    Seeing Necrodancer on this channel is quite a surprise. I used to tryhard it a bit before I picked up ULTRAKILL, where I got a couple Bolt clears and then moved on (we don't talk about my one season of CoNDOR performance in the worst tier...). I really hope this video gains traction since everything is well explained in a way that is simple to understand for people who haven't heard of Necrodancer. Game's brutal, but fun. Everyone should give it a shot.
    For the ULTRAKILL fans watching, playing Coda is comparable to trying to P rank P-2 with no damage using melee only on radiance tier 10. Haven't unlocked Coda myself, although i played it once or twice in a multiplayer lobby and after an hour i got to the zone 1 boss (where I instantly died).

      i think crypt is the hardest game because not only do you have to have extremely good reaction time + good thinking skills, you need to be extremely good at keeping the rhythm of the song, which sometimes is fatal if you end up missing one or two beats
      there could be some other random game nobodys ever heard of thats completely skill based and harder than crypt but until we find out about that game i feel safe in saying crypt is the hardest one

    • @abylaiashken2611
      @abylaiashken2611 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@azthtj that's perfectly valid ofc. I personally didn't play games I mentioned but my friend did, and what he is describing is nuts. In those games mistakes compound and punishment comes later, so to most people these games would come off as completely unfair. That could be the case with Crypt, you could already be on path on failure and not know, though I didn't play it either cause not my style. From what I see, the rhythmic nature of Crypt actually makes punishment come as quick as possible, especially with double speed.

    Currently I'm trying to fully complete this game. Started over a year ago, I think. I've already gotten used to the game and learned the patterns for every single enemy (because I'm a god tier gamer) but holy hell it's still difficult. I'm trying to beat all characters mode but I can't get past Aria. It's really tough because I'll end up pressing another key or double tapping and immediately dying. Also the nerves frequently get to me and I'll miss a beat or get tunnel vision. But I'm gonna keep trying. I've already done crazy stuff like Hollow Knight's Steel Heart achievement or So Over It so why should this stop me?

  • @beetlebottle
    @beetlebottle 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I'm in the middle of playing elden ring for the first time and I snorted at the thought of someone calling it harder than this
    Seriously though, necrodancer's difficulty comes from constantly having to make on-the-spot decisions in a tight space, with the harder runs leaving you with no second chances (unless you happen to stumble upon a potion). You can prepare, even over-prepare, for hard scenarios in games like elden ring, respawn from a checkpoint if you fail; in necrodancer, you have to pray for good rng and try not to lose focus.
    I love this game, have bought it four different times even, but I am not good at it lmao. I still love it, it feels like a challenge that is fair, one where you know what it is that you did wrong, much like the souls games.

    My friend set me up with a run as Kota and it wasn’t to bad been thinking to get this game but I’m probably not going to play it while DDR and guitar hero exist plus 90% of my time is spent playing that old air force sim of a nuclear war from like the Cold War I believe gonna have to check its name but I’m still figuring how to economically brace the will of the people so the Soviets don’t take out one of my three centers of gravity for anyone familiar with the readings of Carl Von clausewitz plus not including that little old thing I’m still running a game of OGRE that’s been running for about six years since we just slammed all the boards together and as we add on more we’re fighting out the rise and fall of Pittsburgh but with enough space to add New York into the fold. Only issue is the guy playing as Fac-South has several OGRE’s and like three GEV’s on an encirclement play to trap my expeditionary force in the suburbs but I’ve rambled about unrelated topics to nobody for long enough and for anyone reading this last line I am so sorry you had to read everything above this.

    There is no “hardest game ever.” There is only the standards you set yourself to. Basically rhythm game ever made has a customs scene, and in each of those games there are levels that would take you well over a 1000 hours just to be good enough to beat them, much less full combo or whatever the equivalent of that is. In my rhythm game of choice, Beat Saber, You can take it a step further than a full combo. You can go for 100% accuracy. How hard is 100% accuracy? Well, the hardest songs in the game that people have beaten can go upwards of 30 notes per second, and contain at the very least over 2000 notes, very often more. In all of the entire game, for everyone whose every played, 17 notes is the record for the longest song ever hit at 100% accuracy, and it had less than 2 notes per second. You can take it even further with modifiers. Like I said, there is no hardest game, only the standards you set yourself to, because no one would reasonably say that they can 100% those 30 notes per second maps. I’ve also coded a “game” where your goal is to blindly guess a number between 1 and 1000000000000000000000000000000000 or some number like that. Not fun, just hard. Harder than this game will ever be.

    To say there's no competition for hardest game is... a take. At least compared to things like Trials Rising or many traditional roguelikes that are continuously developed for decades (ToME, Nethack, etc) it's not as bad to 100%.

      @@azthtj there are communities which rank the hardest games, and while cond is near the top it doesn’t demand thousands of hours to complete like some others.

    • @azthtj
      @azthtj  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@loganm2924 i would say that it does require thousands of hours, the VERY top players have all taken around 300-500 on both coda and lowest each, which with the about 60 people to have ever 100% the game (be it on steam or platinum trophy) in the around 8 years the game has been out agree with me that cotnd is very high up, the demand from the game in terms of what its asking you to do is just absurd compared to many other games. i want you to name me some of those games since i genuinely think that crypt is one of, if not the hardest fully skill based games (like top 5 at the very least) of all time

    • @loganm2924
      @loganm2924 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@azthtj I’ve watched a good few people 100% it in under a thousand hours, but regardless: Trials Rising has I think less than half the number of completions, with most of them being over 3000 hours in the Trials franchise. Tales of Maj’Eyal has no clears without mods and many people well over 5000 hours. The only person I’ve seen get all achievements in Elastomania Remastered took about 1400 hours, 900 on a single achievement. DoDonPachi Resurrection isn’t always considered harder than CoND but was generally rated similar by people who are already experts when it comes to bullet hell games, and it’s basically impossible to get into otherwise. Completing everything in NetHack or Ancient Domains of Mystery pretty much the same goes as for ToME, these games have been developed and played for decades with some absolutely insane challenges. Pretty sure that’s enough to knock CoND out of the top 5. Yes CoND is ridiculously hard, and the hardest thing I’ve done is just Farewell Golden in Celeste which is much easier, but some games just require honestly absurd amounts of time to put in.

    • @loganm2924
      @loganm2924 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@azthtj While the hardest thing I've done in a game is just Farewell Golden in Celeste, which is much easier, I am basing all this off the opinions of people far more skilled than myself. The only person I've seen clear Elasto Mania Remastered took about 1400 hours, 900 on a single achievement. Trials Rising has far less clears than CoND and many of them with many thousands of hours in the Trials franchise. Trackmania Turbo is very similar to Rising in those regards, the challenges in these franchises get insane. DoDonPachi Resurrection is rated similarly to CoND, but with the bias of people with many thousands of hours experience in bullet hell games, and this one is nigh impossible to get into without such experience. Tales of Maj'Eyal has no clears without game-altering mods, and many people over 5000 hours etc. Similarly other such traditional roguelikes like NetHack or Ancient Domains of Mystery have (like ToME) been in development and being played for decades with more and more content being added, many people with thousands of hours and not a lot of progress.
