usually 10minute replacement videos take me about two days.... so this 25minute video will probably be the death of me trying it myself.... great entertainment video as usual, thankyou
@@necropolisk this was a bit of a pain in the arse of a job tbh, it took me about 2 hours! Maybe a bit more. It always takes a LOT longer to do a job when filming. I remember doing the clutch on my c1. First time I did it years ago before TH-cam it took me about 3 hours, making the video took all bastard day!
Thanks, great video. Having exactly the same issues with bonded bolts on the thermostat couldn’t get them out. Amazing how my DPF issue is growing into glow plugs, controller, EGR, thermostat and now I’ll need a water pump and fix hopefully.
The most common dpf issue on these, well on the later cars than this, is probably the thermostat. The dpf will never regen if the engine is too cold. I had the same issue on my dad’s 335d when he first got it. Changed both thermostats for genuine bmw and that sorted the dpf issues. I did the glow plugs and module on the car in a recent video too. The glow plug issue wasn’t actually causing any issues tbh, but my dad is very fussy and just couldn’t live with the car having a fault flagging up on it when he plugged his diagnostic scanner in.
Thanks for the link -also a good watch - more relaxed after just replacing the glow-plugs :) went OK, none of them stuck- didn't know about a cleaning tool to get all the crud out of the chamber - next time! Controller module also - done by touch and knowing what it looked like, my back is suffering.... @@StupidBlokeStupidVideos
@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos After much reading up, I'm in agreement and hope the higher temp makes a difference also. my C110 scanner had all glow -plugs and controller errors, multiple DPF errors and regeneration not working faults/back .... I also noticed the water temp seemed to struggle getting above 75-C, but never thought an issue until reading up, so changing the thermostats . Have purchased DPF cleaner foam and will inject in the pressure sensor line and hope this gives it all a kick start (WHEN I get it all put back...). Thanks for making the videos - great descriptions also- take that Sh***er off that sh***er- know exactly what you mean.!
@@paulroberts2899 yea the thermostats are the worst thing to cause dpf issues on these I think. Also cos there’s no temp gauge you don’t realise the thermostat is fucked until the dpf blocks up 🙄
@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos Do you know if glow plugs always throws out a fault code if bad? Have had some problems starting up this winter when below -15 celcius.. no faults from sparkplugs or battery
@@simenkarl1234 you mean the glow plugs, they usually do yes but you could possibly have some that are weak but working. They don’t need them until it’s very cold, but -15°c it would need them to start up without a lot of cranking. The glow plug module is a common issue for failing on these cars too. It’s the same setup as in this other video I did on my dad’s 335d. th-cam.com/video/2t339NLbIIQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=0CZQBcE-0-Zu8-no
My M47 was never getting to temperature so I replaced the thermostat (lots of work, as you can see here)... then it was still not getting up to temperature! Turned out all it needed was the little EGR thermostat on top (5 minute job)... D'oh!
did the waterpump not leak at all after the new sealant? I’ve had the exact same happen with my thermostat and one bolt is left in the water pump so it looks like i’ll have to take the pump out too
This looks simple, today on the highway e39 530D m57 at a speed of 180 km h, it started to raise the temperature to 110 degrees, I immediately lowered the speed to 120 and turned on the heating to max and the temperature returned to 90, what can it be, there is no water it failed, I didn't turn on the air conditioner. the outside temperature is 40 degrees, visco is works normaly
@@mr_ali3692 your water pump could be the problem. I’m pretty sure that the 530d has an electric aux pump for the heating circuit which may have been just enough to cool your engine down 🤔
just done my e60 535d, ref the egr cooler bolts,,,, thats what the devious germans DO LOL,mine also had one torx and one allen stud bolting the egr cooler on, even greater deviancy,,,the have made them non magnectic haha ,so when you drop one ya magnectic pick up tool doesnt work, bstids lol
Bien hecho como siempre !! As normal lots of parts have to come off before the one u need to take off ! I take it u have a scrappys nearby, and can use the french transport to get the parts ??
Not sure why I watched a water pump video for 25 minutes, but you were pretty entertaining, so cheers!

Thanks mate, really helpful for me as I couldn’t find any videos with the same engine set up as mine.
Thanks mate. Hope it helps
Someone has got to say it. The Arabic letters of your tattoo translate as: "Falafel with harissa number twenty two".
For all I know you could be right!
Thank you for making this video

No mate not leaking. I should probably have changed it as a matter of course whilst I had it off though tbh
6:22 that is a sensor for air quality, that way auto recirculation on your AC knows when to kick in
Nice one! Makes sense being where it is too
Very helpful video! So you were not tempted to do an EGR Cooler delete?
Nah, it’s already blanked inside with the handle off an old screwdriver anyway so the coolant can’t even get through it 😂
I've not removed mine yet but seems to me it would free up a lot of access space 😁

So it wasn't the Renault 5 thermostat you shoved in the pipe that made it fail??
It’s possible but I don’t think so,.. I think it had been weakened when the engine mount was shagged a couple of years ago.

Volvic or Evian, sparkling or still we need more clarification on what cam be used as a substitute 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Bmw are partial to a bit of Apollonaris I believe.
why not just replace the water pump since you took it off?? They're cheap enough
I’d left it too late in the day to get one delivered by that point
