The Talens Art Creations Sketchbook holds up surprisingly well to wet media! I haven’t saturated my pages in it; but, I have added a decent amount of water and it has handled it much better than I could have ever expected. It has also handled multiple layers of media (watercolour, then gouache, then luminance pencils, then neocolour IIs and/or poscas). It buckles a little bit but it’s not crazy. For the price, it’s amazing!
Just as a warning: be very careful when working with cobalt and cadmium pigments, they are toxic. I just thought I'd mention it since you didn't talk about it in the video
No they aren't. They WERE only toxic for those mining it and manufacturing it. Only through breaking in the powders over the course of many years. There are more heavy metals in baby food than in paints. I don't see people up in arms over baby food, but you'll pretend to fear paint. Gtfoh. There are more heavy metals naturally in the human body than in cadmium paint. The toxic bs was marketing used to convince ppl to pay more for synthetics. No one is huffing dried pigment. I wish youtubers were as bright as they pretend to be. You, no one could ever eat enough paint for it to become toxic. Stop the nonsense
i’d love to hear your review on the shinhan designer gouache as well as the shinhan watercolour especially compared to the mijello! what an absolutely beautiful haul 😍 can’t wait to see you play!
Thank you! I'll add those to my list. I'm curious myself because I really enjoy my Mission Gold colors, so the comparison will be interesting with them both being Korean based manufacturers.
Such a great haul! Be careful using the Daniel Smith paint in your travel palette - especially the Ultramarine. It shrinks up and gets really hard continuously and likes to fall out all the time, so I would recommend adding in some of your vegetable glycerine when you pour them into the pans. Can't wait to see what you do with all these goodies!
Love the art haul!! I like the makeup palette idea! All the paint you purchased I want! Kuretake set. I do have the regular 48 pan set and love it! And the two shinhan sets are on my wish list. Happy painting!!! ❤
I am also using the eyeshadow pans for watercolor. I just wished I could find larger ones. Bur I am fine with the mirror for mixing😊 I have the same STA WET pallet I am using it for acrylics and I love it. I can just paint as long as I like without loosing any paint.
Yea it could if you think you need something that big. I would suggest getting the matching sponge and palette paper to go inside. It doesn't automatically come with the larger palette, but it does with some of the smaller ones. It also might be cheaper to buy multiple smaller ones than the large. It all depends on what you are looking for though so definitely shop around.
🤯 About 97% of your haul items I either already own and love, or are on a wishlist/shopping cart online at this very moment! Great minds think alike. 😅👍 With the Talens sketchbook I found that you can add white highlights to your drawings and along with some minimal shading, it really adds extra dimension to the work. I've never used Posca on it yet though it may bleed through, but white Gelly Roll pens or PH Martin's Bleedproof White works wonderfully. With the slanted metal line work pens you can also use india, acrylic and calligraphy inks in it, or even masking fluid (though many brands of liquid mask need to be thinned very slightly with distilled water first). I've been adding super fine line details to my watercolor pieces with the Amsterdam & Daler Rowney FW opaque acrylic inks and it's a lifesaver over using a quill nib on a dip pen. 🤪 Thanks for sharing your haul! So excited to see how they work for you. 🙏😄 (Oh, and you never need apologize for buying whatever you wish with your own means. It's your giftcards, your money!) ✌☺️
Whow what a haul congrats on your new supplies 🥰 it's ao hard to pick what I would like to see next there are so many interesting paints! But I'm really interested to see you use the nouveau set in ghibli paintings if possible 🥰
Thank you! 🤗 I do have a couple videos coming up from a backlog of footage, but after that I think I will start with the art nouveau set! I love Studio Ghibli so much 🥰
If you are using the eyeshadow palette with the magnetic pans you need to test it and put water in them first or they are going to rust and ruin your paints
do you know any substitutions for potter's pink or a way to mix it? I've been looking for that color but it can be pricey. (acrylics would work too lol)
This Kuretake Potter's Pink is a little interesting with PG7 in it. However, I've heard of ppl using Perm.Rose + Burnt Umber + a hint of Ultramarine, which most palettes should have. You'll have to play with the ratios though.
😅 haha I was wondering the same thing and that's why I got empty makeup pans. However, I think the eyeshadow palettes are thicker and if you search 'business card holder' that's a more accurate size. 🤔

Good to hear - I am finding the creamy color is putting me off. Do you lay down any background color?
I want to try the ShiHan gouache so bad . I’ve been eying both sets ❤
Nouveau paintings!
Excellent haul!
Thank you!! 😊

Would love to see the makeup palette when done
Will add it to the lists of requests 😀
I love my shinhan pastel paints. Underrated brand and affordable
Thanks, that's good to know! I also agree about them being underrated.
Looks like you had fun! The arttoolkit palette is the Folio size. The demi it tine, half the size of a business card.
Thanks! Yea I blanked when I was filming haha

Thank you 🥰 I think I'll be swatching the art nouveau set first and then I'll do the makeup palette after that, since I got a couple requests for it.
@@JessicaLynnIllustration I like that plan. I will be watching for the videos. Thank you!

That's awesome! What size are the eyeshadow pans you have? I would also like to find some larger ones.
Nice haul, lots of goodies.
Thanks - I can't wait to start using them!
What a collection! Lots of exciting items there. The large palette at the end-do you think that would work for gouache?

Thanks so much for the tips! 👍 It's nice to know there are others out there like us haha 🥰
Awesome haul=3 Thank you for sharing! I love such videos, it is like I'm unpacking together with you=3
Thanks! I know I love watching haul videos too for the same reason and to maybe find new things I might like 😊

Pretty sure those expensive toolkit palettes are just empty eyeshadow palettes with a hefty price tag. 🤷♀
