The question we see in the comments section more than any other is "How are the Autobots who died in the movie still alive in this series?". While it IS addressed in our first episode (the 99th episode chronologically) the explanation is brief and seems to be missed by a lot of people so watch THIS before starting the Transformers G1 Returns series proper... Still seeing a lot of comments regarding how Prowl, Ironhide, etc couldn't possibly be alive because the Autobot Mausoleum was destroyed... Like we said in the video, a little suspension of disbelief is necessary in order for this series to work but if you really need an explanation, here's a possibility: The Quintesson's had clearly already been to the Mausoleum before the events of 'Dark Awakening' as Optimus Prime was not in his tomb. We never actually SEE the corpses of Prowl, Ironhide or any other Autobots. How do we know the Quintessons didn't remove the others from their tombs as well? Perhaps they were planning on building a "Zombie Autobot" army? There're multiple other possibilities like for example, maybe the Mausoleum as a "Final resting place" is symbolic and it's just filled with Autobot "markers" similar to the Decepticon crypt and the actual bodies were kept at Autobot City or wherever they died?
Plus it's not like Hasbro themselves didn't expect a little suspension of disbelief when they brought Optimus back. From the TFwiki entry for The Return of Optimus Prime Part 1: "More or less this entire episode is a massive continuity error, as it purports to pick up at the end of Optimus Prime's last prior appearance in 'Dark Awakening', yet actually presents entirely different conditions. In the prior episode, Optimus Prime lost an arm and half of his face (on top of his longstanding physical damage still left from the animated movie), but was still alive as he managed to steer his ship at high speed through the heavy fire of a massed Quintesson spacefleet, deliberately ramming a detonator that *caused a binary supernova and obliterated the ship and the entire solar system around it. Yet in this new episode, Optimus Prime is shown completely intact* and pristine, albeit dead, as his (completely different) ship drifts, slowly and alone, through the system.".... So if you can accept all of THAT, surely it's possible the other dead Autobots could have somehow not been aboard the mausoleum when it exploded, right?
At the end of the day, it's meant to be a lighthearted kids show. Devoting a ton of time to death isn't in line with the original G1 series nor is it in line with our fan-made revival.
yeah that works or maybe rodimus put the bodys on the escape ship, also i have a theory for optimus , still functioning optimus hit the escape ship , and while his body lay dormant the on board computer made repairs until the ship lost all power
I always assumed Optimus being intact was because of different animation studios. “Dark Awakening” was animated by AKOM, while “The Return of Optimus Prime” duology was animated by Toei. In all likelihood, AKOM and Toei had zero communication with each other on this matter.
Quints had time window tech that also had freaky side effects.
I head canoned that he used the time window to pull the dead Autobots out of the Mausoleum prior to its destruction, and as a side effect it also retroactively restored Optimus body to pristine status and even changed the circumstances around the Supernova making it plausible for the Morgans to rescue him later.
Thus forming a self -contained time loop.
2 words, personality components. They were removed from the carcasses and installed in new bodies. So easy!
Like I mentioned, it’s not exactly a catastrophe, but you've got to admit, in 'Dark Awakening' we catch Daniel reciting the roll call of fallen heroes like Ironhide and Wheeljack in that haunting Mausoleum scene. Yet, I guess we could entertain a dozen 'what ifs' to piece together the backstory-perhaps the remains of those lost Autobots just drifted off into the cosmos or something equally mysterious. Still, I’m truly jazzed about all the amazing stuff you’ve accomplished and what’s on the drawing board for upcoming episodes! Excelsior!
I appreciate the explanations, but none were required by me. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to watch your content. Plus, I’m really a seasons one and two fanboy. I don’t think too much about anything that happened after that as far as story arcs go. I’m cool with the inclusion of characters introduced in the movie time thereafter though…

Honestly, u guys should just be happy to see some fresh G1 Transformers episodes. Nothing is going to be perfect, the originals werent perfect. Minor continuity errors should be the least of our worrires. We're lucky to get this, its not like we got a million options for decent Transformers, esepcially these days. There was another fan produced Transformers project redubbing Headmasters and that seems to have fizzled out. Was pretty cool for the few episodes done. So as far as I know, THIS is it.
We should support anything halfway decent to encourage more, not criticize creators into having to defend themselves from us.

People need to just enjoy things for what they are. Adults in their 40s and 50s making such a big deal over the continuation of a cartoon meant to sell toys is just embarrassing. 😂

We came up with our own theory years ago on how it was possible to bring back the fallen Autobots. In Dark Awakening Optimus said he had a mission and a plan while constructing a ship to leave. Never really touching on what that plan was. We believed he actually took the sparks of all the fallen Autobots with him and was always planning on bringing them back as more 'zombie' Quintessons and once the future Quintesson restored Optimus he would of known about that original plan and helped finish the mission by restoring everyone .

Don't you mean that Optimus took their laser cores? A Spark was the same thing as a laser core, but the terminology in beast wars was different.

This explanation was pretty good and the banter with Sludge and Slag was good, but an explanation about stopping the mausoleum from going into a sun during Dark Awakening may have helped as well.

@@FanaticFilmsINC They could have had backups of their personality components and memories in case those components were irreparably damaged but their Sparks were still active and the rest of their body capable of supporting life. In that case, the quintesson could have just built them new bodies and uploaded/installed those components into new bodies before restoring their sparks. Hope this helps fill in that particular plot hole.
Don't care how Prowl returned,just happy he did! He's my favorite Autobot! It ticked me off seeing him die like that in the movie.
Honestly this was the right call. Plus it fulfills a lot of fans' dreams of seeing S1 and 2 bots fighting S3 and 4 cons. I honestly geeked out watching a lot of the firefights. Plus it allows more plot opportunities too. The fact you cooked up a reasonable explanation was a good idea.

Hey Kody! Thanks for the nice words. The casting call went surprisingly well. We had way more auditions than expected, likely due to the YT algorithm picking up our last video right after the casting call went out.
Blame it on Grapple. Being the perfectionist he is, he had to rebuild it precisely to spec.

think the dialogue explained that the Quintesson tech restored the autobots reasonably well, and makes sense , if they did prime they can do the rest . Just need an explanation on how they escaped the destruction of the burial ship in dark awakening , which is easily enough doable. Just say all all the bodies had a fail safe ejection capsule

good explanation. we also know from other media that they can download their memories AND that the season 2 Autobots were on the Ark as crystals waiting for new bodies and that the Combaticons' personalities were stored in a file cabinet, so there were lotsof options.
I think we just say that Trypticon was so stupid that he *thought* he smashed the Autobot volcano but it was really just the mountain that housed that artillery battery. Then he walked away to join the other Decepticons when they called him over to destroy Metroplex.

if Ginrai was meant to be an upgrade for Optimus Prime, any of these explanations are plausible.
Yall did a excellent job with the continuation. People just need to stop nitpicking about the storyline and they should just enjoy it. Yall did a superb job with continuation definitely more than the he man continuation from the 80's. And when they made dark awakening it didn't make sense. Because how was he still alive after that explosion? They were insulting our intelligence back with their antics of transformers show. During the 80's. Keep up the great work yall. Well, maybe the Quintessons took all autobot bodies from the Mausoleum, not just Optimus's.

Love this video! It’s crazy how many people missed it the first time around! Quick question though- How are Bumblebee and Goldbug both in it at the same time since Bumblebee is Goldbug? I know they’re both in the end of Rebirth at the same time which actually started the continuity error lol. My idea is maybe when Bumblebees original body was destroyed in “The Return of Optimus Prime” and they actually transferred his mind into the new Goldbug body. Then when Cybertron was restored somehow it revived his original body and now we have both Goldbug and Bumblebee. Does that make sense? I’d love to get your thoughts on it and see if you had a different idea! Great job on everything! Love your videos and so excited for the next one!!!
While appreciated, I didn't need an explanation. Dead characters showing back up with a handwave explanation that the Quintession tech from "The Return Of Optimus Prime" did it was enough for me and dare I say, very much in line with how the actual show would've handled it plus it was nice to see those needless deaths undone.
I mean at the end of "Dark Awakening" there should've been nothing left of Optimus yet he was back fully intact and undamaged in "The Return Of Optimus Prime" so people having problems with dead characters coming back to life really don't have a leg to stand on here.
Exactly! I should've known the fandom better and added "The Quintessons raided the Mausoleum when they reactived Prime in Dark Awakening" to tie up loose ends but I've been so tied up in this project for so long, I actually forgot that happened!

I have said this before but season 3 lost the mixture of characters that seasons 1 and 2 had.
A lot of things thinking about it didn’t make sense with the movie.
E.g. The team on the shuttle from Cybertron to Earth. Ratchet and Brawn being on the shuttle didn’t make sense. I would’ve thought the shuttle team consisting of Ironhide, Prowl, Trailbreaker and Bluestreak made more sense.
Plus transformers have suffered similar damage to the shuttle crew and to both Wheeljack and Windcharger and Optimus Prime and Megatron and the wounded Decepticons have survived similar damage.
Megatron, Thundercracker, Skywarp and Insecticon clones being transformed into Galvatron, Scourge, Cyclonus and the sweeps was a stupid idea. They should have been left as seperate characters.
The same goes for Bumblebee into Goldbug and also Hot Rod to Rodimus Prime. The majority of these characters were established characters that should have been left alone.
Soundwave, Thrust, Dirge and Ramjet not having a scratch on them after leaving Autobot City didn’t make sense. Optimus Prime charging through would have left the similar damage to Thundercracker, Skywarp and the insecticon clones.
Wheeljack being at Metroplex didn’t make sense either. I would’ve thought both he and Ratchet would’ve been on Moonbase 1 or two with either Soike or Bumblebee or Jazzand Cliffjumper. I also possibly Hoist and Grapple being on Moonbase 1 and 2.
Also more of the season 1 and 2 Autobots could have been used in some form along with the Roadbuster, Whirl, the Omnibots, Protectorbots, Aerialbots, Devcon, Elita 1, Chromia, Firestar, Moonracer, Greenlight, Lancer, Jetfire, Omega Supreme, Sky Lynx and the season 3 mini autobots.
The same goes for the Deluxe Insecticons, Reflector, Octane, Trypticon, Runamuck, Runabout, the Stunticons, the Combaticons and the Predacons could have appeared.
There is a video I will post later that was posted how the autobot city scene could have been.
Regarding the Autobots, my take is that the Quintessons had taken ALL of the Autobots within the mausoleum with the intention of creating a zombie army, but they only managed to reactivate Optimus Prime before Rodimus Prime and his crew showed up. The Quintesson who rebuilt Optimus Prime, Klementia, just so happened to be one of the few Quints with a conscience, and decided to atone for the actions of his fellow Quintessons by rebuilding the Autobots they had taken from the mausoleum (Prowl, Ironhide, Ratchet, Brawn, Huffer, Wheeljack, Windcharger, Red Alert, Trailbreaker, and Smokescreen). Sadly, a few Autobots taken from the mausoleum were unsalvageable, these being Roadbuster, Whirl, Topspin, Twin Twist, Camshaft, Downshift, Overdrive, Cromar, Zetar, and Aragon (basically my explanation as to why the Deluxe Vehicles, Jumpstarters, Omnibots, and Powerdashers never appeared in the cartoon).
Also, I had an idea for the four-parter: at some point, one of the Autobots calls Cerebros as "conscientious objector" for refusing to fight, especially when the Autobots need Fortress Maximus there and then.
Huffer I suspect was mentioned in error in dark awakening? As the Autobots mentioned in dark awakening were from the shuttle.
The only one not mentioned from the shuttle was Brawn. Which I suspect Brawn should’ve been mentioned and not Huffer.
I doubt that Trailbreaker, Red Alert and Smokescreen were killed.
As those scenes were not used. Plus Red Alert appeared in ‘Five Faces Of Darkness’ Part 5.
Was there ever a point that Cyclonus, Scourge and the Sweeps met Thundercracker, Skywarp and the Insecticons? That would make for a hilarious episode

Alright, it's not the end of the world, and I've got the gist of it now that you've broken it down for me. Just a heads-up, though: technically speaking, aside from Optimus Prime, all the other Autobots like Ironhide, Prowl, Ratchet, Brawl, Wheeljack, and the rest met their ultimate fate when the Autobot Mausoleum was blasted to bits during 'Dark Awakening.' Also, how did Bumblebee morph back from Goldbug without so much as a how-do-you-do? And choosing Spike as Prime’s Power Master over Hi-Q-wasn’t that a curveball for the whole Cerebros/Fortress Maximus saga? But hey, despite these twists, what an incredible rendition of the G1 saga! It's a breath of fresh air from the original series which, let's face it, left us hanging with only a brief glimpse of what could have been a grand five-part epic by David Wise. Keep the hits coming, you’re doing stellar work reviving these classics!
I honestly never had an issue with them being brought back since they really like that, I guess it’s probably the fact that it wasn’t shown properly, although Not surprised
Season 3 would use the last minute or so to explain some lore (advertise the then-"new" toys) by giving some details about these new characters. If you haven't considered it already you could use that as a nom-intrusive infodump for some of the backstory
I thought it was made very clear in the opening episode, some people really do lack attention spans these days, not everything needs x number of speed to view folks! As for the volcano plot hole....I think the mountain they rebuilt could be artificial and an extension of their defensive systems. If you ever do a fifth episode, you could maybe reference that Ratchet and Wheeljack have been developing it into something similar to Autobot City! Maybe Hasbro could sell it as a Transformer like they do the Ark and Nemesis figures these days.
It made sense to me the quints tech could resuscitate the old Autobots, the big question I had was how did they get the bodies, they should have been destroyed with the mausoleum in the season 3 episode Dark Awakening, as it contained the dead from the autobot city raid and was destroyed by the mind controlled optimus prime zombie.
There's many possibilities. I put a couple in a pinned comment just now but another would be, perhaps the "Personality Database" (or whatever it was referred to as) which Starscream raided to get the Combaticons online in "Starscream's Brigade" was rebuilt and housed the personality files for Prowl and the rest? Then all they'd just need new bodies which the Quintesson could have provided. There's probably much better explanations but I just pulled that one out of my..... errr, off the top of my head!

I remember hearing Prime say the other Autobots were resurrected with Quintesson technology. To be honest, I love having the 1980s Transformers back; I hated how the movie killed them off. Looking forward to more of your episodes!

How do you plan on using Nightstick and Fracas, Cyclonus and Scourge's targetmaster partners since they work for Zarak?
A few of them appeared in the previous episodes. We don't currently have any plans to use any of the Nebulons going forward so we're just gonna assume Cyclonus and Scourge went back to their old weapons and are no longer Targetmasters.

I must ask how you folks back there intend to handle the rest of the new cybertronians who will appear in this series, because one thing you must be careful about is that too many characters at once could be a very painful crick in the neck.
Yes, too many characters can be a problem however we've got one more story arc in the works to end "Season 4". Beyond that, we've just got some basic plot ideas but no current plans to introduce a ton of new characters (IE. No Victory characters).
The more characters the better. Just rotate them around.
