Due to the unexpected success of the single “Rain and tears”, thanks to the coincidence between its launching in May 1968 and the tear gas deployed for riot control of the civil disorder that took place in Paris during that rainy month, the Greek progressive rock band Aphrodite's Child was invited to record “End of the world”, its debut studio album with psychedelic pop songs and ballads.
