- Orange County CCW Course California is our training course at TapRackBang Training that will get you ready to receive a Valid Course Certificate for Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
This is an overview of what range training looks like for the concealed carry weapon course. As seen, we practice the five point presentation multiple times so you know it well. We also cover a range of drills including control pair, hammer pair, and failure drills. We shoot from 3 yards, 5 yards and 7 yards.
We cover all CCW qualifications and things you’ll need to know to pass your CCW test in California.
The steps to get a concealed carry weapon course are that you are a good moral character, good cause exists for issuance of the license, you meet residency requirements, and you have completed an acceptable course of firearms training (like this one).

At 2:36, groupings are great, far superior then when I see LEOs qualifications.
Yea shortly after getting my first gun I went to an indoor range in Artesia and they had a lil LE training sesh and after looking at their targets and listening to the frustration of the trainer I lost a lot of respect for the average officer. Couldn’t even tell where they were aiming, and this was all under 10 yards.
Do you have your Orange County CCW Permit? What kind of gun do you prefer to carry?
L.A. county, an eternity for CCW.
My preferred carry is a Smith and Wesson 43 c 8 shot 22lr. I know, unconventional and unorthodox, it works for me based on several decades of firearms research and training and studying homicide forensic autopsies.
I train every day with dry fire laser drills and at least once a week with live fire with multiple platforms. Once a month outdoor range with multiple long gun platforms.
If you have not guessed yet I am in the firearms business LOL.
Also do a lot of home scenario-based training with training partners using laser trainers, low light, surprise, multiple moving targets, that type of thing, along with what if you cannot get to your gun training drills.

So with the fee for your course, you guys take care of the livescan/background check and everything?
We bring in a mobile company for live scan & they have their own fee. The sheriff will run your background check, they take care of that. Hope that helps!
