- Crypt of the Necrodancer is an enormously difficult roguelike, so here's a TUTORIAL with 10 WINNING TIPS AND TRICKS for sad sacks like myself who can't coordinate their limbs into anything resembling a dance.

Got some quick tips for ya also if you decide to make another video!
1. Red bats are the worst aren't they? Well completely counter the annoying buggers by being on a opposite color tile as them and they can't touch you!
2. Buffering. Learn it. Know it. Live it. You can completely stand still for a beat without losing your groove chain so you can wait for enemies to move towards you. Either do this by digging, using an item, or toggling an item like the boots of leaping!
3. With the new DLC update, spike walls seem pretty useless right? Well, you can push a crate or barrel into them to gain the contents inside! You can also do this with trap doors. Sure it looks like it destroys them, but you will find your precious item on the next floor.

Been watching since the spelunky 101 days and this has been one of my favourite channels since, just wanted to say its really cool to see you still putting out videos of the same or better quality and just generally doing what you want with the channel even if the tyrannical youtube algorithm overlords don't favour it. These guides especially are always a fun watch even if you don't actually play the game in question.
I really love this guy's content. His style of humor, his clever quips and his gameplay are all top notch and right up my alley. Thing is, he's a bit of a feed spammer. I'd like to be subscribed but I feel a bit smothered by all of his videos.
I'm a professional musician and I sucked horribly at this game. I never thought to set the latency. It was wayyyyyy off. Thanks Blarrghgh! When you gonna play some Elden Ring with your adoring fans?!?!
Great video! Pretty much every advice relevant to the new player is here. I personally would add a point about learning to consistenly kill shopkeepers. Normal one is not very useful in this regard, but blood shop and food shop ones are almost always better off dead. Besides, food shopkeeper could reliably be killed by a dagger throw, and you can have a gamble with blood shopkeeper and dagger throw as blood shop is guaranteed to spawn early
Maybe it's too complicated tech for a new player, but learning to destroy stone walls by bosses is very useful too. The starting bomb is better off used to open a barell without appropriate environment around it or to reliably kill blood shopkeeper. Player just needs to remember that trying to break stone wall with 'taurs and green dragon is ok, but doing this with red dragon almost always is not worth it
Also, (nerd emoji):
> Consistent healing
Ring of Regen is very reliable too, especially before and after boss fights
> Shrine of rhythm
It doesn't make an off-beat rhythm. It forces you to skip every 8th beat and damages you if you miss a beat
> Full square of walls
Doesn't always contain potion. A player should be wary of the quite rare but dangerous varian where it is full of strong enemies
I think the most important items in the game are those that give piecing, they make so many difficult enemies completely trivial, especially in the later levels. Horse riders, orcs, & blademasters go from being a threat to easy pickings, with the right set up. It's especially useful if you're getting mind flooded, not having to think about what you'll do against the shield skeleton coming from the horse next beat or how you're gonna dodge the blademaster's retaliation is invaluable personally. I've gone so far as to drop the ring of wonder for the humble piecing ring (Also, love seeing NecroDancer content!)

And yeah, bard is easy mode, but it's nice to have a playstyle for everyone.
Even though I have never played this game nor watched anyone play it at great length, I loved watching your 101.

Very enjoyable guide and useful tips. I'd add aiming at around 3 damage per hit setup, that will help you clear most enemies in 1 hit, without overdoing it. You can use the rest of the equipement on defence, healing or utility
YES! Adding on, at *3 damage* you can _also_ do the following:
- _disarm all 3 types of shielded skeletons (base/green/dark)!_
- _kill golems (aside from dark dirt golem), minibosses in 1-2 hits!_
- _open crates/barrels/statues, i.e. get MORE FOOD!_ (there's at least one on every non-boss level!)
This would probably make an amazing series, I've never played the DLC so it'd be excitingly new, too
Ohhhh my god hell yeah Necrodancer! Ty Blargho! Hopefully you'll do more with the game? I think I'm a bit farther in than beginner and I'd love seeing some neat runs!
Don't forget to try & get a lucky charm if you notice a massive gold pile too. They seem a little tricky to get, but once you know the timing of when the leprechaun will spawn, it's a pretty easy free upgrade. I've found it particularly goo to do when playing as Aria, since you're almost guaranteed to get an earth dragon dropping a massive pile of gold in the first couple floors

I'd love a series of video guides with serious advice like this for people who are not mechanically gifted, I'm good at strategy, terrible at excecution and I've found that many many games can be beaten in really high levels with this aproach... But really I've played for decades and I still press the wrong buttons

This game is unbelievably hard, I'm currently stuck on aria, the one showcased, not being able to miss a beat, no hits, it's insane, but just as I started, I'm learning, still barely able to get past the first (or last) stage, and die to the boss
These are also genuinely amazing tips for newer players as well, it's like me watching spelunky 101, while knowing exactly what I'm doing anyway lol
Great video! If I ever play necrodancer I may vaguely remember some of these tips but feel like I came up with the knowledge myself.

I loved your original Spelunky 101 videos and it's really cool seeing one of my favorite games of all time getting the same treatment! Would also be fun to open up a public multiplayer lobby sometime and seeing the beautiful, marvelous chaos of that.

I always believed there should be a button to press at the same time with the movement to ignore attack, that would work so well with some wide range ataack weapons
7:50 Yeah, just when you think you understand English, it throws another curveball. English is my NATIVE LANGUAGE, and it still trips me up sometimes. Love that you're making a video on this game, it is one of my favorites of all time! I'm actually more than pretty decent at rhythm, but you always gotta keep the less coordinated in mind! Hope you make a proper series on this sometime id love watching your series on necrodancer, as someone who beat it with aria (but not all zones mode yet) and also beat the switch game of a similar manner called cadence of hyrule with aria i really enjoy seeing others learn the game and improve in their own ways

Tip: unlock every item with bard, then get rid of the ones you hate at the janitors room, then switch to another character (preferably cadence)
