It doesn't have tq steer. It has torque sway. its goes every which way.
It had reduced torque because of the bigger sway and stabilizer bars but it got torque steer
I used to own a 2004 gtp comp g with the same heads up display and controls. You may not like it but that was my favorite feature. You push the middle at night and it goes into stealth mode. The whole dash goes dark. Just you and your heads up display. Awesome!
had an 04 gtp also, that thing would haul balls! dusted many a charger rt in the day
I picked up an 08 gxp with 49,000 original miles last year. Garaged most of its life. White like this one, love this color. Can't speak highly enough about the gxps.

@hitek9wittafulclip if youre think about buying one just budget for a transmission, ive had my car for 4 years and i havent had to replace it yet but i got a transmission tune for it and that helped a ton but as far as im concerned its a maintenance item that lasts about 60k miles

Best review I've seen of the Grand Prix GXP yet. Wish there were more like this. The Grand Prix Gxp is underrated in my opinion. As far as speed goes it runs well against up to 2009 Dodge RT's. also has been known to give the latter models a scare too.

I've had two, one being a 2004 GT and it rides so smooth and not bumpy like the GXP. I have to go over a really big or deep pit hole to feel a jolt. And it handles like the wheels were glued to the ground, awesome steering.
I like all these types of cars. My dad got a new GTP every few years with the superchargers from like 97 - 2004

I had one but it had some issues got rid of it .but I love these cars don't see many on the road.but I want one that's in mint condition

Love my '06 GXP
I nearly bought one of these a couple years ago, and the only reason I didn't was because it had high miles, but while researching the vehicle I came across some information about turning off the DOD system (whatever GM calls it) and that would stop the oil consumption issue.
I have an 08 GXP and love it also I've drove over 1,000 different cars so far cause of working at my grandpa's dealership and I've drove cars that costed up to 100,000 $ before and still the gxp is 1 of my all time favorite common cars which really aren't so common but I do have lots of plans for this car and it will be 1 of a kind

I think it's pretty awesome and wish I had one (content with my GTP), but one thing to remember, at the time gasoline prices were very high, and to buy something that wasn't fuel efficient was just a bad-to-impossible choice; the gas gauge was the needle to be concerned with. Good review!
I owned one for 2 years and always averaged around 22 mpg combined hwy/city. Thats better than a lot of v6's and a some 4 cyclinders

The Feel Of Fast i had a gtp and was going to get the gxp but heard there were transmission problems from the torque of the v8.
The GTP had those same exact tranny issues... but you can fortify these transmission to the point that they become bullet proof for stock applications.
Rick Dangerous cool. i knew they supposedly fortified for gxp. i never had any problems with mine. just the water pump. mechanic said blower would be next so i traded it. loved it though.
The GXP had a few mods, from factory, on the transmission... but they really did shit in the long run. These cars basically have run their course more or less because 2008 was the last time one was built. If you turbo them they can be fairly quick for a street car... watch?v=6iR7Npk_52U

I have a WS6 that I plan on doing an LS3 swap with and want to snag a 4 door automatic Pontiac. Thinking of one of these, a Bonneville GXP. Thought about maybe G8 GT/GXP if I can find one at a decent price but I think I’d rather use that money towards the Trans Am lol.

5 sec 0-60 & 14 sec 1/4 in a car that is nice looking and makes for a great tourer...all for less that 10 grand for a 2008 70-80,000 mile example....I'M BUYING ONE NEXT . WITH 65,000 FOR $7000.
Clearly, you never beat on it hard enough to experience the torque steer. I have one of these cars and if you’re not holding onto the steering wheel with both hands at WOT in 1st and 2nd gear it WILL drive your ass right off into the bushes.
It’s torque steer was tame for the power it had.
Floor it off the line and you better be holding on to the wheel. Was a blast to fight against it.
I can imagine I nearly ended up in the ditch with my v6 hitting the entrance ramp too hard 😂
I drive one everyday and this is somewhat true. Definitely not negligible. But it feel confident pushing the car as long as I got both hands on

I have a base model grand price and really want the power of the gxp, but this car is like way different than my base model, like mine is a 2008 but doesn’t have any of the buttons on the steering wheel or the touch screen! I don’t have any screen

I have two LS powered GMs (2006 Sierra 2wd 5.3 and 2006 Tahoe Z71 5.3) and previously owned a 2001 Camaro SS and a 2007 Express AWD. LSs shouldn't use any significant amount of oil. I've never noticed even a quart's difference in 3,000 miles in any of them, the Camaro had 130,000 on it when I sold it, the van 170,000, the truck has 100,000, and the Tahoe has 68,000. That one must be leaky or worn out. LSs are shockingly reliable and trouble free, almost always.
I've been thinking about buying one of these as a first car is it dangerously fast? I've been researching this car for awhile but my parents wouldent let me buy it any suggestions?
Hey Ryan, no the car is not dangerously fast. It is a sporty sedan with a big V8 made to be fast but drivable by everyone who gets behind the wheel. I am buying one very soon as well and for the price, you cant beat it! Hopefully i helped you get your first V8!

I've heard the GXP has a lot of issues with the 4 speed, wasn't really meant to handle all that power.
The transmission was trash in my old 06 v6 base model Grand Prix
I have a 2008 base model with 110K miles and i have had no transmission issues yet

GXP does not stand for G series Xtra Performance. GXP was on the Bonneville, Solstace, Torrent, Grand Prix, G6 and G8. More non G series vehicles. It was simply Pontiacs performance model designation.

I bought mine with blow trans way cheap . Here what did after rebuilding install as big a tran cooler you can fit in front of the Ac condenser also change fluid to dextron 6 full synthetic like Max life . After rebuilding I found the transmission ran around 213f no dam good so I got a large rv transmission cooler in line with the rad cooler and now max at about 180 f after 2 hours instead of 213f without . The synthetic dextron 6 also handles the temp better . I read one should cover the exhaust going over the transmission with header heat wrap planning that next . Love the car get great milage on highway handles way better than my 2004 Grand Prix gt and the brakes are fantastic
