Dude, 6 years later and this video is still paying off! After sifting through tons of vids on TH-cam that all wanted to blather on about wiring - imagine how relieved I was when right out of the gate I hear you say, "there are a million other videos out there talking about wiring, we're not even gonna talk about that". Direct and to the point with EXACTLY the information I was seeking. Wish I could give more hitch-hiking thumbs to you. One hardly seems to do justice to the time you've just saved me. Thank you!

Thanks for posting this! Exactly what I needed to start my custom installation. Haven't put in a stereo since the '70 when all they had were brackets on the sides, lol....

Hope you enjoyed (are still enjoying?) your stereo gift as much as I enjoyed this really helpful and good video. Thank you very much for taking the time to put it together and show a very helpful set of hands-on aspect of stereo installation. This kind of visual, to the point demonstration makes a huge difference in how much time it takes to succeed. Way different than staring at tiny, billion words manual made for 20 different models, etc. Thanks again!

When most people make directions, they leave out the basics. They assume you know XYZ and build on that. Guy: "Yeah, just go up the street..." Me: "So it's a hill?" Guy: "No, when you turn left, just go down the street." Me: "So there is not a hill but I am supposed to go up or down?" Guy and Me simultaneously: "You're an idiot."
You did a fine job and got me started, thanks.

I have a 78 Camaro and I want to use a flip out screen head unit. But as the screen folds out and up it will hit part of the dashboard. So my question is is there like a mounting kit and a plastic molding bracket for around it that will bump the stereo head unit out like 3 inches closer to the driver so that I could use this like I want? If you Google a 78 Camaro dashboard you'll see what I'm talking about like on the dashboard where it would hit somebody please help me direct me to the right video the right product to bring my head unit out about 3 in

Wow! That is really cool. I've got a 2001 dodge ram 1500 and I am real close to picking out a new aftermarket radio to replace the original stereo cassette player in my truck. The left front speaker I'll put is working intermittently inside the radio and it is cheaper to buy a new aftermarket radio than it is to find a radio shop to have them tear into it and fix it. Makes these new radio so cheap why bother replacing the old one when you can get a new one for less than $100? I was real interested in how you separated the tin can from the main radio unit and attached the mounting to the can and then slid the whole unit in and it clicked in the place. I've been looking for a demonstration of that which you provided. Thanks a lot you just made my night.

I didn't bend the things and my stereo slid right in. I stupidly used.. duct tapes to hold it. It lasted a year, and now I'd have to fix it.
Ugh. Can't believe the answer is so simple, yet i didn't know. LOL

I didnt install the clips from my old radio to the new kit so it will snap in place and threw the old radio away already. smh you live and learn. I am just going to rig it up and drill it into the dash like a hillbilly.

I watched you bend the tabs in, but it is not clear *how* the tabs work. (What they 'push' against etc.). I wish you had shown the back side, so we could see more clearly what was going on. Otherwise, good video! - Thanks

The hole in my dash is too wide. Where my truck had an old knob radio. (internet Example: photobucket.com/gallery/user/maytag906/media/bWVkaWFJZDo2OTMwMDU4Mw==/?ref=) , the excess plastic was cut away with a jig saw.
