetual fire so I dig it.
would it be possible that the reason the crafts are made of riveted metal is because it is a ship made within our solar system?
if one of their main ships was taken over in fo3, the remaining aliens may have been forced to construct transport with whatever they had to hand. that they might get to earth, or the mothership again to use a relay to message home for help
I hadn't thought of this theory before reading the comments, but I really like the castaway theory. Would make a really neat story. Could maybe even put in a Wilson reference, that would be neat!
I always imagined it as a rogue alien who stole an old rusty space ship to leave his planet for whatever reason

Fallout Shelter funnily enough has a quest line where you find out RobCo did have a UFO, and on top of that you get a Zeta with a full human disguise as a dweller.
Without a clear front/rear it would've looked pretty funny embedded in that hillside
You know, I didn't mention it in the video, but that actually should have been another con. Having an obvious front and rear and a propulsion method to the rear would be fairly limiting when you are thinking about a flying saucer. Ideally such a craft goes in any direction whenever it wants, not forward like a jet. Kinda just fails to take advantage of the whole saucer thing.
I have an explaination for the ufo's windows not being cracked. During Mothership Zeta the Zetans recover the crashed ufo that was in the wasteland, where during the brief time before the Lone Wanderer kills them they can clearly see it's cockpit's window got smashed when the ufo crashed. They sent a brief report back to another ufo or their homeworld containing their first observations upon seeing the recovered ufo before the Lone Wanderer killed them. Hence why the Zetans made future ufos they reinforced the windows so they wouldn't break this time if the ufo crashed.
So there's an explaination of sorts lol. Or at least that's the head canon I came up with when I first played Fallout 4 and I too questioned why that ufo's windows weren't broken like the Fallout 3's ufo's windows were.
Huh, I suppose that's possible, though I'd expect Zetan vessels to crash more often in general and not just during Mothership Zeta. I also wonder if the windows breaking is really, so much of a concern when the ship crashes, bigger fish to fry and all that. Maybe there are insurance premiums at play here =P. Still its a better explanation than any I've got!

I mean, ZODGE POWER STAR can carry twice as much Brahmin with a class 6 hyper drive and make it a round trop to the LTIR Galaxy with a single fuel rod.

Gravity control could mean the ship can be extremely heavy but it’s properties change when the system is activated making it weigh nothing. No seat belts needed because the g force can be negated with a gravity control device.
I never noticed before seeing the line art just how much that central crew-mohawk section looks like some versions of the Dymaxion car.

That could be I suppose though I'm not sure the timelines line up with Fallout 3 taking place a decade earlier. Though the mothership is a big ship and the lone wanderer doesn't necessarily need to go straight to the DLC, so its possible the aliens hid out on their ship for years and that the events of Mothership Zeta don't take place in 2277. Could be!
My favourite alien invasion film is “No One Will Same You”, it be fun.

Maybe the Zetans have spent so long spying on us theyve grown an affiliation with our aesthetic. The general look is very in line with other vehicles in fallout. That might explain the riveting and panel gaps as just being cosmetic.
Like earth is a Zetan TV show and the saucer is merch for the dedicated fan. I dig it.
The Zetans aren't real aliens. They are a creation of a group of scientists with huge budgets, high tech, and no morals. Much like the Institute or the Big MT.

Actually, space rust does exist but it depends on the material, the orbital altitude of the object in question and whether the planet has an atmosphere or not (including atmospheric composition) as to whether or not things will rust. Deep space however, metal won’t rust.
I would suspect that this saucer took an extremely close near miss from the captured mothership, so close that some of the controls got fried and igniting some exterior paint causing the crash. And some of those damaged systems included some safety devices causing the pilot’s injuries.
Definitely an interesting theory regarding the Eyebots that has some merit
I guess I've always just associated "space" with deep space and anything else as "atmosphere" though I know that's not technically correct. I also suppose its plausible that Zeta or another controlled planet has an incredibly caustic type of atmosphere or what not. So I guess maybe I am crazy about the rust here.
Flammable paint? The Zetan FAA is going to have a field day with that! It does make sense though that the Mothership was somehow involved in the crash. You make a good point though, if video games have taught me anything its that life support systems are located in one spot and prone to failure lol.
Yeah, I think the Eyebot theory, along with the idea that alien tech is involved in Fusion cores and Plasma to be an interesting angle to explore in the future.
@@spydingo i wouldn’t necessarily say that the paint is flammable in general. I think just that the close shave with the mothership along with the heat of re-entry ignited something on the surface. That or the flames are from an electrical fire of some sort

The rivets on the ship dont make sense for one reason alone... Cold wielding, if they built the ship in space, or in a vacuum, all theyd need to do is place the metal sheets onto the shasy and it will fuze together with an air tight seal
Well, the Bell did exist, certainly on papers, and also as some basic concepts. One of my grandfathers worked on that project, but he did claim that they never got of the construction phase before the allies came. So whatever the Bell supposedly did like bounce around or whatever basically just never happened.
Very true, still makes for an excellent story though. I wonder how much profit has been made by authors over the years telling it's story.

Old pre war tec that used ET captured tec and someone somehow had access to it.
You should cover maybe halo, ace combat, and cyberpunk vehicles they all have some pretty wacky and unique designs would be cool seeing you cover a video on one of the games!

I wonder if the fallout 4 saucer was actually made on earth from a zetan who escaped zeta. We see its maiden flight that ends with it overheating and going down. That would explain the rust like texture and rivets. Since rivets would be easier to aquire and probably use for a zetan than trying to find something with the ability to weld.

I just assumed it was some sort of outlaw who was on the run from other zetans. Would explain why it was such a beat up ship (just a junker they stole) and why there was only one zetans onboard (they hotwired it themself) why it crashed (got shot down by other zetans) I dunno, just an idea

The rivets are such an uninspired reuse of assets lmao... i always hoped a dlc would involve the crash more.

I knew there was at least 2, as one gets blown up and the other is commandeered by the lone wanderer. I always assumed there were more in general, but didn't think they were in close proximity to earth. Would be real problematic for humanity if they are. Yikes.
Haha I love it, I wonder if the zetan was hurt not while flying but before getting on the ship? Quick escape after the lone wanderer shot down his mothership?
And maybe the alien ship managed to avoid all the incoming fire that would've vaperized the ship thus it has no damage, but it was hit with a emp or pulse wave weapon that fried all the machinary and electronics onboard?
So the ship then crashes down on the planet, the hull is fine but fire is spewing out of all the machinary on the inside. The alien who has already been wounded before boarding his craft then gets out, crawls to a nearby cave and meets a unfortunate end by the sole survivor.
Just a theory but would make sense
Well, Mothership Zeta takes place about 10 years before fallout 4, so it seems unlikely that the Zetan was a recent escape from the Mothership. It could be possible though, kinda like how there were still Nazi's onboard of that submarine Blaskowitz commandeers in Wolfenstein. I do really like the variation of this theory were the fallout 4 zetan is a castaway on earth and is trying to escape when it crashes.
I like the idea of emp type of damage being caused by a near miss by the mothership deathray, not sure about the flames leaking out of the hull though. Don't get me wrong it makes sense, but the hull isn't cracked or anything. 'Spouse we can assume there are micro cracks that arn't visible to the human eye that are allowing the flames to escape.
As far as the alien crawling out, maybe if teleportation is involved. There is no way for he/she to climb out of the ship the standard way.
With a little polishing though a really good story could be told with this as a basis!
@@spydingo yeah there's still holes in it for it to make sense. It could be that the alien was not on the original mothership, he could've been on a new alien ship that arrived to continue studying the earth or to reinforce the alien presence there only to be surprised attacked by the mothership we took over. That would explain why the ship they have looks nothing like the others, it almost looks more advanced or new. This means the commandeered ship is constantly protecting earth fighting waves of new aliens in space which is cool.
Also with the alien getting in or out, teleportation makes sense, but it being alien 1950s tech and all, what if one of the panels or something could become like a liquid and fold open or something? Flight of the navagator style.
But all that said, what if we were all wrong and the alien was never from the ship, instead it was walking around in the commonwealth and the ship, unrelated, crashed and hit him on the way down, and they went into a cave while wounded from it
Y'know, if you really think about it. The UFO having rivets might explain why EVERYTHING in the fallout universe has rivets. if an super advanced alien race capable of FTL travel still uses rivets in their designs and makes them work and the US reverse engineered them. Why wouldn't we slap on riverts on to absolutely everything? would also make sense why the Stingray has a ton of rivets.

I'm not sure how the UFO would have spent a ton of time in atmospheres though, given its a space craft. Certainly possible though, but not from a single atmospheric entry. I think it would take quite a few to produce the level of rust present on the model.
@@spydingo my honest guess (assuming the craft is steel) is the rust is from galvanic corrosion. If you have different metals in contact with each other and run any electrical current through them one will corrode. This aircraft probly had a electrical problem or it could have even been hit by lightning or something similar (plasma can induce an electric charge too so a glancing blow from a plasma cannon could have caused it too.)

6:25 I mean I see where you’re coming from. For me, the rivets don’t impact my suspension of disbelief. The idea that “they must have this technology, because they have this entirely unrelated other technology” is one I see a lot of people put forward and I really don’t get it.
What does putting those alloys together without rivets have to do with space travel?

my only changes to the design besides removing the rivets would be to push the cockpit into the saucer since it looks more like a bus to me. (Though this is me preferring the classic F3 design.
I get it, the cockpit/fuselage was the main thing I tried to change. I wanted to round it while maintaining the style it has. Unfortunately I couldn't dial in the look I wanted. I also prefer the F3 design.

@@spydingo I just attempted to find the article that I've read years ago that said this but I can't find it. Was from someone on the writing team during 3 saying it wasn't cannon, but just by googling it it seems people are split on it being cannon or not. Only ones I found for sure are Fallout Brotherhood of Steel and parts of Fallout Tactics that are non-canon. So I might be wrong, I dunno.

1) You missed a point on the crash site. It just crashed, where did all the grass and such come from in the 'gouge'? :)
2) The 'rivets' are a feature not a bug! Zetan's are heavily into the "retro-future" look :)
3) Why assume the UFO came from space? It's possible the Zetan's have a base or bases on Earth that have now been 'cut-off' by the Mothership take over and can't leave. Hence the rusting and wear
4) That's assuming the Zetan's are actually aliens and not some weird creation of "Them" in the background of Fallout Earth...

'die glocke' is just 'the bell' with 'die' being just one of the german words for 'the', so to be overly nitpicky "the die glocke" doen't really make sense and it tookme until you showed the poster to even understand the word (I thought you were talking about a 'daigloke' or something. I am aware it is unreasonable to expect everyone to speak every language, and this is not what this is about. all I'm saying is it would have been slightly easier to understand had you simply omitted the 'die'.
Other than that I'm really impressed you managed to make a video from one static asset and the crash landing.
Interestingly if you slow down time in fallout 4 while the ship crashes, you can see the ship skipping around while it's far from your position and smearing as a single streak across the entire sky in the region overhead while you're close (ie even slowed down you can't really get a nice look since even though it moves super slowly it still is massively blurred and smeared)

Yeah! That's pretty much what I do here, make 8 to 22 minute videos on static assets lol. I'm shocked I'm able to make so much out of it too. When I did the first video of this series I just threw it together in a few days for fun figuring, like everything else I've made, no one would watch it. I've never been happier to be proven wrong!
