Jesus is the only way. We have all sinned and deserve Hell. Sins that may seem small in our eyes are big in God's and are worthy of Hell, such as lying lusting and stealing. But if we repent and trust only in Jesus, he is faithful and will save us from Hell and give us eternal life in Heaven. Trust in Jesus!

Kind of late coming across this video, but thank you so much for posting it. In November 2011, there was a tornado less than 3 miles from my house. I stepped outside and could hear it in the distance. Your video is the first time I've accurately heard the same roaring, rumbling sound I heard that evening, plus that severe, seemingly nonstop thunder. I've watched hundreds of videos and none came close till yours. When the power flickered off, back on, then off and on again I ordered everyone to shelter. Fortunately, it missed us...unfortunately there were numerous homes destroyed and two fatalities. It was one of the last times my dad, who had dementia, said anything coherent. He sat bolt upright on the couch, looked me right in the eye and said, "That storm there means business, girl." Then lapsed back into his illness-induced state of being, well, lost. This was in North Carolina, if anyone wants to look it up. I don't remember the precise date. I just remember my dad speaking to me; he passed away two months later. I was 36 at the time.

That’s freaky. Your dad got dementia and still knew that storm was a mean one crazy. I’ve had a narrow 3 mile miss by a tornado too. Earlier this year. But my phone didn’t go off and I had no warning. So I slept through it. Nobody died but there was a little bit of damage and a handful of hospitalizations. And they still call it a tragedy. That storm wasn’t serious. If it was it would’ve been way worse. We just gotta wait until a monster comes along.

The power went out and the only warning we had was a severe thunderstorm warning on our phones. The floor began shaking, and the lightning was continuous. I’ve never seen anything like it before or since then. It was terrifying, but the tornado only came within a mile of us. It traveled 30 miles, killed 3 people in extremely expensive, well-built houses by lifting one off its foundation and smashing it down on a neighboring house. Most of the time after that, it traveled through swampland.

This is a great video. I really appreciate the "long shot" leading up to, during, and after the tornado. There aren't many videos like this out there, showing how strangely calm everything is leading up to the actual tornado. I've heard people talk about the calm before the storm, but I didn't realize _how_ still it was until seeing this video. Crazy how there is virtually no wind and only a couple patters of rain for the majority of the video--if I saw a day like that, my thought would be that it would be a lazy, hazy, quiet day (if it weren't for the brilliant reporting of James Spann as depicted in Kim Cross's book). Glad everyone is okay, and thanks for sharing your experience of this historic day.

Did you notice how the thunder sounded like distant cannon shots? That was the thing I noticed back in 1974 when I awoke at 5:35 A.M. when the F5 was coming toward our house. That was one of the most unusual sounds, and it's one thing I tell people. If you don't hear the roar, but you hear short, cannon-like booms of thunder in the distance, that most likely means that the tornado is coming your way, and you've got 5 minutes maybe to get downstairs into the basement. They were very fortunate that they got out of the way when that roar was right on top of them. It sounds like a jet airplane.
Oh, by the way, just in case you wonder what date my tornado experience happened, it was April 4th in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

So crazy, thats the first video i can recall where it sounded like the train i’ve always heard talk about..
Several storm chasers seem to say that “ppl say that because as the nader approaches you hear the “click-clack” of debris hitting the house”” but no.. No! Its because as a nader hits, it pushes air so forcefully through any gap it can find, that it actually creates a melodic, freight train whistle sound! That along with the general roar of the thing, and you got yourself a freight train practically hitting your house.. Unreal. And terrifying!

Wonderful attitude to have "We re-built, nobody got badly hurt." That really the way to land on both feet after such an experience. I also love how thinking about the dog and the neighbours were the first thing on your minds. We don't have tornados here on the Svalbards. We have ice storms but they're like an everyday thing and then we have avalanches and ice breaking off glaciers and icebergs creating rogue waves. But we never have our homes or the surrounding settlement endangered in any way. Ive always wondered how people coped with living such places as central USA and I guess I always assumed that it would be scary to live with the risk of tornados. But it seems that you simply accept whats coming at you, brace yourselves, make sure you're okay and then rebuilt.

    • @jrodowens
      @jrodowens 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

And the reality is that many folks like myself who live within - and in my case, close to a 'beating heart' of the tornado alleys (there are at least two large-scale tornado zones, and frankly several with even more probable alleys-within-alleys, one might say).. that despite living in north-central Texas for the first 33 years of my life, I have never seen an actual tornado. I've seen plenty of rotating supercells, tornado-warned storms and one lowering/funnel - but no confirmed tornadoes.
Violent, significant tornadoes have destroyed portions of my city on two separate occasions, but both occurred before I was born. Many people here at the time never saw one or both, let alone have to survive them (the physical impact, that is) and deal with the recovery aspect. That is merely to say that the geographic area is so vast, and tornadoes present such a concentrated & rare danger, overall. Thought you might be curious as to a resident's perspective..
.. btw, I had no idea that the Svalbards had much - or any - permanent settlements and communities! I suppose its just b/c the archipelago is only ever discussed in the United States as a place for Arctic research. I mean, you may not have tornadoes but you guys are infested with polar bears right? (I kid, of course)

sorry if that sounded ignorant..I have been in a tornado as well..I had to hide in the basement against the cellar door and I remember that roar..damn that roar. and it was only a F2. I know this was awhile ago, but I am glad you guys and your dog were okay and my heart went out to everyone who was hit that year. x

I think it was awful that forgot about poor max, they had plenty of time to take him in the basement too. My cats would go with me with any hesitation because Miss Kitty and Bayo are like my children.

Was that noise (at the start of this video) someone packing down cigs?

Yep. My husband smokes and he does that with his cigarettes. I know that sound anywhere. 😂

Scarier than any horror movie. The buildup was unsettling.

I had always suspected this was the same tornado that hit Ohatchee that day, and I looked up the tornado track, and sure enough it was. The Calhoun county tornado had been on the ground for two hours when it hit Ohatchee, and the extended track confirms it. What a monster!

It doesn't matte rhow many times I watch this but the anticipation gets me everytime! Are these guys the ones that rescued their neighbor but the little girl was already gone? The reason I ask is the ones that did said 'dude' a lot too... I'm not trying to be rude. It's just an identifier...

This is a really great video, I’ve watched it several times! However, this is the first time I have noticed around 30:46-30:49, the door at the end of the hall opens and slams shut after they came back down the hall..it’s probably the wind, but still creepy.

WOW! Amazing! The tornado is just moving away, you can still hear it. Their house almost destroyed, jusr missed by the Tornado, and they are moving around, rying to figure out what to do. Total destruction, and they just barely missed getting hit head on by a strong EF4 Tornado. Lucky to have survived. Glad you made it through ok. You are strong people. Hold onto that strength.

27:41 "I see Max. He's ok." And I agree, take the dog with you for God's sake and don't stare at tornado debris coming your way until the dang thing is on top of you.

You are lucky it didn't go directly over your house as the house would be ripped off it's foundations and there wouldn't be any trees still standing and full of leaves. That was a violent high end EF4 with winds of 190mph.

Thanks for this video guys. Never been in a tornado. My mind goes to survival, not the after it's gone. I never mentally planned about leaving a building with all the trees down, shows you how unprepared I am.
