Is God's Law For Today?

  • In this video, Pastor Jeff Durbin of Apologia Church teaching on the relationship between the Christian and the Law of God. Many people abuse the Law of God by falsely teaching that it can be used (in any way) as a means of getting justified before God. This is false and is refuted by Scripture. However, on the other end of the spectrum, there are those who teach that because we are saved by faith alone in Christ alone that the Law of God is irrelevant under the New Covenant. What does the Bible teach? This is Part 2 of Jeff's message on this.

    ☆ THANK YOU ☆
I am so so thankful for this clear coherent teaching about the place of the law!
I have just come out of the hypergrace movement and was being accused of being legalistic because I believe in the law having a place in our christian walk and I rejected lawlessness. I was told I was wrong and belittled for desiring holiness and questioning why others were left in such poor character while I was desperate for growth in my own character.
I have been looking for answers about the law of God and this is a timely find for me in my walk right now and forever!!

This is more than amazing for me. My father taught grace in the Christian life for nearly 30 years…I want to say I know grace. But it can get confusing. My dad wanted to free people from the bondage of law, but he also loved God’s law. My father is with the Lord so my husband and I are here to flesh these things out on our own. Any leftover confusion about where the law fits in, in the New Covenant, has been settled with this lesson. I do not know you Jeff, but brother, thank you for this lesson.

@@rlfoxjr ~ The whole narrative of the bible is based on Faith and obedience...through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations,
      Romans 1:5 ESV
The law never saves, it was never put in place to, but to live a righteous life God commands us to live. By Faith through grace alone in Jesus for salvation is the root, obedience is the fruit because we are saved. We are called to LIVE a holy life demonstrating the redemptive transformation of Jesus in us and us abiding in him. God's Law is righteous, truth, life, freedom and is defined for us, it's self interpreted with no misunderstanding, HOW to live that Holy, righteous manifested change, by the Holy Spirit's power giving us the "want to" and the "power to" accomplish it, bringging glory to the Father.
It's by no other's self defined self righteous standard as to what that looks like. No one can argue what walking in righteousness looks like, Jesus is our example to follow and other books of the bible support obeying the commandments if we love God. True Faith is always unto obedience. Christian's die daily to live as Christ.

@@rlfoxjr ~I believe the word of God, as I hope you do too, as we are all seekers. This about sums it up: the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Then what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By a law of works? No, but by the law of faith. For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law. Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, since God is one-who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith. Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law.

There seem to be a significant number of "Hebrew Roots" followers in the comments believing Jeff is singing their anthem song. If I may, let me call out a couple thoughts that seem to be confusing in the delivery of these messages. You are NOT under the law. Every demand of the law is a demand now placed on and fulfilled by Christ for those who are alive IN HIM. The law (and the OT) help us understand OUR sin and HIS holiness, OUR failure and HIS perfection, OUR death in sin and HIS plan for redemption and new life through His son Jesus Christ. With discernment, it also helps us gain wisdom and form right action. What then is required of us dear brothers? To believe in the one whom He sent. In response to this freedom how then should we live? Jeff said it about a hundred times throughout these two messages. Matt 22:37-39. What do we not need to do? (Unless personally convicted by the Holy Spirit) You do not need tassels on your garments, you do not need to worship on a particular day, you do not need to observe feasts or diets or dates, either to please God or to add to your salvation. Christ both forever earned your salvation and forever satisfied the demands of God's law for those who believe. Does that mean the OT is irrelevant? Absolutely not, as mentioned earlier it useful for all things (2 Tim 3:16), it was our guardian until Christ. Learn from it, gain wisdom and insight, but live for and in Christ, not the law!

God is no longer using the 12 tribes as an example to the surrounding pagan nations, Jesus' work on the cross now stands-in as the model to be observed - by doing so Jesus both loved God (Obeyed the Father for 33 years perfectly up to and including death on a cross) and loved us, the God/man being our "neighbor" per se, giving His life for our salvation.

The civil laws are moral laws, and every single civil law is an application of the Ten Commandments. It is not sufficient to simple believe good Christians shouldn’t murder, but then believe it doesn’t matter if murderers are punished or not by the state government. A state that does not punish murder is immoral, and believing God does not command state governments to punish murder is immoral as well.

    • @Stormvetprime01
      @Stormvetprime01 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@IAmisMaster You are correct about civil law needing to be applied, it is my failure to better represent the abrogation of Christ I intoned. Apologies. Your sentiment and sense of civil code is spot on. Let me unpack what I meant using the term "ancient", which was key.
You will recall the Scripture where Christ told the Apostles the stones of the Temple they were so admiring would fall. That abrogation happened in 70 AD when Christ's sovereign intent resulted in the destruction of "ancient Israel" (meaning NOT the Israel that re-emerged in 1948) by the Romans.
Thus as He destroyed ancient Israel and the Jewish people were disbursed to many other lands, the ANCIENT civil law ceased to exist and function, as ancient Israeli government perished.
The MORAL law is "Thou shalt not murder" or "Thou shalt not steal" - the CIVIL law (ancient or in force today) is "...therefore since you did that, the punishment is XYZ" All the moral law does is produce God's view of right or wrong - not what's to be done by Man about it. God's opinion gives us a basis for civil action, but that action is of Man, not God. God says He retains the right of perfect vengeance - we merely get the right of societal self-defense, which is civil.

Any pastors who imposed the requirement of the modern day interpretation of tithing (giving 10% of your gross income to the church) do not understand the relationship of the OT laws and the grace of God. Calvin never expounded on the subject of tithing nor required it when he ruled Theocratic Geneva and Luther was very much against it. During the Council of Jerusalem the Apostles ruled the Gentile converts need not be circumcised in order to serve as sign that they would follow the laws of Moses (in which paying of tithes is one of the major requirements for the whole Mosaic system to operate). The only minimum requirement imposed on them is not to engage in sexual immorality and the eating foods sacrificed to idols. Christ's body was crucified together with the law. Biblical Tithing is never money but the produce of the land in the Promised Land and the increase in the herds in the Promised Land to be paid to the Levites who were given no land inheritance in Israel but dedicated to the service of God and the people. Money is never accepted as tithes in the OT. With the destruction of the temple and the end of the Mosaic Age Christianity has been funded by FREE WILL GIVING among its members.
No Apostles teach tithes as a requirement of Christ but encouraged members to give freely ad God will reward them for their giving. Requiring tithing is contrary to the gospel of the free saving grace of God. If tithing is required then it would turn out that this "free gift" is nothing but a charade with strings attached.
Requiring payment of tithes or tithing as requisite or fruits of salvation is the hallmark of every false church and teacher. They preach only for the money it would bring them. John MacArthur has an excellent video on the topic of tithing and I accept it as the most sound biblical teaching about tithing in comparison with free will giving.

I agree with everything said however in my own pondering there has always been one particular story in the New Testament that seems out of place or difficult to interpret within the framework you spoke of.
The record of Jesus and the adulteress has Jesus exposing sinners who wanted to apply the justice of the law (death), and Jesus getting her off. Yes he told her to sin no more so he wasn’t accepting her sinfulness but as Christians is this an example for us to follow in terms of mercy/grace to criminals or something else?
Please explain your rationale on how you deal with this particular story.

    • @littlesparrow3519

Randy Couture - thanks for sharing your thoughts. I get what you are saying but doesn’t that mean you have to read a lot into the text that isn’t there? Couldn’t somebody equally propose that the trial had already finished and they just wanted a second opinion before giving her the just punishment?
I agree that it feels like a rushed kangaroo hearing to test Jesus. In that sense, he was not an appointed judge and could have just said, “put her on trial, “ no? The current oral evidence was that she was caught in the act! That could have been a false witness, and she may have been raped, but it’s just such a strange / weird story that seems so out of place. I wish we knew what he was writing/drawing as that would have cleared up the ambiguity.
Apparently when hearing such accusations, the priest was required to stoop down and write the law that had been broken, along with the names of the accused, in the dust of the floor of the Temple. So Jesus could have been doing this to show that he was going to follow the law to the letter as they had already breached legal proceedings by not bringing the husband nor the witnesses.
He then exposed their hypocrisy and interestingly some say it was to fulfil a prophecy found in a verse in Jeremiah:
O LORD, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters (Jeremiah 17:13)
In any case, as there were no witnesses left at the end and the law had not been followed, I don’t suppose Jesus could have legally condemned her? But he knew it was true, so he called her to repentance, commanding her to stop sinning.
Well, that’s my current position taking into consideration what you’ve said. Thanks brother.

    • @littlesparrow3519
      @littlesparrow3519 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Jon Eaton - we have to assume that they weren’t there because they weren’t mentioned but the text itself does not make this point. It could have said “seeing that the husband and witnesses were not present and couldn’t be questioned, Jesus did/said ...” We are left with a “most probable” interpretation but we cannot be completely confident given this passage. As this story appears to have been added at a later date, it was perhaps not of John’s hand but something passed down orally until added to the text. This might be why it appears to miss specific details like what Jesus wrote in the dust. So a true story, but not having all the first hand eye witness detail to make sense of it confidently.
As I said, it’s the only text that could seem at odds with Jeff’s overall approach.

It was a test to trap Christ to override the Romans authority in condemning a person to death, the law said both partner should be put to death but where was the man? It also said the first witness was to cast the first stone, if Christ had administrate the law then he would've break the law, so by giving place to the person who was without sin or hypocrisy, he level the field, you see if a false witness was found out in this regard they were to be stoned as well, so by him saying you without sin cast the first stone, was his way of pointing out the hypocrisy and error of their ways, and their case had no validation, Jesus actually kept the law in this regard, he didn't override it or break it.
I pray by the grace of God these words was for edification.

John 7:53 to 8:11 is not God-breathed Scripture, because it doesn't show up in any ancient and reliable manuscripts of John's gospel until many hundreds of years later. As one New Testament scholar put it "it's my favorite story that's not in the Bible."
So I would suggest reading it much like you would read the Apocrypha, casually, not trying to exegete doctrine from it.

How do you know the difference between what parts of the old testament we have to keep and what parts were their customs (law of men)? I know that in Leviticus I believe it is talking about their rituals laws (like men can shave the sides of their heads, or wear two different fabrics). In the same book it talks about how divination is forbidden. I am a recently converted Christian but have been a professional Tarot reader for over 20 years. I know Christianity says it is wrong, but how do I know that wasn't one of their rituals laws along with cutting the sides of your hair?

Tara, I'm glad you are a new Christian. Jeff's sermon is very difficult even for long-time Christians, but there are ways to determine what laws from the Old Testament still carry forward and which are just for ancient Israel. Most importantly I want to say the New Testament also states witchcraft/sorcery/magick is a sin in very clear and harsh terms, and the New Testament is universally considered God's instructions for Jesus followers.
      Galatians 5:19-21 (NKJV)
"Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God."
      Revelation 21:8
But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars-they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.
Keep in mind the Biblical understanding of magic/witchcraft is that you are performing these things by actual spiritual powers. They are the converse of miracles, but performed by demons. Jesus was accused of performing witchcraft by his enemies. Read Jesus' explanation in Luke 11:14-28 of why he performs miracles by God's power to directly drive out these demons that perform magic, because God's power is greater.

As Jeff said, the general equity is still there and hasn’t been negated. Paul in the NT also tells women not to overly adorn themselves (focus on the outside) but to let their good works and Christlike character be the thing they present most to the outside world.
However in your specific case I think it has already been clearly answered from scripture Old and New it is a sin. There is also a direct command from Jesus not to worry about tomorrow. What is divination or tarot if it is not trying to find out hidden things. Instead you should focus on loving God and others in the now. This is the best use of your time.

I love your work brother. I disagree on the idea that some of the law is different. The sacrifices will continue again in the millennial kingdom as written by the prophets. I do believe that all of the law should be followed as we are able. Paul continues to give sacrifices after accepting Christ and continues keeping Shabbat and kosher according to the Word (not the Talmud).

@@aloe83 absolutely brother. It's a bit long but it's from acts chapter 21. Paul completes what's known as the Nazarite vow from numbers 6:1-21
"When we had come to Jerusalem, the brothers received us gladly. On the following day Paul went in with us to James, and all the elders were present. After greeting them, he related one by one the things that God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry. And when they heard it, they glorified God. And they said to him, "You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed. They are all zealous for the law, and they have been told about you that you teach all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or walk according to our customs. What then is to be done? They will certainly hear that you have come. Do therefore what we tell you. We have four men who are under a vow; take these men and purify yourself along with them and pay their expenses, so that they may shave their heads. Thus all will know that there is nothing in what they have been told about you, but that you yourself also live in observance of the law. Then Paul took the men, and the next day he purified himself along with them and went into the temple, giving notice when the days of purification would be fulfilled and the offering presented for each one of them."
      Acts 21:17‭-‬24‭, ‬26 ESV
Here it clearly states that some said that Paul taught against the Law, so he and the other apostles wanted to have an example to prove that that was not correct. A Nazarite vow requires many animals to be sacrificed along with some grain and wine. Paul not only paid for his but for four others as well.
This also proves that Paul continue to keep the laws of God written in the Torah and taught them to others. Not to keep the law for salvation, but to keep the law because we have been saved and are now a part of the kingdom of Israel.

Paul made ONE sacrifice to prove he was not demanding Jews stop observing law. Seriously, sacrifices were at minimum annual, and Paul travelled on missionary journeys for years. He also yelled at Peter for being hypocritical, and stopping eating with Gentiles when the Jews came. Both Peter and Paul understood Jesus as the fulfillment of law. Morality was before the law, or else God could not send the flood (and many other punishments for violating moral laws). Please run from Hebrew Roots! The only way they can justify their theology is to entirely reinterpret Romans and Galatians. Reread those epistles without any commentary and it will be clear.

Just saying there were two cleansings doesn’t work because John leaves out the latter cleansing while the others leave out the former. @Jack Tapley not at all, I do not condone people who follow Ellen White , however when I remove myself from tradition and simply let the text interpret itself, it would seem sin is simply transgression of the law, therefore the next step is simply to know what laws apply, I can find no solid proof of The sabbath day being nullified, people use portions of scripture regarding holy days, but that is not a reference to the sabbath but to manmade days , traditions of men, new moon festivals and angel worship .. The Sabbath is still to be held, along with the law of God that remains.
Ordinances, ceremonial may have been nailed to the cross but The ten commandments are certainly eternal as our Sexual laws and many others .

When Christ came, he fulfilled the law completely which means we are under no obligation to follow it. HOWEVER, Christ came and brought the law of Christ and with his death and resurrection and ascension, gave us the Holy Spirit. This doesn’t mean we should ignore the Holy Law and not use it as a means to live Holy. But we aren’t judged by it. Christ talks about loving God and loving others, and Paul goes on in his letters about other law following matters. If we start picking apart Torah and following it as a means to be seen right before God, we completely negate what Jesus did on the cross. If we really believe He did what He did and that He was who He says He is, we follow the law of Christ and let the Holy Spirit use the word of God to guide us in righteousness.

      1) Even though we are saved by faith, do you agree as Christians we are called to obey Jesus to show we love Him and others? For example, when Jesus says to not divorce your spouse but for adultery, or when Jesus says to forgive one another, or make disciples and baptize them, is that an option for us Christians same as the clothes we chose to wear, or is there an obedience factor?
      2) Do you agree God still cares about our worldly governments having just laws? For example, if your country passed a law making it legal to genocide an innocent group of people on the spot (like the law against the Jews in the book of Esther), do you think God is concerned enough to want us to do something about opposing that law?

The Messiah will reign as high priest and king for 1,000 years on Earth when he returns, after the order of Melchezadek with the chosen , and under them will be the re-established Levitical Priesthood.
Then shall Yahweh go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east .... And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, Yahweh of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of Elohim and of Messiah and shall reign with him a thousand years.
Ezekiel 44:9 saith Yahweh Elohim; No stranger, uncircumcised in heart, nor uncircumcised in flesh, shall enter into my sanctuary, of any stranger that is among the children of Israel. 10 And the Levites that are gone away far from me, when Israel went astray, which went astray away from me after their idols; they shall even bear their iniquity. 11 Yet they shall be ministers in my sanctuary, having charge at the gates of the house, and ministering to the house: they shall slay the burnt offering and the sacrifice for the people, and they shall stand before them to minister unto them...
Here we clearly see the Melchizedek priesthood and the Levitical priesthoods on Earth.
      Shalom/Peace

We are now under the New Covenant, not for our salvation, but for our conduct.
There are two different sets of commandments in John 15:10.
We must let the Old Covenant die, if we are going to let the New Covenant live.
Christ contrasts the Old Covenant with the higher standard of the New Covenant with the words “But I say…”.
Mat 5:21 "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'YOU SHALL NOT MURDER, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.'
Mat 5:22 But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, 'Raca!' shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, 'You fool!' shall be in danger of hell fire.
Mat 5:23 Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you,
Mat 5:24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
Mat 5:25 Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him, lest your adversary deliver you to the judge, the judge hand you over to the officer, and you be thrown into prison.
Mat 5:26 Assuredly, I say to you, you will by no means get out of there till you have paid the last penny.
Mat 5:27 "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY.'
Mat 5:28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Mat 5:29 If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.
Mat 5:30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.
Mat 5:31 "Furthermore it has been said, 'Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.'
Mat 5:32 But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except sexual immorality causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who is divorced commits adultery.
Mat 5:33 "Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.'
    Mat 5:34 But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God's throne;
Mat 5:35 nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
Mat 5:36 Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black.
Mat 5:37 But let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No.' For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.
Mat 5:38 "You have heard that it was said, 'AN EYE FOR AN EYE AND A TOOTH FOR A TOOTH.'
Mat 5:39 But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.
Mat 5:40 If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also.
Mat 5:41 And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.
Mat 5:42 Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away.
Mat 5:43 "You have heard that it was said, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR and hate your enemy.'
Mat 5:44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,
Mat 5:45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
Mat 5:46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?
Mat 5:47 And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so?
Mat 5:48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
Confirmation of the contrast between the Old Covenant and New Covenant is found below.
2Co 3:6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
2Co 3:7 But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away,
2Co 3:8 how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious?
Gal 4:24 which things are symbolic. For these are the two covenants: the one from Mount Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar-
Gal 4:25 for this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children-
Gal 4:26 but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all.
Gal 4:27 For it is written: "REJOICE, O BARREN, YOU WHO DO NOT BEAR! BREAK FORTH AND SHOUT, YOU WHO ARE NOT IN LABOR! FOR THE DESOLATE HAS MANY MORE CHILDREN THAN SHE WHO HAS A HUSBAND."
Gal 4:28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise.
Gal 4:29 But, as he who was born according to the flesh then persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, even so it is now.
Gal 4:30 Nevertheless what does the Scripture say? "CAST OUT THE BONDWOMAN AND HER SON, FOR THE SON OF THE BONDWOMAN SHALL NOT BE HEIR WITH THE SON OF THE FREEWOMAN."
Gal 4:31 So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman but of the free.
(Why did Paul compel the Galatian believers to “cast out” the Sinai Covenant of “bondage”?)
Heb 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, of necessity there is also a change of the law.
Heb 8:6 But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.
Heb 8:7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second.
Heb 8:8 Because finding fault with them, He says: "BEHOLD, THE DAYS ARE COMING, SAYS THE LORD, WHEN I WILL MAKE A NEW COVENANT WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AND WITH THE HOUSE OF JUDAH-
Heb 8:9 NOT ACCORDING TO THE COVENANT THAT I MADE WITH THEIR FATHERS IN THE DAY WHEN I TOOK THEM BY THE HAND TO LEAD THEM OUT OF THE LAND OF EGYPT; BECAUSE THEY DID NOT CONTINUE IN MY COVENANT, AND I DISREGARDED THEM, SAYS THE LORD.
Heb 8:10 FOR THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD: I WILL PUT MY LAWS IN THEIR MIND AND WRITE THEM ON THEIR HEARTS; AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.
Heb 8:11 NONE OF THEM SHALL TEACH HIS NEIGHBOR, AND NONE HIS BROTHER, SAYING, 'KNOW THE LORD,' FOR ALL SHALL KNOW ME, FROM THE LEAST OF THEM TO THE GREATEST OF THEM.
Heb 8:12 FOR I WILL BE MERCIFUL TO THEIR UNRIGHTEOUSNESS, AND THEIR SINS AND THEIR LAWLESS DEEDS I WILL REMEMBER NO MORE."
Heb 8:13 In that He says, "A NEW COVENANT," He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.
Heb 12:18 For you have not come to the mountain that may be touched and that burned with fire, and to blackness and darkness and tempest, (Mount Sinai)
Heb 12:19 and the sound of a trumpet and the voice of words, so that those who heard it begged that the word should not be spoken to them anymore.
Heb 12:20 (For they could not endure what was commanded: "AND IF SO MUCH AS A BEAST TOUCHES THE MOUNTAIN, IT SHALL BE STONED OR SHOT WITH AN ARROW."
Heb 12:21 And so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, "I AM EXCEEDINGLY AFRAID AND TREMBLING.")
Heb 12:22 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels,
Heb 12:23 to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect,
Heb 12:24 to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.
In Galatians 3:16-29 the Apostle Paul reveals the law was “added” 430 years “after” the promise made to Abraham “until” the seed (Christ) could come to whom the promise was made.

This speaker did not listen to the apostle Peter in 2 Peter 3:15-16 , when he said that Paul's writings are sometimes hard to be understood . In Romans 3:27-28 , Paul statement was : (27. ) Where is boasting then ? It is excluded . By what law ? of works ? Nay : but by the law of faith . ( 28. ) Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law . Question , what does it means to be justified ? Answer , to be forgiven or redeemed from your past sins . This is the key , Paul uses law throughout the books of the gospel , but did you know that there are three kinds of laws in the bibles pertaining to the God of Israel ? 1. The law of the Father ; which are his laws , commandments , instructions ; which includes all covenants he gave man from Adam to the white throne judgment ; 2. The law God the Father gave through the mediator Moses , under the priesthood of Leviticus for sin ; the blood of the animals and oblations through works ; for the earthly body , to keep from killing the one's who had transgressed his laws , and refused to repent by faith ; and 3. The law God the Father gave through the mediator Jesus Christ , under the priesthood of Melchisedec for sin ; the blood of Christ through faith ; for the earthly and heavenly bodies ; to free them from the transgressions of the laws of the Father's . Paul is saying in Romans 3:27 , the boasting is not in the law of works ( blood of the animals and oblations through works ) , but in the law of faith ( blood of Christ through faith ) . In Romans 3:28 Paul says that a man is justified by faith ( blood of Christ through faith ) , without the deeds of the law ( blood of the animals and oblations through works ) . To understand that law Paul is talking about in his writings , you must understand the context in which he is using it . To redeem you from sin requires a sin sacrifice of works ( for the earthly body ) , or a sin sacrifice of faith ( for the earthly and heavenly bodies ) . The laws of God is what put you in sin ; but to redeem or forgive you requires a sin sacrifice law through the mediators ( Moses or Jesus ) , under a priesthood ( Leviticus or Melchisedec ) . Shalom !

I've heard this open before in various ways: "...in 2 Peter 3:15-16 , it's alleged that Paul's writings are sometimes hard to be understood ..." which then invariably goes on to be an anti-Pauline rant.
FACT: Paul is an APOSTLE and everything he wrote is THEOPNEUSTOS (God-breathed) and is the actual Word of God. Not optional. Not second to and below other words therein. Full-tilt Word of God.

@@Stormvetprime01 If you are saying that my comments about Peter , saying that Paul's writing are sometimes hard to be understood , means that Paul is not an apostle of Christ, you are 100 % wrong . By stating what you did , gives the impression that I may believe this . In Romans 2:28 , Paul is talking about the two laws for atonement of sin , once you have transgressed against the law of the Father ( law of faith through the mediator Jesus , and the law of works through the mediator Moses ) . Shalom !

What true Christian says "law is void", like we have a free out? You put up a false straw man to justify your teaching. When God, by His grace, and our faith, brings us into the body of Christ, Jesus himself is our head. And we have the indwelling Holy Spirit to lead us in righteousness and in our lives. OT rituals and rules are powerless by comparison. Your mix of OT laws and New Covenant is confusing and divisive teaching, especially for new believers. Don't know if you are in Hebrew Root movement? Hopefully not.

@@ApologiaStudios ...no it is not, especially to anyone who is still not familiar with, or studied, in the Bible. On one hand you seem to accept God's gift of salvation by faith in what Christ Jesus accomplished on the Cross. Yet on the other hand, you seem to preach that it is also necessary to follow the "laws of God" as some kind of proof we are Christians (?). To God? Or to whom?
If you are not Hebrew Roots, then such teaching could lead someone to that movement. Deliberately doing what we think God wants of us, is doing "works" that are nothing but "dirty rags" to God. It is never the same as being led by the Holy Spirit, to produce fruits (good works), as God wills. No one can force themself to be righteous or "good" or to love. We can only accept the righteousness of Jesus, and the gift of the Holy Spirit, who can lead and teach us in these things, from within. If you have another video that teaches this, I'd appreciate the link.

True Christians have faith in Christ and keep the law jer 31:31 says the new covenant will be his law our heart . Many people will be called least in the kingdom for teaching against the commandments , when Paul said by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified, he meant by the works alone , that why in rom 2:13 he says not the hearers of the law are just before god but the doers of the law , if you have faith in Jesus Christ you can be justified by the works of the law , most people just twist Paul’s letters or don’t understand him Matt 7 Christ will say depart from me ye that work lawlessness

      @tammlen2284 5 ปีที่แล้ว

@@islandlifehawaii1720 ... I'm not a teacher, but if there is one thing I've learned in my studies, is that the Word never contradicts itself. If it seems to do so, it is because I have taken things out of context and need to study more. To believe law-based works in anyway can justify a person in the eyes of God, or can save a person, would refute the bulk of Apostle Paul's teachings. And if there is one thing he stressed time and time again is that no-one can follow God's laws perfectly. And if you can't, you are guilty in God's eyes, no matter what you do, as it says in the OT....
Jas 2:10 YLT "for whoever the whole law shall keep, and shall stumble in one point, he hath become guilty of all; "
.... The written laws were for us to recognize sin. If mankind could have forced himself to follow all the laws, Jesus would not have had to sacrifice Himself. And Jesus says as much...
Mat 5 19 'Whoever therefore may loose one of these commands--the least--and may teach men so, least he shall be called in the reign of the heavens, but whoever may do and may teach them, he shall be called great in the reign of the heavens."
Jesus goes on to say in the next verse that unless your righteousness (based on law) is greater than the scribes or pharisees (the most perfect workers of law at that time), you won't even enter his reign. Period.
In other words, being "least" doesn't worry me, since Jesus is telling us NOBODY can be great, or righteous, since nobody can perfectly do or teach the law. Taken out of context, these verses are easily misunderstood.
As for Romans 2, the verse you cited is of Paul talking about God's judgment. But you need to read the next verses to keep it in context....
14 For, when nations that have not a law, by nature may do the things of the law, these not having a law--to themselves are a law; 15 who do shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also witnessing with them, and between one another the thoughts accusing or else defending,16 in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men, according to my good news, through Jesus Christ.
Paul is not speaking of law-based works, as the Pharisees followed, but of heart-based works that we do in response to the Holy Spirit now dwelling in us, who writes God's laws on our heart and leads us from within to produce "fruit" for God. You know this, as you've said as much. But perhaps you haven't considered when Romans was written. Paul is writing this epistle to believers who also understood the difference in "works" by this time. He was not writing for new believers, who could misconstrue his teaching, as you apparently have, if you think works in anyway justifies us or makes us righteous.
And again, Paul is talking about judgment. And as he teaches in other earlier epistles, heart-based "works" done in response to the change in us, as wrought by the Holy Spirit, will affect the rewards we recieve in the next life. But works are NEVER a basis for salvation, or for any rewards in this life.
So I stand by what I said, and my advice would be to take care not to pick out scripture that supports what you think, rather than what God is saying.
      Peace...
