    So how come the settings need altering after the plate has been replaced? Aren't the settings the same as before? Im doing one of these in a few days so just doing my research.

    Bit late to the party, love your vids. Just interested in what the bearing plate is there for? Would assume it's like a non return valve but can't see how one that has come apart would cause a lock out unless it was there as part of the burner mix.

    Was I seeing things or was the bearing plate already incorrectly installed when you took it off? 3 Plastic dowl pins were not aligned into the plate or was this due to TV magic?

      caerleon9176 yes I thought the same 👍

    The cause is easy to see, the plate wasn't fitted correctly in the first place - 1.26 you see the butterfly alignment tabs are not correctly inserted in the plate, due to this it would require more air pressure to push them back, than if they were properly aligned - when you re-insert it, the pins are correctly aligned. The root cause is an initial incorrect assembly or the last person to work on it!

    Last winter it packed up, no heating or hot water, oddjob attended 2 days late and couldn't get it started he then told my landlord it needed replacing! 900 quid...in 3 weeks time as the parts are no longer made for a 4yr old boiler! WTF! I found the cause, was due to lack of service by the landlord, the condense trap blocked and caused a water backflush and leak inside where the gas solenoid sites next to the plate (junior 28i), filled with water - clear to me as an Engineer this was the cause and easily fixed. He gave up and all I did was blow the water from the connection and it worked! Been working ever since. He hasn't been back since! I know that there are now more 'plumbers' in this country due to our EU workers, but Jesus where's the pride in your job and all attempts to resolve by simple deduction just to get some profit!

    Hi, what possible issues could be, boiler was off for a while and now getting EA error code when open hot waterin the bath. Other taps seems OK. Looks like it's struggle to heat up water.

    Why did you not just take off the burner head to get to the bearing. No gas connections to disturb and also a part normally removed when serviced

    Agree with other comments! Worchester are overly complicated & not half as good as people or Which magazine think! Better boilers out there for almost half the price

      In 42 years I have to say Worcester are my most reliable, don't touch Italian or French as they are poor and have a excellent trade in repairing anything beginning with V

    Another great video, why do you alter the fan speed setting ? Also best thing to clean out the main WB5 heat exchanger as the brush and scraper are not that good, coke or bicarbonate of soda ? Thanks 😎

    Why not undo the burner from top end rather than mess with gas valve.

    • @shilks8773
      @shilks8773 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Then with the Manifold removed - the burner could also be given a quick clean.

    • @kevint3845
      @kevint3845 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John Alderweild that is the official way ie undo burner from the top, you do need to get a new burner joint as well

      I magine then you'd have to do a full service and Geoffrey was showing attacking fault from another angle.
      I'd of removed top seal etc.
      Don't know why settings had to be changed? Presume was checking but altering to his preferred settings 🤔

    Over complicated boilers and unessasary. Just means Worcester get the call when the engineer gives up and can charge the customer nearly £300. Great video but would prefer verbal explanation of what u are doing instead of daft music

      Hi, theres nothing wrong with the engineering of these boilers, I would say you're probably better off flipping burgers if that's not too taxing on your brain, also you should learn some manners 👍
