Thx for this video. One thing people need to understand is that there is other dual boiler heating so fast and consuming less energy. And you can also switch the steam boiler entirely. The plastic parts are actually a great idea because heat transfer is the biggest issue on E61 groups. Also its easier to clean. The only annoying thing to me is you have too little clearance for the PF and no Volumetric. At this pricepoint…
Good video except the defensive response to a totally valid point about clearance of spouts. Just say that’s how we make it compact in design, it still works but with a small adjustment in workflow.
Defensive? I acknowledged Martin's point and explained why it may matter to some and not to others, e.g., if you use a bottomless portafilter. We'll return to this point in the next video comparing the La Marzocco Linea Micra and the ECM Sychronika.
100% agreed. I felt it was a quick defensive response for a valid point. Immediately after praise followed the machine as if that point had zero weight. Honestly this is a very valid point as a machine at this price point should be able to handle cups beyond a 2 oz espresso shot glass. The type of buyer for this machine most likely has a fancy Acacia Lunar scale that they want to use for the perfect espresso/espresso based coffee. To me this is what turns me away from the machine. I can overlook the oddly shape wand or loss of plumb in option from the Mini... but not the clearance and plastic pf 👎
Must say the plastic pieces on the PF are a horrible idea. In a market where customers want to see as much (preferably shiny) stainless steel and wood, skimping on the PF is a miscalculation. Fortunately it's easy to upgrade and I suspect that customers for this type of machine would likely upgrade even a standard PF eventually with something even nicer. Thoughts?
I hate when people say “Medical Grade” or “Military grade” dude there is nothing special about the plastic or steel we use in healthcare or the ones the military uses. I’ve used plastic items used by laymen that will put plastic shit we use at work to shame.
@@deathkid411 There's no "wrong" answer here, it boils down to preference. The Linea Micra's home-friendly size, speed, and high forgiveness factor are hard to ignore, if you can live with the premium price. In the end, I don't think that I'd choose just one, but would opt for a smaller lever over the Pro 800 if space is limited (e.g., Elektra Microcasa a Leva). If I was regularly serving a crowd, the Pro 800 workflow is wonderful. Here's the Pro 800 at a cars-n-coffee event I worked: th-cam.com/video/JVV2lyr5-a4/w-d-xo.html
@@homebarista ok that makes sense. I think I would go with the pro 800 though. I just got my first machine week ago (elektra micro case leva) and wish I had more water available. Just it’s time to start saving for one of these and keep on learning. O and I love the forum.
Price aside, this machine is a nonstarter for me. No way to control the temperature without the app. The steam wand is too short, the distance from the portafilter to the cap is too small. I am curious if they will change any of that in the future…
The app via Bluetooth is awesome. So much easier to navigate on phone than a tiny lcd screen on most machines. Steam wand is not short…unless you’re doing commercial work and need to steam a big jug. This is a simple machine that makes great espresso time and time again.
@@newpixelsapp depends on your color option. White was 5-6 weeks, so I ordered Stainless on 3/6 and and it was delivered 11 days later on Friday, 3/17.
for the first time I see someone taking the strainer out of the portafilter to fill it 🤦🤦 It's cold and that's not conducive to an espresso. I stopped the video afterwards.🤷
Why is the side of the machine plastic with a bunch of La Marzocco labels? I thought this was meant for home use? That might ultimately be the deciding factor in not getting one. That will look horrible on a kitchen counter top.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. I know Dan's posts from HB and clearly he knows his stuff, but who on earth preps a basket out of the portafilter and then puts in back in??? No scale, no stir of the espresso..🤷♂️
I think all these machines are too expensive. Most dual boilers are 3k. That’s insane. People have allowed them to be that expensive. It’s all the consumers faults. If they made this machine 6K dumb people would buy it.
Niche product, small production volumes, labour intensive manufacturing, high quality materials. All elements making these machines expensive. Fortunately, you don’t have to buy it 😉
@@chris73 yeah ok. How about all the accessories? A tamper and leveler are worth $150ea? Let me guess? It took ten men to make one. Consumers are the reason for this! If I made enough people believe that dog shit was worth 10k a pound I’m sure enough would buy them. I could tell them that this shit was labour intensive from a very rare bread of dog.
Can we get the video doing a side by side with the ECM Synchronika ??

Nice review, thanks for sharing!!
Don’t forget to clean your wand!! 🤦🏻
Forget the espresso machine, where can I get that La Marzocco T shirt?
May I ask what brand and model the microscope-shaped coffee grinder in the video is? Thank you.

With cup clearance it’s actually a super amazing/easy swap out
I run all my coffee on this machine bottomless
With a standard La Maz portofilter from the Mini for instance you will get less cup clearance than using the one supplied

Does the Micra model have a duel Boiler for both coffee and the stream wand?
Yes
still trying to figure out what is wrong with Gaggia classic pro
Same here,,, it’s 8 times cheaper😂
@Dan Kehn I believe it is pronounced "Me” Cra.
Yes… Italian!
Do you like this machine more then the Profitech Pro 800 ?
I'm a big fan of both, but for different reasons.
@@homebarista but if you had to keep one?

Hey it's The Homebrew Challenge but with coffee!
Hey! It’s homebrew challenge! Just came across this

Those changes already exist and it's called the Linea Mini.
@@aimanrifhan that’s why I will be ordering a Linea Mini from Specht design with EMP gear pump upgrade. ;)
@@jules5350 Good decision! I love the fast startup of the Micra but dislike many others about it. I'd take the Mini for my next upgrade as well.
Owner here. The short chubby wand is extremely annoying. I do not like not being able to fit cups under the spouted portafilter, either
Would you recommend a Rocket R58 or a Lelit Bianca instead of the micra?
Or a ECM
Are you in the US? How long did you wait for the order?

no. i'm not ready for your latte art. please clean the steamwand. signed mr OCD :)

No stir before tasting? What a rookie!
Heats in five minutes? Nice. My new Breville heats in no minutes...turn it on and go.

Cost too much for what it is
Cost per use isn’t that bad especially if it keeps you out of a coffee shop. You are what you eat
