Love the swatching. Thanks for showing us. It’s amazing how many colours you can get from 5 colours. I bought a micro painter and never used it just because I liked it too but I may take it on holiday x
Thank you! The micro painters are just so cute! And I like how you can only fit a couple of colours in there because it pushes you to mix a bit more. I do enjoy mixing colours. Although it takes a lot more time than just having them 😆
I looooooove hard cover sketchbooks but i also find that i treat then like they’re too precious to mess up. What i started doing is using the first few pages for swatches and it helps me get over that sense of first pristine page fear.
Using the first few pages for swatches is a great idea to get over that fear! I’ve been using the Royal Talens art creations sketchbooks lately and I don’t have the fear with those. Even though they are so beautiful! 😍 perhaps because I bought a few of them for like £5!
I really enjoyed how you painted those primary colour palettes. That flat brush seems zo work so well with gouache! Thanks for sharing this moment of practice time with us.
I got my Jackson’s haul yesterday but now you’ve given me more ideas to put in my basket. Really like the look of that softcover sketchbook.can’t wait for the weather to perk up so I can go out sketching. Love your paintings
Ahh that always happens doesn’t it 😅 Watching art hauls can be a bad idea after you’ve already placed your order! I hope you got some lovely art supplies in your haul! I am also looking forward to some nicer weather, I think I’m using that as my excuse why I haven’t gone out to paint at the moment 🙊 Thank you so much! For watching and commenting. I really appreciate it xx
Have you tried gouache before?! I still struggle with it. I think I use too thick layers too soon but I’m going to try using it in a dried form more like watercolour and see how it goes! 😬x
@@Little_Ammy_Arts I use acrylic gouache and I use W&N white gouache with my watercolours to highlight, it is very thick, more so than the acrylic version. I’ll enjoy learning about it, I think I’ll play with mixing like you did, your colours were beautiful xx
Honestly the mixing practise is the best thing I’ve done for myself when it comes to gouache. I just can’t believe the amount of colours you can achieve with just a few tubes of paint!! 🤯😍
Most of mine are hardcover too! I have tried the Strathmore softcover toned sketchbook but I really struggle to get it to lay flat. Those books are not so flexible! Thank you so much for watching ☺️
I’m a new subscriber here. Very much enjoyed the art haul and the gorgeous swatching - and the beautiful paintings in your Stillman and Birn sketchbook. I just love their sketchbooks. Anyway, thanks for the video.
Thank you so much for watching, subscribing and for your lovely comment! 😍 I love my Beta sketchbook from Stillman and Birn that much I’m now debating one of their toned paper sketchbooks! Have you tried those?
Not weird at all! It is a great sharpener 😄 I use lots of different pencils - Derwent lightfast, Caran Dache luminance, Prismacolor and also sketching pencils and it fits them all! And you can buy spare generic sharpener blades from amazon and keep it alive forever pretty much ☺️ (unless you’re like me and you drop it on the floor and smash it up) 🤣
Thank you! 😄 it was so easy to make! If you watch my January vlog video I talk about how I made it on there (I think it’s timestamped) ☺️ All you need is some board of some kind. I used some old packaging I had but it’s like really thin hard board. And I just drilled holes in it for the rings to go through and it’s perfect for storing all different types of paper. A great handmade sketchbook idea! 😄
Thank you so much! Please don’t apologise. Your English is great! 😊 I will absolutely make a video soon about the portable painter micro. But I can tell you now I have used it often and I absolutely LOVE it 😍
Thank you for watching! ☺️ The specific colour I wanted was the Helio Turquoise and I could only find that in the Schmincke brand. After trying both the Winsor and Newton and Schmincke gouache there isn’t much difference between them other than some colours unique to each range I think! Hope this helps ☺️
okay, this was probably one of the most interesting swatch videos I've ever seen!. I am absolutely going to get myself those three basics and try my own version. I also watch Sarah Burnes Studio, but yours seems to be more 'real' and interesting to me. Thank you!!!!
Such a lovely comment H thank you so much 🥹💜 can’t tell you how glad I am that you’re enjoying the videos and also I know you will LOVE these colours 😍 a perfect little palette in my opinion x
Praise Jesus! You're the first person I've seen using a ceramic box cutter when doing an unboxing! I'm always cringing and hoping one doesn't chop off their fingers!! ❤ Courtney
I love watching paint mixing and swatching! Thanks.
Thanks for watching! 🥰

Books + watercolor palettes. Yep, can relate.
Books & palettes are my most precious possessions! 🙊

Flat brushes are my favourite for gouache! And acrylics 😁 I’m so glad you enjoyed the video thank you so much for watching! X
This is my first video of yours that I have seen, loved it! Now I want to get a similar palette!
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed the video ☺️ It is a fun palette. You can achieve such vibrant colours!

I have to try these colours now. I’ve been toying with the idea of gouache too since seeing Sarah’s video, but you’ve convinced me I need to ❤

I'm a softcover sketchbook person but most of the ones I currently own are hard cover, darn it. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the color mixes.

10:47 - For if you want to jump straight to the swatching! 🎨
Weird that I'm most excited for the sharpener because I cant find one I like

How did you make that sketch board thing that you show at 3 :15. That is awesome. I need one since i love so many diff papers for diff things.

really nice video. It would be nice to see your opinion about Portable Painter Micro . sorry for my english I'm french. 😊

Thank you for the interesting video. Is there a reason, why you bought some colors from one brand and others from another?

I am going to as well!
@@Little_Ammy_Arts just put in my order plus a Khadi fat book 😊

🤣 I love my ceramic box cutter! I have a few different styles. And they last longer than normal blades too! Win win x
