I left my house in Cleveland which is right before you get to the Jet Pep in this video, to go to a safer place in Blountsville on Littleton Rd.We seen the tornado coming and it looked like it had 10 little ones coming out the side of it. We seen a explosion that we guessed was the power station by Page Springs Rd. We headed to the basement. The top of the Tornado funnel was right above the house we was in and the tail was tearing up a 3 story house that was about 1000 ft from where we was, then all we heard was "GROWLING" as it was just eating that house up that had 8 (most of them children) people in it. God was with us that day and the people that was in that house and everyone that was in it's path.Standing there watching Volunteers and neighbors cut away trees to get to those that was trapped. When all those kids walked out to where the ambulance was parked, I just burst into tears. It was like something you would see in a movie, they were like doorstep ages when they came out. That is one day I will never forget!

Hi Denise. Those 10 mini tornadoes coming out of the main funnel are called "horizontal vortices". Those are usually a sign that the tornado is strong or violent , and capable of causing EF-3 to EF-5 level damage. For example, if you watch videos from the same day (April 27, 2011 Super-Outbreak) of the tornado that hit Cullman, AL, and the one that hit Tuscaloosa & Birmingham, you'll see plenty of these horizontal vortices. Both the Cullman, AL & Tuscaloosa, AL tornadoes caused EF-4 level damage.

I was in the shower at about 6 am that morning when the power went out. My wife had just left for work in Birmingham. We found out later that an EF-1 had passed just about 100 yards from our house taking down many trees and power lines and blocking State Highway 75 in front of our house. As the day progressed we got scattered reports of other storms via the car radio. In the afternoon, my daughters, grand daughters and I stood in our front yard and watched debris frying around in all directions. My wife was able to get home that evening by alternate routes before the storms hit Birmingham. I didn't hear of this particular tornado until after the fact and I live less than 10 miles away.

I remember when it was 27 cents a gallon..and they pumped it!..and checked the oil and washed the windows and checked the tire pressure and gave you a Bicentennial mug each fill up! After that, you would get a towel set with 3 fill ups. All at no extra cost. Times have changed a little.

too bad you didnt stay on hwy 231 through the town of Blountsville. Epic vid, though. great job. My property was very close to the damage path but I was not at home to witness it move past us. I would have been scared to death to see or hear that massive thing pass right by.

Why didnt you hear the sirens in cleaveland? or Rosa? ... theres sirens everywhere around there..

    • @vr6swp
      @vr6swp 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

The early line of storms (4 - 5am) took out the power grid and communications for a lot of areas. Good chance the sirens weren't working, either because of no power or the activation signals not getting through. We had multiple warnings in Huntsville, but no sirens after about 4pm.

I waisted all of that time thinking I was going to see something cool... It was like going to a restaurant and finding out after I order that there's no food left.

How the tree fell when this recording started on the exploring near the tornadoes path and where they were at when it started & you can tell they were behind it as its in gear crunching every thing in its F5 path moving away from them. If there was ever a place to be, these fellas are there. I'm not sure, Alabama? April 2011 Yup. May this share be dedicated to the Recovery of This Day & The Eternal Comfort of Our LORD already with them. Consider this situation, dont hesitate, if you close, your Right to Rescue Mode. In coop with the Local Rescue Safety Procedures , 1st responders. The path of this is clear and from your location, this sucker got a fast start, as far as A paths speed, direction, time and distance start to finish. By the time these Fellas near the storm realized there was no catching up, (lol) sort of, they were not going to be able to, the damage began already and to this angles left. So for whatever more reason to follow these deadly powerful phenoms "goodbye non-sense! Not everything is the same, some people are being dumb but for the most part, most of the people are trying to get to loved ones they have no way of contacting since even the cellphones were useless for weeks. . For almost five days, I thought my friends in Cordova area, must be dead. I was shocked and Happy at the same time!
